  1. We were there last year, and it was one of my favorite stops for an easy beach day. The beach is free as are the chairs. I think the umbrellas were for rent, we found a nice selection of chairs (loungers) around a grove of palm trees and it was perfect. There is a bar with food/drinks for sale, as well as snorkel gear and other things to buy and rent. You can get a pass for the chair lift, the walk is only 5 minutes and wasn't far at all for us.

  2.

@BallFour4, there are a lot of us on the four ships trying to get to Galveston that are looking for practical information. If you could post periodic updates it would be greatly appreciated.

Curious hows the mood on board?

  3. First - sorry to all of you who's plans for this weak are now trashed.

The stories I'm interested in is the people out on the ships, either doing circles in the Gulf or stopping up in NOLA to grab fuel and beer. I read that the ones in NOLA have the option to get off and find a way home - I'm from Chicago area so I'm guessing with work, I wouldn't have a good excuse as to why I got back on to extend my vacation - but I sure would want to - couple extra days, and sea days at that - it's gotta be a good time for some of the people - sure the "theres no table cloths" people are gonna moan and carry on - how about the ones who like to roll with it and understand that some things just happen and make the best of it.

And those of you now finding something else to do this week - what are you gonna do to fill the now - unplanned - itinerary?

  4. thanks for the good stuff - we are going on the Splendor in 2 weeks and I was starting to wonder because everyone carries on about the newer ships, and nit picks so much.

We are on the spa deck in an interior and can't wait! I will be sure to avoid the Tandoor at all costs - thanks for the heads up!

  5. found this place on the far side of the island. Great bar and laid back atmosphere. They rent wind surfer boards that comes with a lesson. An hour or 90 mins I don't remember. The whole bay is only waste deep, great time to be had.

I haven't seen any excursion for this, if you get a taxi, you may have to arrange a pickup which I am sure they will do.

  6. if your walking around shopping and you see CoCo Man you've got to stop and get one. I think it was only $1 but I gave him a couple - he has cold fresh coconuts in a cooler of his old truck - chops the top off with a machete and pops in a straw. Enjoy the cold milk, then return, he chops it in half and gives you a spoon to scrape out the fresh coconut. I'd go back for this alone!

  7. So I received a $500 gift card from work and I am planning on putting it on our S&S acct. Obviously we can charge whatever as we go.

My question is can I use any of these funds in the casino? I thought I read you can add slot credits, can I do this on table games? And can I just cash out if there is a balance at the end (yea right)

I would imagine if this is how it works on a gift card, I could use a credit card the same way - without receiving any credit card cash out transaction fees. This would work for me as I am a mileage/points junky and normally pay off my cards weekly/monthly, and am looking to minimize the amount of cash we are taking with us to only have some for the islands (and singles for tips)

    Any input is great!

  8. I'm on the April 2nd sailing and as we sail for the ship rather than the destinations im kinda hoping for a change in ports and 50% off this cruise and the next one LOL

In all seriousness hope everything is fixed in time and glad everyone is safe and well
