  1. We were there yesterday. The floating mats were free to use, as were the snorkel masks, kayaks, stand up paddleboards.

We got a few things at the beach restaurant. They had some salads, hamburger, pizza. The hamburger was around $14, pizza $12, kids chicken nuggets around $7.

I too emailed the resort and was told to buy the passes on site, but I further inquired about bookacaribbeantour.com and they told me it was legit so I did that. I shouldn't have worried, I didn't see a single day pass guest there yesterday besides my group (2 ships in port).

  2. We went to the Melia yesterday with a group of 7 including my parents and 2 kids. It was very hot and I just wanted to get there ASAP so we hopped in a taxi van. It cost $40 total. Worked for me!

  3. You can take the bus and the hotel provided directions on how to do so. We had 7 people ranging in age from 7-64 and so we just decided to hop in a taxi/van. It cost $40 each way for our whole group. Plenty of taxis right outside the gates to the port.

There is an outdoor restaurant with some lunch options. A burger was $14, pizza $13, kids chicken nuggets $7, kids sliders $6-7. We told them we were day Pass guests and paid with a credit card no problem.

  4. 1. Yes, $40 for the whole group one way. He met us at the hotel to pick us up and it was $40 to go back to the port as well.

    2. We used bookatourcaribbean.com. The hotel confirmed this was a legit site for booking.

    3. I did not see the daiquiri shack but I wasn't looking. It was a fairly busy area with roundabouts to get into each hotel along the strip.

  5. Just reporting back that we visited the Melia today and had no issue with the passes we bought through bookatourcaribbean. There was hardly anybody there today, so we easily could have purchased passes the day of. I didn't see any other cruise ship guests there today, we were the only ones in the pool most of the time and the beach was gorgeous. Highly recommend!

  6. We just got back from spending the day at the Melia! We loved it. We're on Allure of the Seas and Carnival Liberty was in port today too. We saw another ship come in while we were at the Melia, but it was gone before we got back, so not a super busy day.

There were 7 of us and we took a cab over, $40. We had purchased passes ahead of time and put down a small deposit. We got there at 8:50 and walked right up to the desk, paid our balance, got our wristbands and towel cards and out we went.

The place was deserted, there were maybe 3 people on the beach when we arrived so we got a great shady spot. We asked about snorkel masks and they were just setting those up. They told us that as day visitors we could also use the other equipment free of charge?!? "It is all for you ma'am". So we got to use paddleboards, floating mats, kayaks, life vests and snorkel masks free of charge. All the beach workers were extremely nice and friendly. The kids enjoyed seeing the fish out by the rocks.

We had hoped to hold out and eat once we were back on the ship, but we were hungry so we ate at the outside restaurant. Burger $14, pizza $12, chicken nuggets $7.

Spent some time at the pools in the afternoon. Cool and refreshing, we were literally the only ones in all

of the pools except the pool bar one. We had kids and kept them in the other deserted pools so they didn't bother anyone.

Overall wonderful day and I would highly recommend it !

  7. I ended up hearing from the hotel that bookatourcaribbean was an authorized site and so I went ahead and purchased through them. I had to put down a small down payment, hopefully when I show up in a couple weeks it is accepted! Figured it was worth the risk since I've read of several others doing the same on CC.

  8. I'm seriously considering spending the day at the Melia when we are in Nassau next month on the Allure. I contacted them and they told me that they do not sell day passes in advance. I'm nervous that we'll show up and not be able to purchase passes - not sure what my backup plan would be yet.

However, I see that this site is selling them! What has everyone here done??

  9. I'm been wondering as well. He returned our deposit already for our canceled Oct 15 Allure cruise. I was super impressed that he did that with everything else going on (I would not have asked for it back!) and so I donated to the fundraiser for rebuilding St Martin.

  10. Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I've been anxiously waiting for each new installment!

One quick question - do they usually have all those "kid friendly" options in the WJ every night? The burgers, chicken fingers etc? I see lots of photos and comments about the adult food but I'm trying to get an idea of what my picky child will eat there. Thanks!

  11. Probably a silly question, but since Blue Lagoon was mentioned - can you do Blue Lagoon on your own or is it better to do as an excursion through the cruise line? Is it easy to navigate the necessary cabs and ferry to get there and back? We'll be traveling with two kids ages 10 and 7. Thanks!
