No pounds lost for me this week but my BMI is down 4%! I feel myself shrinking. I love strength training and running. The gym has become my new addiction. I also log everything I eat to keep it honest.

Hi Everyone! Down 5 lbs this week. Was really worried about my Super Bowl beer and nacho binge but I did ok.
My cruise is in 50 days. Down 55 lbs since August. Hope to go down another 15 before I set sail.

Started dieting in August from a really bad place. Down 55 lbs and hoping to lose another 15 by my cruise on April 1st.
I eat healthy, strength train 4 times a week, twice with a trainer and have started training for my first ever 5k which is soon after my cruise return.
I won't be ready for a bikini but a nice tankini will work and I can actually fit in a water slide. So excited!

What a fantastic time! We did the same ports on the Valor last summer. Looking forward to or trip on the Magic in April. We have a different port schedule but looks like the DNs (7 and 12) and DD (17) will love the sea days!

Hope everyone is doing great!
Diana- hope you have an amazing trip! Sounds fantastic!
Mamasylvia- way to go! I know the feeling. I suffer from arthritis in my ankles. I push through and it actually feels better after the workout. Awesome job pushing through.
Cruiserman- thanks for the tips.
Jo- you can do it. I'm still stagnant but I feel my body changing.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. My plan is veggies, turkey, and wine is my splurge. I rarely drink since my weight loss started. I really miss wine.

I've seen people with folding chairs on Carnival. They take them to the beach.

Completely depends on how you plan on spending your cruise. I have had balcony and window rooms so far. In April we are trying the interior. I found that I never used the balcony except very early morning so we downsized to the window last cruise. I think we opened the curtain once. We are wake up, get dressed, and go people.
If you prefer to spend a lot of quiet time in your room, definitely a balcony or at least a window but if you like people and activities from dawn to dusk, save the money and spend it on a drink package, a fantastic spa treatment, an upgraded dining experience, an excursion, or a lovely piece of jewelry or souvenir

We were on the Valor in July and there were no crepes but we didn't eat in the dining room for breakfast. It might be an option there

Are you asking to gage the number of drinks you may drink in a day?
Depends on the bartender. If you find a great bartender and slip them a little extra they will pour super heavy. I haven't run into one yet where they pour light to save the alcohol.
We hardly ever drink unless we are cruising. On days at sea, I've come close to the 15 drink limit. There are so many yummy concoctions to try.

Hi! Welcome to cruising. We were on the Valor last summer. It's a nice ship.
Review the cruise critic boards for excursions. Trip Advisor is also an excellent source of information. We haven't had much luck with Carnival excursions so we either find a private when we get off ship or book private ahead of time.
Grand Turk has a lot of activities right off the ship so we didn't take an excursion there. St Maarten has a really neat butterfly farm. We did a rain forest hike in Puerto Rico. We haven't made it to St Kitt yet.
I haven't been on an island in the Caribbean yet that didn't take US currency.
A first time cruiser tip: take a power strip. If you need to plug on more than one item, you will need it.
Have fun!

I'm currently on a weight loss spree but I am a plus sized cruiser. Hoping to lose a lot before my cruise in April but I will say this...I went on 2 cruises in 2016 as a plus sized cruiser and had a blast! There is so much to do. The ropes course seems fun but there are also trivia and other games that my 16 year old daughter also enjoyed, shows, bingo, bands, meet and greets, casinos, drinks, spa, game rooms, the list goes on. Don't let weight slow you down and never worry about what others think. You do you. Enjoy time with your son and have fun on your cruise!

Trip Advisor is the best. We use it for excursions and everyday life. If you type in where you are going, it will give you the top rated excursions in the port you are visiting.

Congratulations and enjoy your cruise! We discovered cruising last spring break and love it.
The issue that really got me on my first cruise was that there is only one outlet in your room. Not being able to charge phones, go pros, cameras, etc overnight was stressful. We were running around the ship trying to find power sources. A charging block is also helpful if you are off shore. We didn't use internet but wanted our phones for pictures or reading by the pool.
If you are drinking more than 5 drinks a day, go with the drink package. If you order it prior to the cruise, it's $49.95 a day and covers everything except bottles of wine and beer buckets. Also includes bottled water, powerades, specialty coffees, and soda. Those things add up.
Excursions: research your excursions. Sometimes you can find awesome excursions for as much as a quarter of the cost. Our trip to half moon cay was cancelled but we made it to Nassau. AVOID: Balmoral Island. We did a stingray excursion there for $75 a person. I've been on other stingray excursions where they take you out to a Caribbean sand bar and you feed and swim with rays. This place has poor captive creatures that they use to do a dog and pony show. They staff is rude and do not allow you to take pictures. Instead, at the end, you can purchase their picture CD for another $75. After 30 minutes with the rays, you are trapped on the island with $15 drinks and $30 burger and fry meals for another 4 hours. The beach is lovely but there are many beautiful beaches available by cab.
We discovered the shopping shows on our last cruise. If you like shopping, they give you island freebies and big discounts. Some of the daytime information shows are super helpful.
If you eat in the dining room, remember that you can order what you want off the menu. You are not limited to one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. You can order multiples, order appetizers in entree sizes if you really enjoyed it or entrees in appetizer sizes if you want to try several.
If you want something, ask. We have always found the staff friendly, fun, and ready to help whenever they can.

2-23-17 Thursday Weigh-In... Rise and Shine A New Day Ahead

Down 2 lbs from last week. My focus right now is on my 5k training. In November, I couldn't walk at a rate of 2.5 mph, now I'm running in 5 minute intervals with shorter walks in between. My weight isn't as steady at dropping but I'm down 5 sizes since I started this journey
