No idea, best to ask Oceania directly.  My "guess" is that if you booked it as a designated balcony suite that was NOT part of concierge then you would not benefit from the concierge designation.  Cynically if they can't get more dollars from you they aren't going give you the concierge perks !

    Either way enjoy your cruise

    Thanks!

I would assume if you have booked a cabin and put a deposit down then they would have to honor the contracted price for that room.

If you haven't put a deposit down or it is a new person booking now then the new pricing for that particular cabin would likely apply.

I would expect basic contract law to apply (offer/acceptance/consideration ie $$) I would expect the terms of the contract buried in the O fine print very few people read fully (I didn't !) to be slanted in O's favor though

I have put the deposit down, will I have Concierge privelges?

The taxes and fees when you book are an estimate, unless shortly before sailing.  Previously if the taxes and fees increased you were not charged the difference unless you repriced your cruise. When repricing then they taxes and fees were changed to the amount at the time of repricing.
With the addition of the added Bahamas charge they are taking the new taxes and fees and charging for the difference between current and the estimated you cost when you booked.

From reports the change has been as little a $6 or highest I heard was $36.  The variance is because some booked when the estimated taxes were higher than others who maybe booked longer ago.

Thanks for the info. Funny we normally sail with other cruise lines and this has never happened.

The taxes and fees are being adjusted and tge difference is all over the ballpark based on the taxes and fees when you booked vs the new taxes and fees.  Our changed by a total of $31 and change.

It still doesn’t add up! At the time of booking, the tax pp charged by the Bahamas was included in the fare. The new increase is 5 dollars pp, how does this equate to 35 dollars pp?

  5. My ta advised that BAHAMAS is increasing its tax for cruise passengers in 2024. I asked how much and I was advised that X has told my ta 35 CAD pp. . Every report I read says 5 dollars USD pp. , is this a scam or or error?

You don’t need anyone to figure it out for you. Just start a mock booking on the O website: First page is O Life “with air”. On next page check “no air.” The difference in price is the “air credit.”

Even if the overall price has increased substantially since I booked?

if your flight is only 3 hours..as in Miami, .I would take the early morning flight and risk it...

but if it is overseas, that is a bigger risk...

december is still not a month of the great snows in southern ontario....

and if you miss the ship, you could probably get to the next island...

to pay 175 times 2 for deviation, then a hotel for probably around 300,  plus meals, thats a lot of $...

I know most wont agree with me...

What ship were you scheduled to sail?  Scenic seems to have been consolidating (canceling one sailing and moving passengers onto the reverse itinerary) a lot of its cruises along the Rhine.  The Scenic Jade also suffered engine problems that forced the early termination of a cruise last month.  Its sailings have all been cancelled until late June and passengers either moved to sailings on the Scenic Pearl (now docked in Amsterdam) or offered alternative sailings or a full refund.

Scenic's office in Canada has seemed to be easier to reach than the one in the United States, and the staff there very knowledgeable and proactive.  I'd give them a call (have your travel agent give them a call, depending on how you booked) to determine options as early as possible.

If you do, please report back your experience and outcome here to help others.  (For our Rhine sailing on the Jade--the first on Scenic's updated schedule on their website--I reached out via our TA to Scenic on Monday for answers to some questions about the viability of our sailing.  I also sent a second email directly to the ship's address (sticky at the top of the River Cruising board).  Still awaiting response on both.  Will advise.)

Good luck with whatever you decide,

Thanks for all of the good information. We are scheduled to sail on the Scenic Ruby, but that could easily change. Booked directly with Scenic as we had some credit. We have had to cancel and rebook twice so far.

We do have our air arrangements if that counts for anything.

Went back to back commencing March 27, 2022. Here are quick comments..

Library on deck 2 is beautiful, hope all books are returned, it runs on your honor system

Both pools are painted garish yellowish green, what were they thinking!!

    Boarded 11:45am first day

Our one room phone was intermittent, had to book wake up calls through guest services

Masks were only recommended not mandatory, Crew 100%, guests less than 10%

No night light in our suite bathroom

No free lobster, just steak and shrimp. Only saw Lobster in the Pinnacle for a price

Jogging track on deck 11...12 laps for a mile.  I lost track after 7 or was that 8!!

Balcony door bangers are back. Born in a barn

Only 3 bathrobe Boobs in the Lido, that is an improvement pre pandemic

Virtual tour of bridge and engine room, no full ship tour at a price

Spa charged $175 for reflexology and the tip of $26 was included

Entertainment has degenerated to Carnival cruise line level...Cornhole and game shows are norm!!

No sale of shirts/hats around inside pool

Our room steward was responsible for 27 rooms

Two comedians were on board each week. BBC shows which are available at home were main stage entertainment!!

    Sad to be back home

    Bob

Hi, on board the Rotterdam now and agree with your opinions. Why has HAL degraded to Carnival type cruising. Cutbacks are rampant. The second Gala Night, we were offered jumbo shrimp cocktail and steak with shrimp!
Every food.item is from bulk supplies from butter to cereal. Very tacky! And baseball hats and jeans in the dining room just don’t do it for me.
