  1. Just off Royal Caribbean Adventure of the Seas out of Galveston, TX: Good news is this ship still has the full separate men's large dry and wet saunas. The bad news is they had them turned off the entire cruise due to covid restrictions! Makes no sense that the bar areas can be mask free for vaccinated passengers, but not the locker rooms?!

Hoping for better on Mariner in a couple of weeks.

  2. Sailed on Royal Allure of The Seas last month (September 2021) and the spa facilities are as follows:

    • NO separate men's steam or sauna.
    • Separate men's locker room with showers, but only accessible if using paid spa services. Showers were closed for COVID reasons during my sailing.
    • Coed "Thermal Spa" had just re-opened with restrictions (pre-scheduled 1-hour time blocks) on my sailing. Paid $120 for a one week pass. The restrictions (1-hour time limit eased but not the need for reservations) eased up some as the week went by.
    • Coed Thermal Spa consists of two steam rooms and a dry sauna, and heated loungers in the area in front of the saunas.
  3. Just (February 2019) cruised on MSC Seaside out of Miami: There is a free men's only locker room that is part of the free gym facility (no check-in required). It consists of three showers with frosted glass doors in a separate space, a small locker/changing room area with a small bench, and a small dry sauna with a partially frosted glass door that seats about 4 or 5 men fairly comfortably. The location of the sauna is awkward and in the high traffic entry to the men's locker room, directly across from the entry to the women's locker room. The glass door entry to the men's locker room is kept wide open, and the entry to the dry sauna is directly on the right just as you enter the locker room. It was a rarely used sauna, and perhaps busiest in the morning as men used it after a work out and mostly clad in full sweaty athletic clothes and shoes! The sign posted outside the sauna lists "bathing suits" required, however, I was not the only one to enjoy it sans clothing wrapped in the towel. The towel situation is another challenge - there are no large shower towels provided, only small gym towels at the gym front desk. So, you must bring a full-sized towel from your room if you plan to go nude and cover up. During all of the times I spent in the sauna, not a single time was it checked by an attendant, but the locker room somehow was kept fairly tidy.

Bottom Line: At least there is a free men's only dry sauna, but it's location and the lack of towels makes it less then ideal.

  4. Any Men's Spa users sailing on Navigator of The Seas on 12/22/17 out of Miami?

By the way, I've previously posted my complete list of "Men's Only Sauna" ships, but here is what I have on Royal:

RoyalCaribbean (these DO have separate Men's facilities):

    Freedom of the Seas

    Independence of the Seas

    Liberty of the Seas

    Jewel of the Seas

    Brilliance of the Seas

    Serenade of the Seas

    Radiance of the Seas

    Grandeur of the Seas

    Vision of the Seas

    Rhapsody of the Seas

    Voyager of the Seas

    Navigator of the Seas

    Mariner of the Seas

    Adventure of the Seas

    Explorer of the Seas

  5. Recently sailed on the Navigator of the Seas (Royal Caribbean), and happy to report that it's virtually the same layout as the Liberty of the Seas. The Navigator has a free men's-only locker room with showers, large dry sauna and large wet sauna. You optionally get a combination for the lockers, but I did not do so and it's not necessary. There is also a "secret" entrance from the hallway that bypasses the front desk at the gym entrance (not that it's an issue, just nice to be able to quickly pop in to the locker room as desired).

  6. NCL - Epic

Sailed February 25, 2017. Eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral.

No free spa facilities of any kind. There is a locker room with one enclosed shower stall that is free and part of the gym facilities.

    Paid facilities: Mandara Spa

    • Purchased an all-cruise pass (supposedly, they only sell a limited number of passed).
    • Men's only area includes:
      • Lockers
      • Three showers with glass enclosures.
      • One partially enclosed shower.
      • Small dry sauna - fits about three to four men.
      • Large wet sauna - fits about 8-10 men.
      • Sitting area with two chairs.
      • Well stocked with towels and robes (for little people)

      [*]Co-Ed Area:

      • A large hot tub/whirlpool with various feature sections.
      • Chaise lounges
      • Quite room
      • Large wet sauna
      • Two dry saunas with floor-to-ceiling windows (ocean view).
      • Aft outdoor relaxation area with about 6 chaise lounges.

[*]The entire spa is well maintained and clean.

[*]You have to surrender your room key card at the front desk in exchange for a spa key card.

  7. Reporting Live from The Liberty of the Seas (Royal Caribbean)...

Happy to report and confirm that the men's-only free sauna facility is fantastic on this ship!

Facilities description: Large Wet Sauna (seats at least 10 comfortably), Large dry sauna with portholes to the ocean (although almost entirely covered by immovable wood louvers; seats about 15 comfortably). 6 individual showers, 3 (in a separate area between the lockers and the saunas) with glass doors, another 2 directly across from the dry sauna with glass doors, and one larger handicapped shower with a curtain across from the wet spa. A locker room area with benches, a separate bathroom (toilet room), a water fountain, a sink and mirror directly across from the dry sauna, and a small resting bench directly outside of the wet sauna.

This sauna area has been open 8am-8pm every day so far. And it's kept very clean with plenty of towels always stocked. The attendants tidy up and restock about every 30 minutes or so, but I have yet to see them check inside the saunas.

Only negative has been the lockers. They don't seem to have enough of them working, so they run out of them quickly. But, I prefer just bundling my belongings in a towel and not bothering with the locker anyway...makes it much easier to come and go as I desire (you have to leave your room card in exchange for the locker key).

There is no check-in process (unless you get a locker key), as you simply walk in just off the entrance to the gym, which is a deck down from the Spa (where you get the keys to the lockers - another inconvenience). There is also a "secret" entrance from outside the gym, as this also (unfortunately) serves as the men's restroom in this section of the ship. It's hard to find, however, and I only noticed it being used a handful of times as a restroom so far.

Anyway, just three nights into a 7 night cruise out of Galveston, TX, but loving it so far!

Reply with any other specific questions I might be able to answer....

    Happy Cruising!

If you have any corrections or additions, please reply!

Thanks so much to all of you who have posted this information! I've not sailed much yet, but plan to do so and the men's only sauna area is a deciding factor for me in choosing a ship.

    Happy Sailing!
