Yes same cruise, this was my 3rd time this year on carnival Panorama and out of 25 cruises this one was of the best, the embarkation and disembarkation was a breeze.

To let everyone know, Customs now uses a face recognition system, you walk off the ship, pick up your luggage and walk to where they look at your face with the iPad and you leave. There are 2 lines, one for those with birth certificate and the other line with passports, the face scan takes 5 seconds and you’re off.

By the time I got to the parking lot I was tired because you don’t stop,

As far as people being called over the loud speakers midweek, these were passengers that were not seen by their Cabin Steward for a while because they were sleeping in another cabin with their other relatives and did not tell their cabin Stewart. So they have to notify guests services and security.

Probably because of how crappy the internet and chat was the whole time. I’ve requested a refund due to how bad it was. Sorry to steer off topic…

Is there a thread specific to our cruise?

The ones they were calling were people that have not been seen for a while by their cabin stewards, their cabins were untouched. Those people just stayed with their relatives in another cabin and didn’t notify their cabin steward that they would be sleeping somewhere else. The cabin steward notified their Lead or supervisor and they contacted guest services and security.

Were you on the same cruise? 12/18-24?

This was my first cruise in a decade. Both on Carnival and I don't think I'll be cruising with them again in the future.

If you have any Covid related questions while onboard Panorama, just go to the December 18th 2021, Carnival Panorama roll call and ask there.

    Fred

I was on that cruise. It took a little while to get in and check the medical docs, the get in another line to check in and get on board but it wasn't horrible. Just a lot of angry staff yelling at everyone.

There was some discrepancy between staff about masks outside but I generally did not wear one outside and was fine.

At several points midweek they started calling names of guests who needed to check into guest services. No explanation. My theory is they were suspected of having contact with someone infected with covid or they had perhaps gone to the infirmary and were being called to isolate the rest of the trip. I got home friday and took an at home PCR with negative results. Going to a testing center tomorrow to get another one since my family (I live alone) doesn't trust the at home for whatever reason.

  4. I see men’s dress clothes as an antiquated method for taking away one’s individuality. A standard designed in the old days of the corporate world. Sure, nowadays there are more colors and styles which allow for moderate expression but I have never been a fan. The times have changed and for all you know I could be a millionaire or I could run a charitable organization that saves lives but some Karen on a cruise would judge me because I show up to dinner in denim.

I guess I’m still a bit irked by the above posters who assumed I was either a younger person with negative connotations  or that I had kids/work events/date nights and confirmed to the life they built for themself. I just don’t deal with this sort of thinking. Ever. I have a great job and nice place to live and a great life so how dare you. You know who owns a suit? Criminals going to court. I’m taking the first vacation I’ve been on in almost a decade and you’re pissing in my kool aid because I asked about dress code.

  5. I leave tomorrow and just found out there's some sort of dress up thing. I don't own anything other than jeans. What is the dress code and what night is it? I'm debating on if I go buy a pair of pants I'll never wear again, or just skip it.

The email I received in October said testing to be taken within 2 days prior to sailing date for vaccinated guests.

It also stated PCR test for unvaccinated guests must be taken between 72 and 24 hours prior to the sailing date.

Well, I guess I better learn how to read next time. It is still frustrating. I still have to work and all that jazz. oh well. c'est la vie.

    From Carnival FAQ:

Are fully vaccinated guests required to take a pre-travel COVID-19 test?

The CDC requires pre-cruise testing for vaccinated guests to be taken within two days prior to the sailing date. If the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken on Thursday and Friday, and as late as Saturday, if you are guaranteed to receive your results in time for check-in.

I'm pretty sure it is the day of testing, not the day of results.

Wait! *****? When did they change it to 2 days? It said 72hrs on the email I received. I'm about to just cancel this stupid thing with all the hoops I have to jump through. I'm vaccinated! Tests, masks... what the hell man?

  8. There is a lot of info in this thread so I apologize for adding to it. I sail out this Saturday. I am vaccinated. I had a PCR test done at Kaiser yesterday and I got the negative results this morning. Will I be within the window? It says 72-48 hours I believe. Are they going to go by the hour I was tested or the day? Or the day of the results? I just don't want to risk anything. I've bent over backwards as a vaccinated person in society, but that is a different convo. I just want to go on my darn vacation without issue.

If you used a travel agent, it may not be visible to you.   If not, then do this:

    1) Log into your cruise.
    2) click the 3 lines at the top right of the page.
    3) click on ORDER AND BOOKING DETAILS

    4) scroll down past the cabin photo to where it says paid in full. Under that, it should say “View Balance Details”.
    Click on that.

Still not there, unfortunately. But the fact I used a travel agent must explain it. So long as I can see my balance easily when I'm on the boat. I have $500 OBC and I'm going to use every penny.

  10. I'll have to post up after I return from my cruise. I drink a lot and will be with friends who also drink a lot. I bought the package just so I don't have to think about it. It's done, it is paid for and the rest of what I saved for the trip can go toward other things like gifts since I get back xmas eve.... ugh. 15 a day is a lot but we'll see how it goes. Out of sight out of mind, don't have to even think about the bill. I guess unless I start getting into the higher end whiskies and have to pay for those.

  11. I'm also a homebrewer. I'll be on the Panorama in just over 2 weeks and I am pretty excited, I haven't been on a cruise in 10 years and this time I am by myself but also with some friends so I get to do whatever the heck I want! I've got no plans for excursions or what to do in Cabo/Ensenada but I figure I'll follow my nose and find some food and maybe a couple bars to post up at in town.

What's the situation with masks on board? I'm hoping to wear one as little as possible and I've read so much and it has become overwhelming so I figure first-hand experience would be the best info.

  12. Personally, I don't think that is fair to the employees of the steakhouse. Maybe it is different on a cruise, I don't know but the menu is the menu for a reason. Maybe you two eat separately that evening?

Also, is she vegan or vegetarian? Big difference, as a vegetarian could easily eat several items on the menu at 555 without need for customization.

  13. I was reading something here recently about rates changing and carnival refunding the difference to you and also some folks getting deals on a cabin upgrade. I checked with my cruise booker agent person a couple of times in the last few months and they said there was nothing.

So, this time I called carnival direct and the CSR had no idea what I was talking about. Am I crazy? Did I misinterpret info? Ideally I’d like to see about an upgrade since my friends will be in Havana Suites and I couldn’t afford that at the time. Thank you.

All one needs for a REAL ID compliant license is proof of legal presence in the US. The REAL ID license doesn't come with a background check or with a machine readable chip similar to what is in a passport/passport card. And the REAL ID allows one to enter into property under federal jurisdiction whereas the EDL is recognized by other countries as proof of US citizenship (and may be used as a stand alone document for cruises). So there are key differences between the two.

Yes, I understand this. I also have Global Entry/Pre-check which required an interview etc... it would be nice if we didn't have to have so many darn pieces of ID from separate entities just to prove I am me and I where I am a citizen of.

Jack Daniels is not a bourbon, but Tennessee whiskey because it doesn't come from Bourbon County Kentucky.

Not true. The only geographic requirement is for it to be produced in the U.S. also, most of the KY distilleries are over in Lexington area; not bourbon county

Just go to the carnival site and do a mock booking. Has to match your exact cat. I see people all the time saying it shows balconys are less than what I paid .. if you booked a 8d has to be a 8d, or whatever. Not the type of cabin but match the same category

Then what after? Just tell my travel agent as someone else suggested?

  17. So, I’m a little confused about how the safe shoreside experiences is worded. It says vaccinated guests can participate in carnival-operated tours and independent sight seeing but then it goes on to say guests can only debark if booked on a carnival-sponsored bubble tour.

how does that work? My group booked a 3rd party catamaran in Cabo a ways back we are all vaccinated. Does that mean we have to cancel and book a carnival catamaran instead? Assuming they offer one… I’m a newbie here so I apologize.

  18. Hi there everyone. I’m a total newbie to all of this. How does the upgrade or discount work? I just paid for my December cruise but my friends are staying in the Havana suites and I am not. Regardless, even a lower price for my current room would be great. Should I contact the travel agent or carnival directly? Thanks so much.
