  1. we were on the sailing that left port Canaveral on jan. 20. everything went great, we got on the ship without a problem, hubby has a heart icd so he could not go through the xray but it was very easy, they just patted him down and had him to unbuckle his belt, it was nice but a little cool the entire trip(or at least to us) my husband is on a low sodium diet and while we were in the windjammer right after getting on we ask about how and whom we see about the low sodium diet, the person we ask, told us, you stay right here, i bring him to you, and there he was in just a few minutes, he ask us our name and brought another person over, azsun, they were so wonderful, they brought us the menu for that eve. and the next eve. said that they would see us every even in my fair lady, and before they left my husband was told, stay here, i have talked to the cook and he is cooking you a nice meal without salt. and it wasn't very long until we were brought a special cooked plate of grilled chicken, and fresh steamed veg, and we both got a plate, everywhere we went and they seen us they stopped us and ask how he was doing, every evening they would come talk to us about his meal and if it was ok, i.m sorry, right now i can't remember their names except Aysun, but we did leave extra tips for them the last day at dinner,,,,we got off at coco cay but not Nassau, weather was sunny but a little cool, we did not hear of anyone that was sick, but that doesn't mean that no one was, we just didn't know it,entertainment was ok, low keyed but that was what we wanted, just to sit around and relax, the food was wonderful. mine and my husbands,we only drink coffee or tea so our drinks were free, the ship was a beautiful clean ship,,, we will go on her again one day, getting off the ship at the end was very easy and orderly.we had cabin 4881, inside cabin, 4th deck... right behind the R-bar, you could hear the music at night if you tried but it wasn't enough to bother us,we did not smell any bad smells.. we used park n cruise for our parking.if you would like to ask anything i will do my best to answer,, over all we had a wonderful time, and met some wonderful people, we give it A+

  2. If you mean the one at Port Canaveral...you will pull into a garage type building...unload your bags & pay for your parking...they will load them on the shuttle & then direct you to a parking spot...you park & then walk back over & board the shuttle...when you reach the port they will have you get off & then hand your bags to you..."THEN" is when you would tip the driver...there will generally be a porter close by to take your bag...and he will be expecting a tip as well...usually a $1 or so a bag is fine...

    thank you so much,

  3. i ask this on the royal, c. board but thought maybe i alsp shold ask it here since more than just their passengers use it.

we are using park n cruise to park, how does the tipping with them work? do we tip when we get there with them handling our bags and then tip again at the cruise ship term.how do the park n cruise work, do we drive up to the bus and give them our bags (do we tip here )and then go park our car and walk back to the bus, and do they let us off at the port with our bags, and we give them to the porters, and we tip them, or are the tips at park and cruise already added or what, sorry, i've always parked at the port before.

  5. we will be on enchantment of the seas this next week. i think that we will be doing a lot of our meals, esp. breakfast in our cabin,, do they put tips on your card all the time or is it only between certain hrs, also what is the normal tip to give them when they bring it to your room? there will be 2 of us in the room.thank you so for answering the questions that some of us ask, over, and over, and over again. you guys are a blessing to the ones that doesn't do cruising on a reg, basis. by the time we get around to our next cruise, either things has changed or we are to old to remember,

  6. thanks,my husband has already had some fluid issues so we made a trip to the heart doctor this past Friday, he did some swelling so the Dr. doubled him up on his fluid pills and told him that if he had not lost 5 pounds by Monday to call him and he would add something else to his meds.,, he did loose 4.75 lbs and he is looking pretty good for now, the Dr. told him that he wanted him pretty dry by the time he gets on the ship. he will be (hopefully) and we are traveling 2 days, only about 300 miles a day, Dr, suggestion. we are not eating out before we get on the ship and will talk to them once we get on about a low sodium diet, with all the scale issues that has come up we are going to measure, ankles, thighs, and tummy with a measuring tape and we will measure the size every morning, after he starts his day his legs always gets larger but goes back down over night, and the dr. told him if his sees any swelling of the morning not to be scared to pop another fluid pill. we will only have to worry 3 full days and 1 evening so if we have to we will just do fruit and plain steamed veggies, thanks for all the answers, i did call TA and she called RC and they do have us down for low sodium, and told her to tell us to be sure to follow it up once we get on the ship....

  7. i always just wear nice casual wear(i love the sun dresses) on our cruises, and formal night i like to dress maybe like you dress for church,, i love the pictures that they take but after a few of the formal wear i had rather have some nice normal shots, like you'd get in the studio. we also don't do the photos with the ship in the background, each to their own, but i just don't like those backgrounds, i'm on vacation and i want to be comfy'

  8. thanks everyone, we do have T-Mobile but we just want to keep a check before the ship leaves, if anything happens while we are still able to get off we will, even if we loose our money, but once we pull out we are not going to worry because there's not much we can do about it anyway, so i have i told every one that if anything happens while we are at sea, just handle it til we get back,, not trying to be mean but we have 4 children (all married) and 8 grandchildren, 5, almost 6 great grandchildren and and every one of them except 1 grandson lives within 10 miles of us, we NEED to get away for a while,,,,and it is only a 4 night so it will only be from late monday to early friday..thanks again i really do appreciate all the feed back.

  9. will you be charged what carnival charges if you are on the ship and make a last minute phone call before it leaves your embarkation port? sorry if it has already been answered lately, i found some old threads but with cell phones being upgraded all the time i thought maybe there has been some change, my m-i-l is 90 and we'd like to check on her right before we leave, we will only be gone a short time (4 nights)but will find peace of mind if we know right before we leave that everything's ok. we will take out the battery or put it on airplane mode when the ship starts to pull out, thank you so much in advance

  10. thanks for the quick answers, we use a dr. scale at home so i can't pack it but i will check into buying a small thin scale to take with me, he can weigh after we get on board in cabin, then maybe while we are on board it might be somewhat correct,,i also have a tape that we measure his stomach, calves, and ankles with every morning, this helps but it only helps after the swelling begins.. He's doing great with no problems right now and we just want to keep it that way,,we have changed our ways of eating and he's down counting the fluid loss from 308 to 217.... and a bonus for me,, i'm down from 255 to 186,,,,,,but now the eating out everyday scares me, we never eat out at home, i can handle it with only a weight gain, but he's back in the E.R.

  11. maybe this is a dumb ? but we will be on enchantment of the seas Jan 20th. my husband has a heart issue and needs to weigh everyday to keep up with a fluid/sodium built-up/gain,, he has a defibrillator already so this is really important that you don't go over a couple days at a time without weighing, the last time in the hospital they drained over 60 lbs off,it can build up really fast,,,now the question- does the ship have a scale where someone can go and weigh themselves.. or could i just throw a small floor scale in my check-on bag, or should i just carry it on with me, thanks,Wanda

  12. we will be on her jan 20-24.. how was their meals?the last ship we were on only brought us water to drink, we had to ask for tea or lemonade. if you didn't ask then you just got water and it was the next day before we realized that you could ask for tea or lemonade.. this was the first time this has happened to us, always before when they ask for your order they would ask what we wanted to drink, the last trip was like they didn't want to serve anything but water,,,,it was not with royal carribbean.we will be in room 4881, directly behind the R Bar. we both have health issues and this seems to be pretty much the middle of the ship.. thnaks for the pictures, great job,,,

  13. just my 2cents on the phones. one cruise i was on with my sister, she called home, only to learn that her daughters husband had walked out on her, the rest of her cruise she was miserable. i tell my kids-we have 4 grown kids with 8 grandchilden between them,-if something really, really bad happens and i need to get home at the next port, call me, BUT- if everyones alive with only a broken bone or so, wait until we get back home, we go on cruises to get away, our "Rule od Thum" if every ones alive, and gonna be ok, hold on. granny and pawpaw (or mom and dad) will call when we get off ship.......

  14. also, if i was a smoker with everything changing for the smokers i would ask about smoking if i inquired about anything, our local (BIG) hospital is changing to no smoking anywhere on the grounds, even in your car, and they are sitting on a lot of ground, and are also adapting a no hire policy to anyone that smokes,,,,,but on the flip side they are telling anyone that works there and wants to stop they would provide them with all the meds or help that they need to quit.

  15. my son and his family has had a Disney cruise booked for almost a year, when they booked this was not a policy, but has changed since then, they book a baclcony so his wifes mother could smoke, but now she can't and they had already paid in full. they leave for the cruise next week, they have chose not to tell her until she boards because there's really nothing they can do about it, they said she would be ok with it, maybe not happy, but ok- because as a smoker she is used to this type of thing, i'm not a smoker but i don't really mind a smoker as long as i don't get the direct smoke, but i feel a little bit good about this because fire is a real danger on cruise ships, and i think that i will rest better when we board the Enchantment of the Seas on January 20th knowing this, MHO..however i do understand how smokers would be upset over this,

  16. we've been on many cruises and we have only been up graded once, our very first cruise, now i book the room i want where i want it, and ask for no upgrade. it is important to us to get the room that is in the middle of the ship and mid deck( we always get the deck 4) because i have MD and don't know when i might go out of remission.. best thing is get that room from beginning if it's important to you to be a certain place, other wise, just enjoy the ship, don,t worry about the room.
