I apologize in advance if the Blue Hole falls into the "falls" category for you.  Our family went on an island tour, Blue Hole, and lunch at Scotchies with Ricardo Riley from libertytoursjamaica@gmail.com and it was one of the best excursions we've ever been on.  He took just us and will change the trip to be just what you want it to be (for example, we aren't ever interested in stopping to shop).  The Blue Hole was soooo beautiful and lots of fun for our entire family.  It wasn't crowded and we didn't feel rushed at all.  Lunch was delicious at the Red Stripes were cold :-).  Hope that helps and if interested I'd give them a try.

Does Blue Hole have different activities and things to see other than falls/water? We aren't interested in any climbing/jumping/swimming.

I will look into Liberty Tours Jamaica - thanks!

  2. This may have been asked and buried in a different post somewhere but does anyone know if it is possible to order breakfast items via room service in YC that are not on the official room service menu? Such as those on the menu posted above?

I ask because on NCL (suite) they told us that we could order whatever we wanted for breakfast (within reason and if available, of course) even though not on the menu - just to manually write on the card what we wanted.

Not sure if that's something MSC will do.

    Thanks!!

  3. Looking for personal recommendations for excursions in Ocho Rios that do NOT include the below listed activities. I've looked around and seems most excursions fall into these categories I am not interested in.

Cruise line offered option I am considering is Green Grotto caves but would rather book with reputable local company directly rather than the line.
I did find "Countryside Sightseeing with Lunch" provided by Shore Excursions Group but cannot locate any actual reviews of this tour. I know SEG is just the broker but no clue who they use. I don't think I'd be up for booking it without someone that has personally done it recommending it. If it's just 5 hrs of people begging us to buy stuff, not interested.

Worst case, will just stay on ship or maybe just head over to Margaritaville for awhile...

Fyi, we are mid to late 40s, appreciate good food and drink (read: alcohol), and having fun.
One note is really large crowds filled with annoying people make me want to punch someone (don't think I'd actually do it though!). This is why I tend to shy away from excursions booked through cruise line as I prefer smaller groups rather than playing "let's see how many people we can shove in this single excursion."

    Not interested in:
    Falls
    dolphins
    kayaking
    horseback riding
    bobsledding
    snorkeling
    ziplining
    tubing
    all day beach day

  4. Agree with what has already been posted.

We sailed from Vancouver in Sept and it was sunny and 70s for the first half and 50ish and raining for the second half. But there's no way of knowing for sure what your weather will be like.

    I took:

One pair of waterproof Columbia sneakers (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01015TXGU) and one pair of comfy Skechers sneakers that I waterproofed myself and those worked for everything.

Base top layers, t-shirts, sweatshirts, a fleece, and a good waterproof outer shell w/hood and just customized each day as necessary.

Also several pairs of Columbia waterproof or fast dry pants that I could wear over a lower base layer as well. I knew wet jeans would suck and I think I took only a couple pair for our whole trip.

  5. Glad to read you can register different credit cards per guest as that is likely what we will do.

Quick question: does anyone know how it works if have OBC from TA? Does that automatically get split between guests? Only to one person in room (which one)? Totally configurable at kiosk to assign differing $$$ to different guests?

    Thanks!

  6. La Cucina is on deck 5, entrance on deck 6. Easy to find? (On the Sun)

We used the deck 6 entrance (down a flight of stairs) to La Cucina a couple times but usually just entered by going through Four Season on deck 5 (in back around the left side). Either is easy but seemed going through Four Season was just always more convenient for us since right off atrium. The entrance via stairs on desk 6 is right in between Dazzles and Windjammer (starboard side).

  7. Hello, just wondering how you liked the suite and Carlos?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

LOVED the suite. We had excellent weather the first half of cruise so we and our friends used the balcony quite a bit then and for Glacier Bay day.

Carlos was wonderful and Rashida was excellent. Iirc she said she is usually assigned to the larger ships but they put her on the Sun for a few months to see what the smaller ones were like. She's off to home now for extended time off and will be on the Bliss when she sails.

Our main assigned steward (name on card in room - Rizki, I think) we only saw for about a min or 2 on the first day. It was all Lesroy from there on out and he was exceptional!

For anyone concerned about noise from Stardust, I only noticed a little (not even noise, more like vibrations from music) the last night and it did not bother me.

  8. If you do not want to pack a power strip then do what I do packing a triplex plug 1 in and 3 out - add a short

extension cord to make it easier to plug in your devices in a compact area. The black plug allows access

to a recessed outlet. While packing a power strip may confuse the uneducated security folks thinking it is a

surge suppression device this application doesn't have the outlets in a strip with circuit breaker.

With a second triplex plug increases the outlets available to 5 - if you need more I think you best check with

the ships engineering department - you power hungry rascal !

    Image:

Thanks for the info but I think I'm good. With the confirmed outlets in the room, plus I have a 220v usb plug with 2 outlets, I should be golden.

  9. I was on the Sun in Jan in 9276. Can't remember how many outlets exactly were in the suite. The two of us each travel with a Kindle, phone and iPad, plus one camera. I do remember an dual voltage outlet at the vanity in the dressing area off the bathroom. The hair dryer was plugged in there, but I just unplugged when needed and charged my phone or ipad. There were outlets at the desk. I also recall charging my camera in the living room area. There was a table beside the sofa and a wall outlet there. We always carry a power strip and a coupe of plug ins with 2 USB ports since life is all about our devices these days. You should be OK for charging your devices.

    Thank you for the info!

Do you recall if you used your power strip? I'm thinking I'd like to leave mine home but I don't want to have to do the "unplug one device to plug in another" thing over and over especially since they would rather you not have anything plugged in when not in the room.

  10. I was about to say most bathrooms do not have outlets - just those little low wattage/voltage ones for a razor.

Then I remember on the Jewel class that have them in the Master Bath. So.. maybe...

I assume there is a reason you are asking - able to charge phones in every room or something?

Mainly I'm asking so I know exactly how many outlets there are and where we can charge our phones, cameras, kindle, etc. Trying to determine if I should bring my (non surge protected) power strip or not.

Also would like to know if I can use the hair dryer (I understand the suites on Sun have real hair dryers) and curling iron in the actual bathroom .

  11. Can anyone that has been on the Sun in one of the aft facing penthouse suites (SE) - (8077, 8277, 9076, 9276, 0065, or 0265) please let me know how many outlets there are and where they are located? I know from pictures/videos I've seen there are 2 110V and one 220V by the desk but is that it? I'm wondering about the rest of the living area, bedroom, bathroom, and entrance hall.

I've tried combing through videos but just haven't been able to tell if there are others.

    Thank you so much!

  12. I had a prob on 8/24 (trying to purchase water) where it kept saying declined. I tried 3 different cards with no luck. Called up and placed order over phone using one of those same cards and no issues. Of course she told me I was the first she'd heard of having any issues.

  13. Regarding your specific question, per the FAQ: https://www.ncl.com/content/upgrade-advantage-faq

If I have two reservations can I bid only once and if accepted, cancel the second reservation and move the guests into the upgraded cabin?

No, if you have two cabins you will need to submit two separate bids and they will be considered independently. NCL cannot guarantee that both reservations will be upgraded. In the case that one of the reservations gets upgraded, you cannot move the other guests into the upgraded cabin. All reservations cancelled within the penalty period will be subject to cancellation fees.

  14. I can see mine in three places:

    - eDocs under "Current Reservations"

    - Vacation Summary > Itinerary, Onboard Packages, Gifts & More Items

---- The Booked column on Itinerary Overview shows a number under Booked for the days and clicking on the actual date shows the reservation.

    - Approx an hour after I made mine, I received an email with the information.

  15. My sister in law is always talking about wanting to go on an Alaskan cruise, but she recently had a DUI that was pled down to -I think- reckless driving. Could this still stop her entrance to Canada?

I think the only way they can positively know is to actually contact Canadian immigration. Per their site, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/inadmissibility/conviction.asp, "dangerous driving" is on their list of example offences that *could* result in not being allowed in.

  16. 0065 is an Aft Penthouse Suite (SE) and the balcony sort of wraps around one side. The part that wraps around is semi enclosed.

The following two videos are from an SE on a different deck but would be the same (except opposite):

  17. This is what we're hoping to do. How did you convert your OBC into separate tips for your butler, concierge, and steward ?

Did you convert it to cash ?

Did guest services give specific amounts to them out of your OBC ?

We're also wondering whether remaining OBC would be automatically applied to the DSC at the end of the cruise (we didn't prepay DSC).

From what I have read, Guest Services will deposit an amount you specify into their account (you have to provide the name/position, I believe) and they will give you a slip you can give to the person so they are aware.

REFUNDABLE OBC you have, if any, can be applied to DSC. Non refundable OBC cannot be used for DSC.

  18. I've never used non-refundable OBC for the casino but have used it for tips for butler, concierge and room steward with no issues.

As have most people it seems but how did you *know* your non refundable OBC was being used for those additional tips and that you weren't being charged additional to your account?

Or is it just that I should trust the system and workers to do everything correctly and not worry about being one of the unlucky ones?

I assume you don't specifically state to them you'd like to use non refundable OBC for the additional tips? Or do you?
