One thing to note here, if you do this your payment will not be refunded to your card, but rather to refundable OBC which if not used will be refunded to your card or cash at the end of your cruise.

Whoever you spoke to was mistaken. You can use your OBC for shore excursions, gratuities, and internet packages. I believe you can use it for the drink packages as well but have never tried. You can not use your OBC for anything before you get on the ship.

I had something very nice happen this morning. I was out and about and unable to stop for my usual lunch, so I stopped at a nearby McDonalds. When I got to the pay window, for some reason, I asked about a senior discount. The very nice cashier said "I'll see what I can do'. He fiddled with the pos system for a minute, the said "How about $1.72". I thought he was talking about that as a discount, but that is what I was charged for the whole meal!

As a note on using gift cards. I sent my Travel Agent 11 gift cards to use today. In the past she has had to call HAL and read the number/pin to an agent there. She told me that she can now enter the card numbers and pins into a web site for payment. Much easier. All were applied without a problem this afternoon.
