I went on a Rhine cruise with my 85 year old mother last year. She managed okay, preferring to wait while I did exploring at times, but "too old" ... NO.

Senior rates in various situations can be fluid. Some folks can receive a full pension by then, so it's not an unrealistic minimum number.

Which cabins on Star Pride are newly added? 

Ben and David seem popular here, which I fully understand. My respect for them soared when they saw to it that their friend Steph was clearly having a lot of fun during a difficult point for her. 

Started this thread to ask whether many here also follow Gary Bembridge, with a different style?

Windstar seems one of the few lines without any bedside power at all. Has this been updated (retrofitted) at all recently?

As an example, one day in a Viking lounge a cruiser I'd not met before said she loved her Nook eReader, but thought only Kindles could download library books. So, I walked her through the process of doing Epubs, rather than buying a separate device.

I should've clarified I meant only a 5W USB by the bed, no AC power at all. 

Would an Old Fashioned be too American for many cruise bartenders?

I, too, watch the videos for the power points, especially what's at bedside (or not). Sadly, a 5W USB is a disappointment. I've yet to see a cabin with a souped-up USB port. 

I'm not interested in shows at all, no thanks. Very interested in the food reviews.

I think that means that once you eat it, the cake is gone. You haven't got some any more.

Is it true the cash is still required in much of Germany, and that in the Netherlands,  only local debit cards are accepted in many places?

Are they adamant about seeing the physical card itself, or is a photo okay at embarkation? 

Part of a holiday staycation week. Walking down the block (Everett, WA), boy-and-dog appeared real, approaching them man-and-girl at the end hit my consciousness.

Having just come back from a Viking river cruise, I just wanted to alert some posters here that those may not be to their liking. The main dining room had no twosomes; I believe the minimum table size was six places?

I feel that way about broccoli - prefer not to have any at the table.

The gist of the comparison was that the Danube trip was fairly leisurely, whereas she found the Rhine one far more "active" in terms of excursions. 

I've found discussing life where I'm from and the other person works well. Previous travel stories are good. One table mate was a theater person. It just works without going into politics or religion. 

I'd find something along the lines of "Our trip retails for $8000, but our travel agent got it down to $6000" cringe worthy. Better would be "The initial price when we first looked into it seemed really steep, but our TA worked some magic to get it down to a level that wasn't bad." 

I'm not one to enjoy chatting at breakfast, but one day on my recent Danube trip a couple gave the difference between our current experience and the one they had a while back on Viking down the Rhine. 

Highly recommend Jewels of the North excursion - the geothermal fields (Sulphur Flats) was the highlight of the trip for us. On our way back to Akureyri from there, we stopped for a photo op at a point where the American and European tectonic plates meet. I thought getting a shot of a solitary cyclist making  his way between them was  a great photo. 

Did a one-week cruise around Iceland in August a couple of years ago with Windstar in a 200 passenger ship. Don't recall ever feeling any sort of rocking or turbulence.

Recently took a Viking River Cruise where the dining room manager made a point of consultations with special needs passengers each morning. One fellow told me that this attention to detail exceeded his expectations.
