  1. All the following with lots of ice and a slimline shweppes or britvic tonic:

Bombay London or Greenhalls Gin, wedge of lime

    Hendricks Gin, slices of cucumber

Harris Gin, slice of pink grapefruit

    Chase Pink Grapefruit Gin, perfect

  2. Never has the saying 'horses for courses' seemed more apt. We LOVE the formal atmosphere, the smart attire, the demographic of almost zero young families and children and mainly older travellers. The staff have been excellent, smiles and conversation if wanted, nothing to find fault with and Cunard is our only choice for cruises.

  3. We are booked on the QM2 next April round trip from Southanmpton.

    Reasons:

I've been to NY before but my other half hasn't so we get to visit there without having to fly.

Two weeks with lovely Cunard service, those fantastic beds and time to do what we want when we want.

Only having to endure the 'going ashore' process once.

    Lots of books to read.

Having been on QE last year and QV this month, this adds the third queen to our list. And it's an ocean liner !!

    Can't wait

  4. Just back off the QV Fjords cruise. We had a 3.30 boarding time, we turned up at 12.45 and were on board by 1.15. Just given a letter when we arrived and they called people up by their letter at an interval of approx 10 minutes. Very efficient.

  5. Can't see an e-mail address for enquiries at all on the website, but I have contacted them before on

    customerservices@cunard.co.uk

Also the following info on the website regarding telephone contact:

Should you need to contact the Customer Contact Centre from outside of the UK, please contact our International Customer Contact Centre on 44 2380 657064, who will be happy to assist you.

Cunard can also be contacted at the US office on 001 800 223 0764 or Hamburg office on 0049 (0) 40 41533 555.

Not sure if they can answer your query.

  6. We are due to sail on the Queen Victoria in May and I have been perusing the sample menus on Cunard's website.

My question is about the Vegetarian menu shown there. It says 24 hour's notice required.

So my OH is veggie and usually just goes with the veggie option on the MDR dinner menu, usually just one main course choice. If he wanted to order from the Vegetarian menu, would he just ask the servers to order his choice for the following evening? thanks

  7. Interesting thread. I never considered a sheltered balcony before but from the photos they are bigger, plus lower floors so less motion and a good view of the sea below instead of the promenade deck.

We've had a deck 7 glass balcony on QE and I have to say I stood up anyway to look out because the glass isn't exactly crystal clear.

We're looking at booking the Transatlantic on QM so I'm thinking whether boring open sea would necessitate the extra payment for a glass balcony- or would I feel too hemmed in and dark. Something to think about.

  8. We were on QE Deck 7, cabin 7148, last cabin aft before the suites.

Lovely and quiet with no vibration or noise from the engines, the only negative was the inside cabin opposite us. The occupants were constantly in and out of the cabin leaving the door to slam shut. Drove me mad when they were getting ready for their night out and chatting with people a couple of cabins down.

I have vowed that I will now only book cabins where there are NO cabin entrances opposite me !!

  9. We've just completed our first cruise on QE- we had cabin 7148, last one aft before the suites on the stern. We loved it. Deck 7 so cabins above and below. The only annoying thing was we had inside cabins opposite so they kept leaving their door to slam when they went in and out, next time will pick a cabin with no cabins opposite. Having said that, mostly lovely and quiet, didn't see many people in the corridors and very quiet at night.

It was two decks up to the buffet so easy to walk up and down, and used the lifts for deck 2 MDR.

  10. Had £400 pending transaction. Hasnt been taken from my account yet but still funds frozen so cant withdraw them. The bank says it has to be debited before they can reverse the payment and e-mail from cunard says the payment was reversed overnight but funds still not available as of today. What a farce

  11. We have just returned from our first cruise, a 4 night cruise on the QE.

We didn't have a clue what we were doing lol. I went to the reception on the night before we docked, and asked to register for the self embarkation. The receptionist logged it on the computer and said all done. I thought we would get the final account to look over but she said as we had logged a credit card on the account, we would get a final bill delivered to the stateroom ready for the morning and the amount would automatically be debited to the credit card. If you are paying with cash etc you will have to settle the bill the night before too.

You then dont have to put your cases out the night before, you take them with you to the Queen's Room on deck 2 ( on the QE), sit and wait then you walk off with your luggage first once docked. We were back in our car by 8am.

Sorry for the longwinded reply lol.
