The same elevator was not working for the whole 14 nights of our Ireland/Iceland cruise last month also!

Our cabin was by the aft elevators on our 24 night Scandinavia & Russia cruise in July and all were working then.  That said, the go-up-to-go-downers meant the stairs were a more attractive option...and I could convince myself that the extra exercise justified another scone at afternoon tea.

Dear Ms Treacle, Sasha will get a real eyeful of the Silhouette as I photographed her relentlessly by day and by night and went overboard (via the gangway) on taking pictures of Norway. It is my favorite ship thus far too.

My thoughts on the Fjords are barely containable. I haven't seen the photos I took there yet as I see them just before I write this. I do look at them for a second when I take them and take a second one if I screwed up the settings but I will say to the Right Honorable Lady, that the vast majority of the captures gave me a sense of satisfaction unmeasurable : if I had to quantify it I would liken it to that feeling when one takes the first sip of a well-poured pint of Guinness.

Please read on as this unfolds .

    Norris, also from N. Ireland

I forgot to sign off my previous post with my real name (as I rarely post on CC even I don’t remember my screen name on here)...

Julie (and Sasha), niece (and great niece) of Norris.  Both along for the virtual Fjords ride while we plan our own next cruise adventure.

  3. Hi! Pleased to have caught your latest cruise report while it’s fresh. Looking forward to seeing what you thought of The Fjords as its nearing the top  of  our cruise bucket list now that Alaska and the Baltics have been ticked off.

Sasha is enjoying the photos too. She’ll love seeing Silhoutte again. Her favourite ship so far. Even better than Disney Wonder apparently! Praise indeed!

  4. Julie, I will be interested in your opinion of the Disney experience after the cruise. What's the sail date so I can check the itinerary?

Happy to hear that mom (my sister) and dad are off sailing on the Britannia.

I know they've done a lot of P&O and NCL sailings. They were on the Escape soon after it escaped from the shipyard I believe?

Kids 5 and under go free?

    Thanks for the speedy response!

    Norris

We are on the 9 night Alaska sailing departing on 24th July 2017.

In this case, whole family goes free! We are guests of a good friend who is 'working' as a Youth Activities Co-ordinator B2B on this sailing and the next 5 night one departing 2nd August. She can bring up to 3 guests along free of charge on DCL and when she asked if we wanted to accompany her, we gave it some serious consideration - that was a tough 10 seconds, I can tell you.

I'm enjoying these Vancouver photos. We're building in 3 nights in Vancouver and 5 nights in Seattle (where our cruise companion currently resides) to the trip and this is giving me a bit of flavour of what to expect.

  5. Shiver me timbers!! Folks this is indeed my niece Julie who is (a) an avid cruiser (b) absolutely bonkers and has a sense of humor in which I see a lot of myself as we have shared in the same gene pool. I haven't seen her in 13 years.

Anyway, Julie, set yer mainsail for a voyage o' delights! There has to be a good reason why Carol and I have sailed to Alaska 3 times out of 10 cruises...30%!

I have about 1400 of them in my camera to share.

Now I have to know- which ship will you sail on?

    Norris

I'm choosing to take 'absolutely bonkers' as a compliment in this instance. I've definitely been called worse ;) Cruising is definitely in the blood - Mum and Dad are off transatlantic again next month aboard the P&O Britannia.

We will be sailing on the good ship Disney Wonder - let's just say someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse and if you're going to sail Disney, best to do it a) on one of their most beautiful ships (I hope it's still as beautiful when it comes out of dry dock in November), b) with a 5 year old who still believes in the magic, and c) for free :)

  6. I am very excited to be making another booking on Hebridean Princess for next September. We are booking the Call of the Emerald Isle cruise, which will take us to Northern Ireland!

    Time for the yearlong wait!

    How exciting for you.

I live in Northern Ireland so if there is anything you want to know, just ask! :)
