We chose Princess because they had the land tour we wanted. Everybody does the same cruise, but only Princess had the land tour from Anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks, Coldfoot and Prudhoe Bay. We are very pleased with Princess.

We don't gamble, we don't go to shows, we don't eat a lot, so all those amenities were secondary to the itinerary. The shore excursions were great, too, in Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan, but I imagine all the cruise lines make the same stops and offer the same shore excursions.

No the Island Princess does not have hand held showers, and from the looks of the one in my cabin, you couildn't take it apart either, to attach your own. If you can find one, those old rubber shower hoses that slipped over the faucet might reach from the sink to the shower stall. The shower head is pretty big, though it is adjustable and the shower stall is pretty small. It's a very compact bathroom.
