Very nice. We did the same thing when we visited Flam in late June! That first couple of km was scary... after that, exhilirating. We stopped for lunch at the farm where the goats were from- homemade cheese, sausage, etc. It was a gorgeous day.

Sky to Fjord Bike Ride in Geiranger is AMAZING. I can't recommend it enough! Quick 30 minute bus ride to the top, then you go. So beautiful! I took a video of our ride.
It's very little pedaling as it is mostly downhill at a 9-10% grade. Yes, you have to go single file because there is traffic. Yes, it helps if you can actually ride a bike. :)

We were in Alesund on the Koningsdam earlier this month. We also rented a car through Avis, a few months in advance. It was a very easy process. We drove out to Trollstigen via Andalsnes, then back around to the island of Alnes to see the lighthouse, go to the beach, and then back to town. A gorgeous drive all around. Trollstigen was fantastic. We had a manual transmission, which, IMO, is far easier to maneuver in this type of driving to control speed. The road itself is pretty hairy - there are a few spots that are for one vehicle only, and we had 2 buses trying to pass each other. It took a while and traffic became very backed up. But, the view at the top was amazing, and the drive down the other side was very pleasant.:D

I am looking forward to hearing your impressions of Koningsdam when you return. I am on her 6/25 for the same cruise!
Me, too! We are on the 6/25 cruise and staying on for another week. Can't wait!

I just called to ask some questions about excursions I am considering on the Koningsdam on the June 25 cruise, and I asked the rep what the EXC was about. He said just a rebranding, no substantive change.

I second the Kindle comment - it's the perfect solution for cruisers. I find it interesting that the library of a cruise ship is such a big deal.

I managed to capture pretty much the whole ride. I had my little point and shoot mounted on a gorillapod on my handlebars. We took the excursion through the ship. It was a little crowded, but the views were amazing!
