I stay at Four Seasons. Horribly expensive but an awesome hotel right at Circular Quay. Easy walk to ship at Overseas Passenger Terminal and all Sydney attractions.

Boarding Ovation of the Seas on Tuesday and just received an email saying "Australian Maritime Safety Authority will be doing a routine inspection" and to arrive later. Just wondering if anyone knows what this normally means in terms of a boarding delay?
Thanks

Check in normally starts around 10:30am - 11:00am depending how quickly we clear the debarking pax. You can drop your bags off from about 9:00am but , no, do not turn up at 9am for check in, anytime after 11am or whenever it suits you. Ovation normally sails about 6:30pm so the two hours mentioned on the set sail is for scheduled sailing, not boarding.
Come and say hello when you board. What date are sailing?
We (myself and Mum) are on the 29 October sailing to NZ. I've requested assistance since Mum is 81. She's quite active but I don't want her tired out before we even get on board.

Hi everyone.
Looking for your guidance on boarding my upcoming Ovation of the Seas cruise. I've selected the boarding time of 11am and now my set sail pass says "Please arrive no less than 2 hours before your scheduled boarding". Do they really want us turning up at 9am or can we arrive later?
Thanks

I usually stay at Four Seasons in Sydney. Horribly expensive but easy walk to/from ship, The Rocks, Opera House and CBD. I'm able to walk everywhere.

Lyttleton has changed a bit since the earthquake. Its got some lovely cafes and on Saturdays has the best market in the city.

Hello David
Can you please add these. Thanks
29 October 2019 tb4 Ovation of the Seas Sydney - New Zealand - Sydney 12 nights
27 September 2020 tb4 Ovation of the Seas Transpacific Hawaii - Sydney 19 nights
8 April 2021 tb4 Radiance of the Seas Brisbane - New Caledonia – Brisbane 8 nights -
I'd like to see information on how crowded the ship is (or not). Were there queues? Could you get a table at the buffet? How quickly did the theatre fill up?

And they played the love boat tune twice as they departed. You could hear it all over Wellington

Hello again. I fly out tomorrow morning. With Sydney being "just over the ditch" I've visited many times before so 1 night before and after is plenty.
Once again thanks for all the information.

Looks like I got it backwards. 3 days to get there, 4 days there (at the GBR), and 4 days to recover. But the key thing is 4 days at the GBR.
I noticed that there is a 10 night GBR cruise later this Oct. The two day reduction comes at the expense of the GBR ports. The second day at Cairns is dropped and Port Douglas is eliminated. I would hate to have missed those ports!
So true. I was booked on the later cruise and moved to March for the extra days.
Thanks again for the review, it's been awesome.

You made me laugh. Perhaps if kangaroos could swim, I would have seen one in the wild! Come to think of it, if those guys really could swim, I think we would see them everywhere across the world!
Nice pictures, by the way!
We have wild wallabies here in New Zealand. Introduced many years ago, no swimming involved!

Ovation of the Seas in Wellington, New Zealand today:
The ship appeared regularly in the background of the tv coverage of the NZ vs England ODI at Westpac yesterday. A wonderful sight as it towered over the stadium.

We are cruising the east coast of Australia. Sydney to the Great Barrier Reef and back. Mostly people from US on roll call, some lucky ones doing b2b or even b2b2b.
