  1. If a cruise line cancels your sailing and will not offer you a refund, call your credit card

company and submit a chargeback.  You essentially paid for something you never received and therefore you should get a refund.  Going down this route essentially means the credit card company then deals with the merchant on your behalf.

  2. If Windstar will not refund you and they canceled the cruise, call your credit card company and initiate a chargeback.  The credit card will refund you and deal with Windstar on your behalf.  Essentially you did not get what you paid for so Windstar policy aside/Coronavirus aside, this is what I would recommend.

  3. One thing to keep in mind is that the Paul Gauguin was specifically designed for sailing the waters of French Polynesia, hence the very shallow draft and Polynesian feel around the ship. I've done the PG 6 times and have been on all of Windstar's ships too. PG has more of a luxury feel (and is technically considered a luxury operator with drinks and gratuities included), but also feels like a mini cruise ship. Windstar is more intimate. I really, really like the fact that you can swim off the marina on the Windstar, but you are not allowed to swim on the marina on the PG (only kayak, windsurf, etc).

  4. Hi all,

Just FYI, Windstar has updated their dress code for Candles and shorts are no longer allowed. Not a massive change, but if you are on the Wind Spirit or Wind Star sitting around the pool on a hot night for dinner, it is not really the most logical dress code update.

(Found this out on my last WS cruise)

  5. Hi all,

I am thinking about trying a Seabourn cruise after sailing many times with Windstar (both sail and ex-Seabourn ships). What I love about Windstar is the intimate, small-ship feel, and very casual luxury. While the all-inclusive, luxury aspect of Seabourn is very appealing, I am worried that the ships will feel more like "ships" rather than intimate yachts where you get to know a lot of people. Any comments or thoughts? How intimate/small-ship feel is Seabourn these days?

  6. Hello,

I believe you are referring to the two owners suites in the bow of the ship on deck 6. I was on the same cruise and took a look at those on disembarkation day. Overall, I would describe the feel as very similar to the Yacht Club on the top deck, with dark woods offset by light soft furnishings. Very nice. My only complaint is that they do not have a bath...I personally love to take a bath when at sea once in a while, but I guess it is not that big of a deal.

  7. In my humble opinion, it is definitely not worth it to pay the extra money just to be higher up when the cabins are exactly the same. I even prefer deck 4 as there is a lower center of gravity. Having been on all 3 Star class ships, I have never noticed any smoking odors from downstairs or major vibrations.
