Thank you, Notentirelynormal, for the explanation. Your response was exactly what I needed.

I guess I need to clarify myself. I am wanting to know how long will it take us to disembark and walk to where the tours begin. In Ketchikan we are to meet outside the Ketchikan Visitors Bureau. Since we have never cruised before I have no idea how long it will take to disembark and how long it will take us to walk to the Visitors Bureau.

Hi. This is my first cruise and first to Alaska. We leave in only a few days and I am so excited. We have an 8:45 am excursion in Ketchikan and an 8:30 excursion in Skagway (not through Princess). We of course want to get there about 15 minutes before each excursion. Should we plan on disembarking 30 to 45 minutes prior to the tour or do we need to allow more time?

Thank you all for your replies. This helps a lot.

This is my first cruise (Alaska) so this may seem like a silly question to those who have cruised before. If we have bottled water, will we be able to take it off the ship so we can have some water with us on our tours?

What kind of transportation are you planning on using being so far out? We don't mind staying out of town but need reasonable transportation to port and downtown area.

The TownePlace has a free shuttle from the airport. I think we can take the light rail to Pike Place which is were we will get on the tour. And, not sure about Sunday, maybe Uber to take us to Pier 91

We are cruising May 2017 and we have booked the TownePlace Suites at Seattle Southcenter (Kent). It was only $88 per night and has a hot breakfast buffet. We will get there Friday night and plan to tour Snoqualmie Falls on Saturday. Then sail out on Sunday. This is our first cruise and so excited!

I've stayed at Moody Gardens for a conference. It is really nice. Since we drove down I don't know how far it is from Hobby. We did drive down to the port and it was probably about a 15-20 minute drive.

Any suggestions for shoes for an Alaskan cruise? With the wet climate I am unsure about the best choice for foot wear.

Hi
I am enjoying your trip. I am taking my first cruise in May and I can hardly wait. We are going to Alaska on the Emerald (from Seattle). I hope my pictures turn out half as nice as yours.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Hi all. This will be my first ever cruise and I am so excited. We will be travelling from Seattle to Alaska on Emerald in May 2017. I have been avidly reading all the advice to cruisers and have found some reviews on travel to Alaska but haven't found any that have taken the trip from Seattle (maybe I just haven't found it yet). Anyway, I am looking for any and all tips, suggestions, and general info that you are willing to share. :)

Thanks Eaglecw. We will be prepared for anything and I have the tour company's phone number just in case we need it.
