  1. We just returned today from our cruise and would highly recommend this off site parking. Its the garage located 1415 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami. TO PORT: The shuttle was waiting for us when we were unloading our luggage from the car. Within 10 mins. we were on our way to the POM. RETURN FROM PORT: Met the shuttle on the center island across from the terminal - opposite side of the taxis. Shuttle arrived very fast and we were on the road home within 45 mins. from pick up.

Never a problem!! Will definitively use them again. www global airport parking dot com

Is this a garage or a surface lot?

  2. Cruisinagain: We are trying the place advertising right at the top of this thread. Portofmiamcruiseparking dot com for $4.50 a day. However, we are leaving on 11/23 and not coming back until December 4th so it looks like I won't be able to let you know how it was before you leave (the same day we are getting back) Take a look at their website. I paid through Paypal, got a confirmation email, so it looks good so far. They suggest you drop off your luggage, go back over the bridge to park and then take a taxi (which they said is on site) for $3 back to the ship. It beats $20 a day especially for a long cruise or a B2B.

Yes, I found this site, also, and was wondering about it since it is so much less that other parking places. We're on a 5 night cruise the first wk. of Feb. and the fee is $22.50. I mapquested their address to the POM and also googled the taxi fare which runs slightly less than $10 each way. They claim they have taxis waiting at the parking to take you and also there will be plenty of taxis to bring you back from your ship. This seems too good to be true, so we'll await your report. I realize this is a surface lot and not a parking garage which others are, so that may be the difference.

  3. We are leaving on the Discovery Aug. 28 on their cruise from Budapest to the Black Sea. Yes, they have sold this ship, but apparently it is finishing most of the itinerary for this summer. We have our travel documents now with all the info on that ship. Don't know anything about the other ship, but may find out. I will report upon our return. This is our first Vantage trip and first river cruise, so have nothing to compare. So far we have been satisfied working with Vantage. They do not use TAs, so you have to communicate w/them directly.

  4. We were on this same tour and found it to be the most disappointing cruise that we've been on. Loved Newport and Bar Harbor. The weather was good on the stops there, also. We used the Silverline bus and the subway to get into Boston and walked the Freedom Trail to Paul Revere's house and the old North Church. You can go either left or right when you leave the ship and walk to either end of the Black Falcon pier. The bus stops at either end--just look for the signs. We had a car in St. John and drove to St. Andrew's by the Sea. Because of the weather, we didn't get to enjoy the town, but had some nice views on the way. Missed the reversing tides, but saw the place where you look at them. The Maritime Museum in Halifax was great. They have their Titanic exhibit and also had a special exhibit about pirates and pirateering. It's a reasonable walk from the ship. The FRED bus is a great idea, but it's so full of people that you can't really see anything while you're riding around. I think we enjoyed Sydney about the most of all the Nova Scotia ports. We rented a car (be sure and check Budget as they have an office in the town. We used Avis and had to go to the airport to pick up the vehicle, but they did pick us up and return us to the ship). We drove to Baddeck and went through the Alexander G. Bell museum. The drive was beautiful and it was a nice day.

The stop at Corner Brook was a huge disappointment. On top of not getting to go to PEI, the weather was AWFUL and this place has nothing! My recommendation would be to not pick a cruise that has this as one of it's ports. The people were very nice, however.

Quebec City was great despite the chilly weather. We walked all over the old town and used the funicular to go up. We also took a city bus and just rode to the end of the line and back.

We didn't go on a single ship's tour, and felt like we saw enough of each of the ports.
