  1. Is it easy to meet other cruisers on virgin voyages when cruising. When I go it will be Myself and Dad(I get my love of traveling from him). While he does enjoy meeting people, I'm usually the one who is meeting more I know on DCL and NCL I met people easily.

I'd rather the other way around. Vaccinated guests are low risk and even if we get it, are highly unlikely to require major (if any) medical assistance. I'm willing to risk being on a ship with fully vaccinated passengers who have not been tested, but I think having unvaccinated people onboard could cause a big scare if they got deathly ill and required an emergency port stop or medical evacuation. And those scares could put the cruise lines right back to requiring testing as a way to make everyone feel a sense of security, no matter how real or false that security may be.

If there's still people out there unwilling or unable to get vaccinated, let that be their own problem, not everyone else's. I paid my vaccination and masking dues, I'm ready to have unrestricted vacations. Let the unvaccinated continue their stubborn anti-science protests at home by themselves.

*And sorry for those who are unvaccinated because you're unable due to medical conditions, but it's probably not safe for you to be taking that risk anyway.

I agree I hope its other way around as well. Having a autoimmune disease sure being vaccinated doesn't stop from being sick, but lower risk like you say

I live near Seattle and our daily case count in the state has doubled in the last month. Hospitalizations look to be up about 50%. Deaths are down to 1 or 2 per day. My wife and I are around 80 with health conditions. We still go out to dine and shop and visit friends/family. We wear masks except when actually dining/drinking, inside or outside. And probably will continue to so for the foreseeable future. Not only to protect ourselves but to protect those around us. We may be in endemic but Covid is still out there and affecting people.

I’m 34 with Lupus and in NJ. I’m wearing a mask and will when I cruise in August. It doesn’t bother me

  4. There won't be a lot of differences. Pearl and Jade are sister ships, along with Gem and Jewel. The staff will obviously be different but, both have the same layout and both have had their slides removed at allow for the Sixthman Music Theme cruises.

Cool, thanks. Not a slide person so that doesn't affect me, good to know they are sister ships, so the same pretty much. I was so afraid it would be confusing on the Pearl last time, I was wrong knew it for most part by day 2 :)

  5. So how are these different? I may have the chance to cruise the Norwegian Jade in April 2018. I've been on 25 Disney Cruises all 4 ships and went on Parahoy Cruise in March 2016 on the Pearl. I really liked cruising the Pearl and testing out a new line and now in April 2018 I have the chance to possibly do Parahoy 3, this time on the Jade.

  6. I've been on Disney Cruise Line 24 cruises all 4 ships and one NCL cruise on Pearl it was Parahoy! 2016. I will never made a trip report, from about a year ago actually and was just thinking about making one since not cruising this year. I'm hoping to get on a regular NCL cruise from NYC, I live a hour away I will say I like both lines. I'd always choose Disney, but NCL had better food from remembering. Seeing bands I liked were awesome too

  7. So how does it work? my dad and I will be on the Pearl March 5th-9th, on the 9th we want to get off as early as possible. First time cruising NCL, DCL is easy, is NCL just as easy, we want to get on the road because we will be heading to WDW that day

  8. I can't speak for the NCL Pearl as I've never been on her but in NYC on the Gem & Breakaway they are very laid back on getting you off the ship. The DO ask that you vacate your cabins by 0900 but you can hang out in the public areas (Garden Café, Atrium, etc.) till 1000. I've heard stories of people in suites staying onboard as late as 1100 but that's anecdotal so I can't vouch for it.

Will have to look into this "parahoy"...dunno if we're "cool" enough but it sounds like a lotta fun....lol

    Enjoy your cruise!

    Tom

Well Parahoy is sold out this year, sold out in pre-sale

  9. Not cool enough to know Parahoy

With self disembarkation just don't put your luggage out the night before and you can walk off as soon as the ship is cleared...usually pretty early 6:30 or 7:00 am The only rule is you have to be able to handle your own luggage all the way thru customs......not hard with wheelie bags.

cool thanks for the info, is it like DCL where they want to try to have everyone off by 9:00am? just wonder incase we go the way where we don't have to carry off luggage

  10. March 5th-March 9th, 2016 will be my first NCL cruise. I'm on Parahoy. I'm wondering how long it takes to disembark the ships or is it different for the sixth man cruises. I want to get off the ship early since we are driving to Disney World after for the day. Last time we drove from Miami to Orlando, we made to there by 1:00pm and had left a little after 8:00am. We are doing a DCL cruise from PC, so only got that one day getting off the ship to do a park. I've cruised DCL so I know disembarking those ships is easy, wasn't sure if NCL was too. Also booked a mini-suite if that helps

  11. I had to look this up. I thought Parahoy was like the Paralympics and was very impressed that NCL was hosting such a cruise.

I must be old because I am not familiar with Paramore the BAND!!

Enjoy- been a few years since we were on this ship but we loved it!

that's awesome I know a woman(friend of mine who has cruised Disney more then me) and has cruised NCL ships, she loves both so I'm excited hearing about it. And shame on you for not knowing Paramore. JK
  12. No, I LOVE Disney - it's an obsession. :D We visit the parks at least once a year - usually more. I can also tell you the entire history of the Walt Disney Corporation (yet American/World history has always been one of my worst subjects!).

then you'd most likely love it. I've cruised with DCL when I was 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23(still 23 till March). I like Disney, but I don't know it's history and I still love it. Dream is great I have like a million pictures and I will be writing a trip report about my cruise next month. Don't know if you post on the disboards but if so check out the cruise section and you can see my report. here are some I have written in the past.

  13. I LOVE Disney! Our first cruise was a Disney cruise, but we haven't been back, since. :( We first changed lines because we wanted more variety (at the time, they only had two ships sailing the Bahamas), but now we're older and my family is a little hesitant to go back for fear we will be outliers as a "grown" family.

However, we REALLY want to go on one of the new ships - the Dream or the Fantasy (probably the Fantasy because it sails 7-night itineraries). Honestly, it's the new ship-of-the-year that most appeals to me. Rachel, however, really wants to go on the Allure (I'm not sure how I feel about a ship that big...). She also really wants to go on the Dream. Or the Fantasy. Any cruise - she wants it. :D

Do you like Disney or can you stand Disney? If you do then you'll like cruising DCL. I've been on all ships so far and going on the Dream again in February before a work convention and I'm booked on Fantasy can't wait. If you have facebook feel free to add me I can tell you more about DCL for adults and young adults. I'm 23.
