  1. Hi CC community,

I'm sailing on the Carnival Miracle for a 6 night cruise in January 2020 and it's been a minute (13 years) since I have last sailed out of San Diego. I do not remember what it was like at all. However, we sailed the Carnival Inspiration last year out of Long Beach and it was an absolute breeze - I think we went from arrival at the terminal to stepping on the ship in 15 minutes.

I'm flying in a day early and staying at the Hotel Republic, but I want to know what embarkation is like for those who have cruised more recently. How long did it take you to go from arrival to check-in to being on board? What is the cruise terminal like - is there food available for purchase? My husband is a T1 diabetic and I need to know 1) how long embarkation usually takes and 2) if there is food/juice available for purchase in case his blood sugar crashes or if I should bring my own. Also, should we take a Lyft down to the terminal, or is it walkable from the Republic?

    Thank you all in advance.

  2. Do. Not. Miss. La Guerrerense. I cannot emphasize this enough. The cart is fine, but try to hit the sit-down place and get their fish/shrimp tacos. Unreal how delicious they are.

  3. Hi. Cruised on the Inspiration in May, before the dry dock.

In February for a 4-day, it should be pretty quiet. Not a lot of 'college drinking', as it is too early for Spring Break on the West Coast.

Not a lot of families either, as it is a M-F cruise. Probably some, as a few will likely take their kids out of school or are home schooled.

If you want a quick, relatively relaxing option, this will not disappoint.

  4. Yeah, we never witnessed the large kettle grills this time around. I suspect they may have eliminated them, now that there's increased seating areas.

    Unless we simply missed them...

No, you're right. We got off the Dawn this past Friday, and none of the days had grills out. Everything was placed on the buffet line on the other side of Topsiders, likely pre-made in the Garden Cafe. They had burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, and toppings out every day for lunch.

  5. Hi all. New to NCL, but not to cruising.

I was wondering if the Mandara Spa has a day pass option. I see on my reservation that they have week-long passes for $129, but nothing for a single day pass. Do day passes to the spa/jacuzzi/steam rooms exist?

    Thanks in advance.
