  1. We pre-pay the basic tip but add extra to various envelopes and hand them to the servers. On our first cruise we just pre-paid the basic tip so didn't realized what the envelopes were for until I jumped onto the cruise forums AFTER the cruise. Then I read on a forum not to add extra and turn it into the concierge desk because the correct servers do not get it so we had to arrange to hand it out to the specific servers the last night in between servings, as we didn't go to the last dinner.

How do most handle the 'extra' ?

  2. Priority - pack comfy clothes you can sit it. Our first cruise I didn't like anything I packed - except for the bathing suit - it all felt too constricting. We do a LOT more sitting on the cruise than on land vacations.

We've only cruised twice - both times on DCL (Wonder followed by the Dream). The first thing we do, after dumping our stuff in the cabin, is walk the open deck, enjoying the sea. They we scope out the seating areas. Last cruise we were so enjoying the view we forgot about the dinner seating so were late. The staff was very nice (we were only 15 minutes) but next cruise we'll try and remember the time.

We sale the Dream again in January and our priority will be to map out how to avoid the children's play area as it is extremely loud.

  3. We did not like the bathroom setup at all on our Disney cruise. We are tall and hit our heads also trying to take a shower. Also, could not sit on the toilet without hitting our knees so had to sit sideways. It was also like musical chairs .... use the toilet in one room and then go out the door and into the other bathroom to take a shower. We much prefer Carnival's split bathroom; shower, sink and toilet in one and then a tub and sink in another.

We've only experience DCL cruises and I totally agree with this - in fact, I don't understand the purpose. BTW, we're short (5'6" & 5'1") and still felt the same with the toilet area. Using the split BR arrangement put me more at risk for motion sickness that the cruise. :D
