  1. We are heading to Tahiti Tuesday and will spend 2 nights in Papeete before heading our on our 11 night Windstar Tuamotu and Society Islands cruise. We have been checking the weather and the highs during the day are mid 80s and at night the high 70s. I talked to a friend today who was in Tahiti last year and he commented that it would be cool this time of year. We are all packed and I have prepared for warm weather...one cardigan and light rain jacket but otherwise planning for warm, tropical weather. Will I be unprepared for the weather?

  3. Thanks for that info. I am pretty confident now that our tour with Bruno at Raiatea will be on the 12 passenger boat. He said specifically if just the Windstar ship is in port that will be the case. I am thinking of adding the drift snorkel through the ship on our day in Tahaa as it sounds like you cannot get enough of that. Then afterwards they drop you off at the motu where the picnic lunch will be served. Anyone thinking of doing that morning snorkel through the ship at Tahaa?

  4. To add a bit about Bruno's tour... We will be in Raiatea on the Wind Spirit July 7, 2018. I booked Bruno's excursion months ago based on the reviews. In the past few days I have been reading some of these negative reviews about a larger boat. I emailed Bruno yesterday about my concerns. They replied right away and said that on that date they plan to use the 12 passenger boat as advertised. I hope that's the case. I really think if he needs to occasionally use a bigger boat that he should add that info to the website or inform clients ahead of time.

  5. Hi Dandee. I posted a question to you on another roll call thread just now before I saw this. I have read many of your posts about the Heiva i Tahiti in Tahiti. We will be on the Windstar sailing July 1 -12. After the cruise we will go to Bora Bora July 12 -15, but we will be back in Papeete for 2 nights July 15 & 16. We will be staying in Papeete and would love to go to one or two of these performances. I looked at the links you provided and I do not see any information on buying tickets. Maybe it's too early? Could you please let me know how you bought your advance tickets? I speak just a very little French so I am having trouble understanding the websites. I do not see a calendar of events, prices, or how to buy. Any advice is welcome! Thanks. Kathi

  6. We will be in George Town on a cruise ship Tuesday, Feb. 13. We are going scuba diving (booked privately) at 8:30 and will likely be done around 12:30. Our ship leaves at 3:30. We would like to fill the time between 12:30 - 2:30 at a beach restaurant not too far from the port. Not sure where our ship, RCCL Rhapsody of the Seas, will be tendered. We want to enjoy every minute of Grand Cayman and not just return to the ship after diving. We are not interested in shopping. Just a nice beach with some food and drink. We would like to be either walking distance or a short taxi ride from the ship's dock. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  7. We will be in Cozumel in Feb. on a cruise. We will be diving with Tres Pelicanos. My husband and I were on Cozumel for 10 days on October and we dove with Tres Pelicanos two different days. We did 2 tank morning dives. Our bottom time was 45-50 minutes each time. Depending on the dive spot we were at 40 - 90 ft. We had a great time with this very small operator. One time it was just my husband and I and the other day just one other person. The great thing about Tres Pelicanos for our cruise is that we get into port at 10:30am and many dive shops I contacted could not accommodate us. Tres Pelicanos will be doing a 1:30 afternoon 2 tank dive with us. We will take a taxi to their shop by 1:00 and be on the boat by 1:30. Our ship sails at 7:30pm so we have plenty of time. They are very good about working with your schedule. Also their prices are fantastic. $75 for the 2 tank dive, with an extra $19 if you need to rent all the equipment. Less than $100 for a 2 tank dive is fantastic. Just email them at dive@trespelicanos.com.

  8. Thank you all. As for internet, I don't plan to stream any movies or TV, I just want to be able to email and possibly post some photos for my family and friends on Facebook. I am thinking I really do not need internet everyday and can probably get away with buying it every couple days for a total of maybe 3-4 days. As for drinks I think with specialty coffee, a couple drinks by the pool or before dinner and wine with dinner it might make sense. I am assuming we can buy internet on a daily or hourly basis? Thanks.

  9. We are sailing on the Rhapsody on Feb 11 - 18, Western Caribbean. I am looking at the cruise planner and the internet for one device is $15.99 per day. The Deluxe Beverage Package with the one device internet is $55 a day. They are saying this is 25% off the onboard price. Does that seem like a good deal? I have never purchased a drink package before but am considering it this trip since it will be warm, tropical, and my sister and I will be traveling together and will enjoy our drinks by the pool and wine at dinner. Just not sure if I should just get the internet for $15.99 and pay for the drinks as we go. Any advice is welcome!

  10. My sister and I will be on RCCL Rhapsody and will stop at Grand Cayman on Tuesday, Feb. 13. We are looking for a very good scuba operator. I have just spent 10 days on Cozumel diving. My sister hasn't been diving in couple years and is going to take a refresher course before the cruise. We are both in our 60s but are fit and adventures. We may want to hire a private DM. We do not want to do shore dives and prefer a smaller operator with fewer people on the boat. I have previously been told about Cayman Marine Lab but am looking for more recs. I will be contacting them very soon to set up our day of diving. Thanks!

  11. Thank you all. I am the original poster and it has been many months since I have looked at this thread. Our cruise on the Rhapsody is now just over a month away. In October we spent 10 days on Cozumel and dove with Tres Pelicanos and will dive with them again while on our cruise. Aldora could not accommodate us as we don't get in until 10:00am. Still looking for recommendations for Grand Cayman since we want to dive there. Thanks!

  12. We are on the July 1, 2018 sailing that includes the Tuamotu Islands as well as Bora Bora, Moorea, etc. We have two days in Bora Bora. I am curious about the overnight stay in Bora Bora and the beach day/evening BBQ that happens while at Bora Bora. The first day we get in around 8:00am and we leave the second day around 3:00pm. So I am wondering which day would be the beach BBQ event? Trying to book some excursions and knowing the schedule for those two days would be helpful. Anyone?

  14. Yes, I will add that our B&B, Fare Suisse, is only $85 per night (breakfast is $10 extra) for a double room with AC and private bathroom. The owner picks you up at the airport for free and then will take you to the ferry or the cruise ship dock in the morning for free. All correspondence has been fast and easy. They are within walking distance to many things. You can google them or look on Trip Advisor on the Tahiti forum under Tahiti B&Bs.

  15. Yes, we are thrilled to have snagged frequent flyer seats. I was very diligent and called everyday for a few days before the dates I thought were the right booking dates (330 days prior to travel). I think if I had waited a week or two we would have lost out as Air Tahiti Nui only releases a few free seats.
