Hi cruisers,
I just booked a last minute cruise, and I’m kicking myself for not doing more research, but apparently we will be on Cozumel with 7 other ships and Mr Sanchos is sold out of course. 😩. The kids were looking forward to it so much. The kids (four 20 year olds) wanted to go so bad. And so did us parents.
So please help me with recommendations on other Mr Sanchos-like places I can try. 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Or something else that would be super fun.
Thank you!

I always tip at least 20%. We are doing a tour in Jamaica with multiple stops. It costs $200 for my party of 4. I will most likely give a $40 tip ($10 from each person), or a little more depending on how much fun we have.
I'll bring a handful of singles to tip at the Falls or Blue Hole if I feel I need to.

Give these folks a call.
Obviously, nobody has any post Covid info or reviews on them, but we had a great day with them a few years back.
Stingray Sailing is the best! I tried to book them for my upcoming cruise in July and their response is below. I am sooo bummed. 😞
"Unfortunately, due to cayman government, our crew was forced to take normal 9-5 jobs for the remainder of 2022. Our operation is only able to offer weekend private charters. We hope you be back up and operational fully in 2023."

Anxiously awaiting the rest of this review. :):):):):)

“Hi Janet. Sharon M. says "Hi” to which Janet replied “Tell that B***H to get on a Boat” Conclusion # 806 – The tone for the Day had been set.
LMAO!! :')
Great review. I can't wait to sail with you two again in Oct 2018. I'll make sure you get up in time for the gym. ;)

I totally forgot that you said you wrote a journal. I just remembered when I facebook messaged you a few minutes ago. :') I'm going to start reading.

Great, thanks for all your replies.

Did you check out the piano bar?

Thanks all! About how long is the drive from Hobby?
-
Does anyone know what time they usually start boarding in Long Beach?
TIA

Thank you. :) I've seen Galveston Express mentioned here too.

Hey all. I've never cruised out of Galveston before. Wondering how difficult it is to get to the port from either IAH or Hobby. Not sure which we would fly in to. Advice??

I was on the Carnival Miracle out of NYC during Hurricane Sandy. The ship left a day earlier (the cruise before us lost a day). We had the option of cancelling the cruise, but we decided to go. The first night was a doozy! There were lots of sick people. All furniture from the balconies had to be brought into the staterooms and we weren't allowed out on the open decks. It ended up being a great cruise, but I'd never sail through a hurricane again.
Carnival did a great job of keeping us informed in the 48 hours before we were scheduled to embark.

Can't wait to hear more.

Thanks for the review! We sail on the Adventure at the end of January. :D

Thanks for the replies. I just read somewhere else that you are not allowed to bring anything but a bottle of wine per person.
-
Is there a place to buy bottles of wine and water at the Pan Am Pier? Are we even allowed to bring our own water on board (RCI)?
Thanks.

I hate when people put their trays in the hallway. It's nasty. Whether on a ship or in a hotel I say leave them in the room.

For those who know Levi Baron ( Bumpiing Tours ), We have been in touch with him and he , his family and co-workers are all well and dealing with the unfortunate circumstances. It will take some time before Dominica recovers so support them however you can.
Thank you for the update on Levi and his co-workers. I've been thinking about them. :(

Pan American pier is across a harbor from OSJ. The traffic around the pier should not be too much worse than usual. The closest hotels to the pier would be the Sheraton Puerto Rico resort and Casino (not to be confused with the OSJ Sheraton!) and the Hyatt House. Neither are walking distance to the pier. I would elect to stay in the Condado or Isla Verde areas instead. The area near the pier is not very walkable and there are limited options for restaurants and stores.
Get to the pier as early as possible (around noon) and stay completely away from OSJ and you should be fine.
Thanks, but if we do decide to fly in a day early we will stay near the pier. I don't need to walk around or shop. We've been to San Juan a handful of times (just never sailed out of PanAm Pier) and we'll eat at the hotel. It's just one night.

The PanAm pier on on the south side of the San Juan Bay, near the Convention Center. There is a Sheraton there. Old San Juan (where SanSe happens) is on the north side of the bay. You do not have to go into Old San Juan at all to get to the PanAm pier, though the ride from the SJU airport to both the convention center district and Old San Juan start out on the same route, and then split near the Condado Lagoon. There is the possibility that you might end up in _some_ traffic, but not the nightmare of going all the way into Old San Juan during SanSe.
Thanks Ray! Based on what you said, I may still come in the day of the cruise instead of the day before.

I just found out my cruise leaves on the weekend of the San Sebastian festival. We are boarding at the Pam Am Pier. My flight is scheduled to arrive at noon on Saturday 1/16. Will I really sit in hours of traffic?
Also, if I decide to come in a day early, which hotels are closest to the Pan Am Pier?
Thanks in advance.
