  1. I know to get a manicure & pedicure (no massage, no paraffin) total is was $110 I believe. I can get a better pedi at home for half the price. They have 2 pedi chairs that face the windows up in the spa room. You can definately feel the motion more up there. It was a bit rocky the day I got mine in May. Before the ship leaves the dock on embarkation day, they will have a raffle. Make sure you attend and sign up to receive all the discount & special notices in your cabin. I'd wait till you see the deal you want. I took the first day specials and it seems like they offered better deals as the cruise went on.

    Great info! Thanks :)

  2.

I have heard about several complaints about Jamaica. I really wanted to do the Dunns River Falls excursion but a 2 hour bus ride? Is it really worth it to sit on a bus for 4 hours?? Are there any other suggestions?

We had originally planned to go to Dunn's River Falls also but after finding out how long the drive was, we opted for Mayfield Falls instead. My dds are older and they still did not want to make the 2 hour trip.

    7) Grand Cayman is a tender port. The island itself has no sheltered harbor for cruise ships. If swells are large, usually above three feet, tendering is considered to be too dangerous so the port is skipped. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. I'm not aware of October being any better or worse except to say that October is still hurricane season.

nice pics :) thanks for sharing.

From what I understand: you take all your own luggage off of the ship-self disembark

or put your luggage out in the hall for the porters to take off

glyn- I know this is off topic but I read on the roll call thread you are from Kilgore? Me too! Born and raised, lived there 'til about 7 years ago when my dh was transferred to Houston :) Just got back from visiting my family there last weekend! Go Bulldogs:D

  3. thoneycu, thank you for the links! I appreciate that!

    Your welcome :)

Your pics are great! You really did a great job of taking informative pics, and I LOVE the ones of Key West. Can't wait to go there some day and your pics just made it worse! I like pics of the scenery and the water rather than a lot of pics of people you don't know:)

  4. KcFanNindy, you have been so helpful to sooooo many of us that I would just ignore Gumballz! :p I'm sure that I'm not alone out there!:)

    Actually, you might be.....

Gumballz: Maybe some of these will help you. I think transportation is high from both of our airports here in Houston to the cruise terminal. Its really not that far from Hobby so it would be better from there and a lot less traffic. With Bush Inter. you have to come all the way across Houston, Hobby is already on the south side and out of the heavy traffic areas for the most part. Good luck and I hope you find a great deal :)

  5. I would recommend staying at Gaido's Seaside Inn, go do a search and find the reviews from past guest who have stayed here. This is family owned, and gets repeat customers or word of mouth business. Excellent choice for a nightly stay before the cruise! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I stayed there in 2005 and it was cheap in price (cheapest on the island) and also offered free cruise parking, they also have a cruise special if you book thru their website, mention the cruise special in the comments and you will receive a additional 10% off on the stay. Almost the entire roll call for April 1-8, 2007 is staying at Gaido's due to the price and the great reviews, we can report back to ya after we return!

    Good Luck!

According to the reviews for the Econolodge, they dont talk highly of htis place, almost everyone of the reivews were negative reviews.

Sorry, have to disagree with the nascar fan (?) Although Gaido's is family owned and does contribute to Galveston Island's history, it is NOT a place I would recommend for your overnight stay on this wonderful island. There are many, MANY other places. I would definitely stay on the seawall just for the fun of it, it is fun to watch all the people and activity along the famous seawall all day and into the evenings. I don't know your price range but there is also a Galveston favorite- The Commodore. It is older but still very nice and convenient to everything and has a certain style to it. It sits right on the seawall with all rooms facing the ocean. You also have the San Luis, the Hilton, and there is a new Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. If you don't want to stay on the seawall then there is the neatest hotel on the harbor called Harbour House Hotel. Doesn't look like a hotel but it is really a neat place and you can wake up and look out the window and see the harbor and if you're on the left side you can even see your ship docked! Make sure you visit the Strand Historic district.

Nothing against Gaido's- just would not recommend it, it is old, has a musty smell and needs major renovations.
