does anyone know if you can upgrade to surf and stream, and just pay the difference between the two packages?

Being that you can upgrade from easy plus to premium dinks by just paying the difference, you should be able to do the same for the internet package. You’ll have to call to do it.

I want to thank everybody for their insights. We have decided to not spend our money on a Caribbean cruise at this time. Instead, we will roll it into our dream cruise next year to the Mediterranean. We will use our COVID refund from our non-cruise last year and find a good itinerary on a smaller ship. We can then splurge a bit and get a nice cabin. Fingers crossed that it can all come together. I have never been to Europe, so it will all be an adventure of firsts! Any opinions on a Mediterranean cruise would be much appreciated!

Check out Emma Cruises on YouTube, her videos should be a good source of ideas for you.

I don´t know where this rumor comes from, but it is absolutely not true. If you have no drinks included, then you have to pay for the drinks (normal prices) plus a 15% service charge. For many this is the only stuff on the final bill.

I agree, I don’t want to pay for gimmicks I won’t use with an inflated cruise price. Much better to be able to choose with a pay and play format.

    Hello,

Booked for first time with MSC, Meravigilia repositioning in April 2023. We booked when they were running the "All In" package with free drinks and WiFi.  If this cruise goes well I would like to book more based on their seeming low prices.  How often do the run the Free drinks specials?  or was that something new / one time thing?

    Thanks

All in is usually always available, the drinks package isn’t free, but discounted by approximately 30%. You can see exactly by subtracting the escape to sea price from the all in price. The wifi is free.

When were you able to upgrade your drinks packcage.  I have been trying and keep getting told it is not available yet.  Last Jan I upgraded onboard for the same price

To upgrade a drinks package you just pay the price difference between them. You should be able to do it by just calling, you may have to try a few different customer service reps until you find one that knows how to process it.

Teas are included but not the afternoon tea 🫖 package.

Don’t miss the cute little corridor between the Gin project and the Polo house full of informative info on the tea trade

Are the breakfast tea and elevenses covered by packages? Or are they the same as afternoon tea? And is it real clotted cream?

    Hi!

Considering booking a voyage under the Summer Promo online, wich includes the EASY drinks package. Can i then go online or call MSC and upgrade this package to the Premium Extra package?

Please only answer if you have experience with this particular upgrade 🙂

    Thank you!

Pretty sure the promo drinks package is Easy Plus, if you want to upgrade you just pay the price difference between the 2 packages.

  8. We’re embarking from Genoa, as Milan seems to be the easiest city to get to from Toronto, second choice would be Nice. We looked at Barcelona and Naples, but couldn’t get flights that worked both ways.

It will come down to flights, best value and easiest connections. Also easiest transfers, Milan has great train links to Genoa, and the railroad station is steps from the cruise terminal.

We cannot find a men’s shaver socket in the bathroom 🤷‍♀️

There is a retractable clothes line in the shower.

I noticed on other ships, there was a NA 120v GFCI socket near the ceiling in the bathroom.

  10. Woo Hoo “Little Britain “ is on Europa. Looking forward to hearing everything about this new ship. Currently top of my list of questions is which bars are excluded from Easy Plus and Premium drinks? Jean Phillips definitely is, no Venchi, is the coffee lounge Lavazza? What about Raj Polo tea room? Also the juice, gin and champagne bars? Any others excluded?

Signature venues are Venchi 1878 establishments, Lavazza Coffee Shop, and Jean Philippe chocolate, coffee, crepes & gelato.  It can be used in our bars, buffet, main restaurant and specialty restaurants.

Quoted directly off the MSC website, the trouble is there’s only a Jean Philippe listed for Europa, although the coffee lounge has a lavazza signature bean it’s not listed as a lavazza coffee shop, and No Venchi.

Travelling closed loop on a three night cruise departing Miami. Never have trouble boarding with a birth certificate only but all docs on MCS cruisesite line say you MUST have a passport.

Can you travel, closed loop, on MCS with a birth certificate only?

I am aware of the dangers and concerns.

The answer is posted on the US passport service FAQs page.

    https://www.us-passport-service-guide.com/passports-for-closed-loop-cruise.html

Assuming your 3 day cruise is to the Bahamas, and if you go to the Bahamas government website, it will tell you all tourists must be in possession of a valid passport. So technically your answer is “no”.

However as everyone knows the only destination that applies passport controls to cruise passengers is Martinique. The only document you’ll have to show in the Bahamas is your cruise card. So in reality there’s nothing to stop you cruising with just a BC and ID.

They say you must, because the Bahamas say you must. However unless the Bahamas start doing actual passport controls it makes no difference. There’s nothing to stop you travelling with just ID and a birth certificate. You’ll only need them to return to Miami, all you’ll have to show in the Bahamas is your cruise card.

For me the decision is based on where I would like to spend a couple of nights before or after the cruise.  I've done:

    - Fly to Milan, and then take the train to Genoa Piazza Principe station.

    - Fly to Turin, and the take the train to Genoa Piazza Principe station.

    - Fly to Pisa, and the take the train to Genoa Piazza Principe station.

In Italian Genoa is called Genova, so that is the train destination you are looking for.  I have always taken regional trains, as they are cheaper and you don't need to book in advance.  If you take an intercity train you should book in advance and will get a seat reservation with the ticket.   I use the Trenitalia app to check times and book tickets.

There are plenty of other opportunities depending on where you want to visit before your cruise - for example Florence is easily possible (but a bit longer train journey), and there are direct EC trains to Genoa from Zurich each day.

Not mentioned so far is flixbus - their bus terminal (Genoa Fanti d'Italia/Principe bus station) is 50m to the cruise terminal (even closer than the train station).  I've taken a flixbus from Munich in Germany to Genoa - it took 9 hours with just one stop in Milan.  Not as comfortable as the train, but can be very cheap and convenient.    https://global.flixbus.com/bus/genoa

A lot will depend on whether we go to Scotland (from Toronto) before the cruise, or Paris after the cruise. But we are tending towards Milan rather than Nice. Is Bergamo as convenient as Malpensa? Regarding getting to the main train station for trains to Genoa?
