  1. We have never braved a hotel that offered the park & shuttle service - most of us love the convenience of walking off the ship & going directly to our car to get on the road home.

SO, what I'm wondering is........I know you said you checked out of the Hotel at 9am because you couldnt get the shuttle until you did. What time did the shuttle start?? What time did you leave the hotel & the time you got TO the port?? & MORE importantly.........HOW long did you have to wait on the shuttle after returning to the port ??

Thanks for the review..I also love lots and lots of pictures...I travel with my Mom too - she's always teasing about the amount of pics I take :D

  2. Is the pic from the port or starboard side?

I will be boarding her in 2 days and I will check it out. I am guessing it should be repaired by then.

    ETA: I'm guessing starboard.

This pic is of PORT side-just outside of the Windjammer and directly to the left of the pool bar ! I was just on her last week & also have friends on this cruise..we were in 15-16ft seas and 35knot winds coming back last Mon into Tues & during that entire last day because of winds ALL the deck chairs were taken up, stacked and tied down...I find the "wave" winds and roughness a bogus story considering the chairs are so straight in the pic..and the stuff in the foreground is definitely NOT any kind of seaweed..its clearly a water trail that has come from the steps of the hottub & pool area

  3. I have been on the Pride twice & I'm interested in knowing if you cabin on 8 is noisy being under the pool deck & buffet?????????????? last time we were on 5 and really enjoyed our balcony room closer to the water - thought 8 may be noisy...had that problem on a RCI ship with the "rolling carts" on the tile floor underneath the Park Cafe..NEVER want to do that again

enjoy your cruise!! I LOVE the layout of The Pride

  4. On the Pride they have cellular service with most major carriers. I have a smart phone (although it's a lot like a smart car, not really so smart!) and I have Verizon (hate em) service. I had service through my phone which I has a wifi hotspot. I called Verizon long before I went on the cruise and they (customer service)said something like "you have unlimited data service so it really doesn't matter how you use it. You should see no additional charges." I Just paid an extra $75 this month for that service. (I cut it off after 2 days at sea when I started getting messages that I had used $25, then $50.) BUT THE SERVICE WAS GOOD. I measured a square 1.5 Mbps (up & down) at one point. There's really a lot more to it but that's the jest!

    Sudsy:)

I have a 4G (Verizon which has the best coverage and service that I like) phone BUT I wont be using it on the ship once we get out of the Bay..the extra charges are crazy!

  5. Thank you for clearing that up and also for talking with the two officers about the engine/propulsion problem.

I was on this ship back in November and the Internet was slow as molasses and it kicked you right out of whatever you were doing at the time. They really, really need to replace/fix/all those computers

Hopefully that is one of the things they will do when she goes into Dry-Dock.

Enjoy yourself on this cruise. ;)

they dont need to fix or replace the computers..the biggest problem is the SATELLITE...it's a ship, sailing at sea..they are not equipped with 3G or 4G service nor do they have high speed internet

I call the ship regularly on my regular landline phone and often canNOT get thru...its all the same thing - the satellite

matter of fact..I'm fixin to call the ship right now! lets see how the connection is................

  6. Thanks!! :) All I would need is some open floor space, and something to plug my iPod into since I won't be able to bring my usual sound system. Hopefully they can work with me on it, even if it's just one day later on in the cruise so that there is enough time to spread the word for interest first.

they should be able to do this in one of the lounges during the afternoons..one that usually has bands and dancing at night..I wish you luck & hope the fever spreads !

  7. I am a licensed Zumba Instructor and I emailed Royal Caribbean to ask if Zumba classes are offered.... I will be on Jewel of the Seas embarking from Boston on October 15th. They responded that I would need to check my cruise compass once on board to see what fitness classes will be offered, and that I could go to the "customer service" (I know that's probably not the correct term) desk to let them know I'd be interesting/willing to teach a class during the cruise. So I will bring my iPod just in case so that I'm ready! :)

I'm sooo jealous! I wish I was on your sailing...I would LOVE to team up with you for zumba class...I hope you give it a shot & let them see how popular it may or may not be..personally, I think you'll have a FULL class :D

  8. this is awesome! glad to hear that it is catching on on some ships-and I hope it catches on some of the smaller class ships..there werent any offered when I was on the Grandeur the last time before they moved her from Baltimore..but I'd welcome some classes on the Enchantment !

another great thing about zumba (at least in my experience with the classes at the YMCA) you can modify it for all shapes, sizes & abilities...or lack there of ! :D

my days off are few and far between & usually I sleep in on those days..but tomorrow I'll be at the Y at a 730zm zumba class ..that's a 1st !

  9. someone else said that they recently had it poolside..I'd rather have it in one of the dance lounges where there's AIR conditioning! those who zumba understand I'm sure IT's HOT ! and classes should be an hour long as most of them are..1 or 2 songs worth for a 'cardio' is a waste of time and would kinda defeat the purpose..I'm sure the pilates classes are an hour long as well

I never said to "DO a class" at sail away..I just compared it to the line dancing they ALREADY do on the pool deck at sail away parties

  10. Nah... not into that type of workout but just because it's not my workout preference it doesn't mean it isn't a great idea for those who would!

I'm in favor of any workout that gets people to workout. GO ZUMBA! lol

I'm not really in favor of a 30-60 minute Zumba class on the pool deck though. If you want to workout, it should be in the gym. Sorry, the's the only nay I have.

If you've never been to a Zumba class then you wouldnt realize that its not that different then the line dancing they do at sail away...its just a little more cardio & shaking going on:)

  11. That's great!! When I asked RCL if they were going to add it, their response sounded quite positive that they are considering it. I think with Princess adding it to their itinerary it certainly puts pressure on other cruise lines to follow suit!! Let's just ask them over and over until they cave. :D Send them a message through this link:

    https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/contactUsOnline.do

let's hope this works !!! I submitted my request via your link...and IF Zumba isnt on the ships before my next RCL cruise in March then I'll put it on a comment card...surely would LOVE to see it wayyy before then though

    let the Booty Shakin begin!

  12. I recently started taking Zumba & Jazzercise classes at my local gym..I LOVE the Zumba & it's GREAT excercise too loaded with high energy fun fun FUN ! normally I never would go to the gym or excercise during my cruise vacation but I would certainly do this if they had it :)

so I'm just wondering if others would be interested in it as well & hoping Royal Caribbean sees this & considers trying it out. I think it would become popular on the ships as it is very popular here where I'm from..and if you really think about it, it's just a little more than the line dancing they do up on deck at sailaway..high energy hip-hop kind of line dancing

    Bring on Zumba !!

  13. LOVE love LOVE the pics of the Sheraton!! excited that we are going there in October...and on the Glory as well..I would really love it if it is tha 'busy' when we go..I'm all about a nice QUIET beach or pool day :D

I did notice the very small baby in the pool..I'm sure there was a diaper envolved somewhere ewwwwwwwwwwww

Thanks for the review and mostly the pictures!

  14. we received the royal treatment too - sand was swept etc with the exception of the waters..we were told only the 3 liters..of course we could get more but they were not complimentary..guess you got the GOOD cabana boy! LOL I take some of that back....our towels weren't folded or shaken either..and we rationed the water early because the 3 botttles wasnt really enough for 6 people..so you DID get the good cabana boy

I do have a question for you though....back on embarkation day you posted a pic inside the port..HOW did you do that??! every single time I think I'm getting one SOMEbody sees it and I am quickly accosted and made to DELETE the picture and show that it was done or they threaten to take my memory card..it is posted everywhere that you are not allowed to take pics inside the port for security reasons...so how did you sneak?? I was bombarded on my last cruise in March for the 3rd time doing this!

  15. Inside the Cabana you will find nice Lounge chairs, A cooler filled with ice and unlimited large bottles (40oz) of water. Also included are mats, mask/snorkel, and beach towels. There is no need to take any towels with you to the cabana. . .Nice.

I'm just catching up on this thread..LOVE all the pics of the Allure..I wanted to point out to all that Barefoot Beach IS accessible to anyone with a GOLD card seapass (suites guests only not including junior suites & diamond plus members) they have made this a private beach for those guests..and then of course anyone who may have rented a cabana. Suite guests have first dibs on the cabanas and if they do not all get reserved they will open it to others ...I also wanted to add that the cooler has 3 1liter bottles of water in them ..but the water is NOT 'unlimited' this is all of the water that is included in the price..I specifically asked because I am a big water drinker especially on a HOT beach day and once the 3 are gone you must pay for any refills...you would think it to be unlimited with the price you pay for the cabana but it is not. The max IS 6 persons per cabana & I loved the upgraded buffet..all in all it is well worth the extra money!!
