  1. So I'm actually getting married on the Escape on the 27th. I say go for it, especially if you're confident she's going to say yes. As others have said, talk to the cruise director ahead of time and they'll be sure to help you out.

That said, some things to consider

    - would you want something public (in front of a ton of people) or private, like at dinner or in your stateroom.

    - do you want to use an actual ring or a less expensive "stand-in" and get the real thing when you get back home

    - is she going to want to call someone right after it happens? Might be better to do it while docked in Bermuda to take advantage of the wifi from places on the island if it's to expensive to call while at Sea.

Good luck! Be sure to post an update!

  2. I'm doing an embarkation day wedding, on NCL Escape. We're getting married over Memorial Day Weekend, so we're just over 90 days away.

I think RCCL and NCL use the same wedding planner company, Royal Ocean Events. I've been working with Tiffany there, and so far she has been great at replying to emails and answering any of our questions as they come up.

Some basic details: We're getting married while the ship is docked in NYC, before it sails to Bermuda. Currently, we're at about 55 guests, with 12-14 of those sailing on the cruise. We booked a hotel block in Queens the night before the wedding and we're having a little welcome party there since most people are coming in from out of town and the wedding reception is very short for embarkation day weddings. (Why Queens? Because booking event space in Manhattan was SUPER expensive. It was more cost effective to book the hotel in queens and hire a shuttle bus to bring everyone from the hotel to the cruise terminal)

I'll be posting a full recap after the wedding. Let me know if you have any questions in the meanwhile!

  3. Hey all! I'm looking at getting save the dates sent out but want to make & add a wedding website to them for my guest to access all the info! What site have you used to put all the info and look pretty?! If you wouldn't mind sharing links to yours to get an idea I'd be forever grateful!

So I'm probably a bit of a nut, but...

I'm using AppyCouple for the website & app, as well as RSVPs and guest list management. (I like that you can customize the questions on the RSVP) Our site is http://www.greg-shawn.com if you want to check it out.

I'm using Wedding Wire to track the budget and any gifts received, because AppyCouple doesn't have this function. We didn't like the design of Wedding Wire's webpages though.

For our invites we put the time our guests have to be at the terminal, and then listed the tentative schedule on the website.

  4. Technically you'll be canceling your current reservation and making a new one. However, if you give NCL or your TA a call, they'll be able to rebook you and apply your current deposit to your new sailing date.

  5. I am planning to do welcome bags as well. I'm starting to get stuff together. I ordered personalized plastic sunglasses that say me & FH's Wedding Cruise. I ordered beach themed gift bags from Oriental Trading. I plan to do a welcome letter with all the guests room numbers and the wedding timeline.

This is what I have so far:

-Personalized plastic sunglasses that say me & FH's Wedding Cruise.

-Little Sunblock bottles that I personalized with my own labels.

    -Lanyards for the Room Keys

-Waterproof containers for cell phones/etc when going on excursions

-A door magnet that says "wedding Cruise" guests

-Water bottles to use on the ship

-Mint Lifesaver Rolls that I wrapped in my own paper and a tag that says "Minto to be"

    -Playing Cards

Then I'll probably add like Dramamine, advil, tums.. things of that nature.

Where did you get your plastic sunglasses and sunblock? I'm looking for the same thing for my gift bags!

  6. It's always a good idea to get to NYC by some way other than a car, especially if you're able to park for free!

As far as the hotel, I usually look for deals on Priceline. Last time I ended up staying in lower Manhattan in the financial district for about $130. Don't worry about being too close to the cruise terminal; it's not that expensive to take an Uber to the terminal from most anywhere in the city.

  7. I might be late to the party on this thread, but my FH and I have recently decided on a Summer (or maybe Fall) 2018 cruise wedding. Right now we're leaning towards a NCL ship sailing out of NYC, but we're waiting for the itineraries to be posted before we make any decisions.

    So, hello y'all. :)
