Occasionally, Anthem of the Seas will do a Canada / New England itinerary and visit Boston.  When the Oasis of the Seas does a similar itinerary, it skips Boston.

The Anthem has a draft of 29 feet.  Oasis has a draft of 31 feet.  Queen Mary 2 has a draft of 34 feet and visits Boston.

Per this article, the harbor depth should be sufficient.

    So my questions are:

Can the harbor and cruise port accomodate an Oasis class ship?

Why do you think an Oasis class ship will not home port / visit Boston for at least during the months of May - September?

My guess was depth and demand, but that should change in time

  2. I can't believe the price they are asking for the New Encore 7 day sailing for April 2020. The itinerary sucks and I only paid $700 more for my 15 day Panama Canal on the Bliss for 2019 inside cabin vs Encore balcony cabin. They've lost their mind. Over 5k for this on Encore without gratuities or beverage promos too. Who is actually booking this ripoff? I loved the Escape and paid about half that price. To compare, I booked an extended aft balcony on Carnival's new Panorama for seven days in April 2020. Openings started this week. I got it for $2000+ less than the week on Encore for seven days. That's a huge difference and way better deal, almost absurd. Why the ludicrous price for Encore and who's foolish enough to book this turd of a sailing?
They charge what they charge to recoup expenses as well as the fact that people pay these outrageous prices

  3. I've often seen here people suggesting that we ignore the "deals" and just look at the price. Fair enough in that I'llmake my decision based on price, but I still call it dishonest when they change the starting point to make it seem a better deal that's no better.

Agreed. I guess it's a matter of being more diligent when deals are available

  4. My wife and I are in our early 60s and looking for a nice cruise experience to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary this yesterday. We have been on 2 cruises long ago - 1988 & 2008. Both were with RCCL, to the Caribbean (Western & Eastern). We were directed to RCCL by a travel agent for a more “classy” cruise than a “fun ship”. We were very satisfied both times. However, much could have changed in the cruise industry since then. We are seeking recommendations on cruise line, cruise ship, destination. We are thinking of a Caribbean, Bahamas or Alaskan cruise, about 7 days, at a reasonable cost. We like dining, entertainment, ports of call excursions.

A specific question is since we have been on 2 RCCL cruises, are there any significant advantages to staying with RCCL this time?

Your advice and recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on your 40th! As far as sticking with Royal Caribbean? Well it depends on weather or not you want a slightly different cruising experience. The last 3 cruises I've been on here been between NCL and Carnival.(so far Royal Caribbean and Norwegian has been the best experience for me.
