  1. That's so soon, I'm so jealous! So special that you're getting engaged and married on cruises [emoji180] [emoji180] . My birthday is in April and we do the 3 day cruise almost every year for it. You're going to have BEAUTIFUL weather!

In your experience do you think it will be windy in April? I'm wondering and worrying about sea hair and if I'll need some kind of wrap for my shoulders.

Are you planning to wear your dress all day around the ship or change after the reception? [emoji141]

How goes your planning? Hope you're doing well!

  2. Thank you for the help and the tips on steaming, so helpful! I'll head to Macy's today to grab the steamer before the sale ends and I'll practice on a few dresses at home before I leave on my cruise so I get the technique down.

It's great to hear that a professional planner chose a cruise wedding for your own event. I'd love to hear about any personal details you're planning, if you feel like sharing...

  3. I will be getting married on embrocation day, we board at 10:30 am with the wedding at 1pm. The dress I chose is an organza ballgown that holds wrinkles (what was I thinking!) and I am driving 4 hours to get to the port the day before we cruise so I am sure my dress bag will be shoved amongst our other bags and my dress is sure to wrinkle. I thought about a travel steamer but the thought of something going wrong really scares me.

Guess I'll invest in a portable travel steamer and hope it all works out!!

  4. Is your vow renewal on embarkation day? If so, you should be able to board early and/or have access to your cabin.

My wedding was on our 2nd day, so I wasn't able to board early or anything. Cabins weren't ready until 1pm, but my steward allowed me to stow my stuff there, so I didn't have to lug it around.

Did you have to press your wedding dress due to travel wrinkles? I'm so worried because the material of my dress is prone to getting very wrinkled but I can't think of a way to keep it safe and don't want to iron it myself and possibly mess it up.

    Anyone have any advice?

  5. I'm not sure what the floral upgrades through the ship cost, so I'm not sure if I'm even saving anything by going with silk. The big thing for me was that I didn't want to pay for flowers and have everyone have to leave them on board. It's such a short cruise they would probably still be alive and pretty but they'd get tossed in the trash because they aren't allowed off the ship [emoji22]

If you go on etsy you can find some really expensive silk arrangements, but you can also find some really affordable ones. I have $400 budgeted and am working with a seller. I think I'm going to be right at my budget and will have a total of 5 bouquets, 7 boutonnieres, and 2 mothers corsages.

Silk looks just as pretty as real flowers, imo. I think I'll go flower shopping this weekend and play around with designs to see if I can pull off making corsages and boutonnieres myself.

I agree that paying so much for flowers and leaving them behind just feels wrong. However, I guess if I toss the bouquet I wouldn't leave with the flowers regardless.

  6. Hi ladies! I'm new to this site and it looks awesome! I am getting married on the Carnival Ecstasy out of Charleston April 8, 2017. We'll have 50 guests and about 35 will sail with us on our 7 day cruise. Super excited! My question is are you wearing a traditional wedding dress or something more simple? I bought a dress a few days ago but can't stop thinking about a different one that I tried on. It is absolutely beautiful and my dream dress.. I'm just not sure if it's too "big" to enjoy on a ship? Any thought, opinions, experience, or pictures are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks y'all!

I'm getting married one day before you, different ships though. My dress is huge and I'm very worried about getting around the ship.

Did you decide yet what you will do for your dress? How is your planning going?

Mine is 478 to be exact. [emoji267]

I'm not far in front of you. [emoji85]

  7. I did my save the date via email and made our invites myself. I am really proud of them because I saved a ton of my budget by recreating a Pinterest design and printing them myself. They are very simple but I love them. Ended up costing about $65 total, including postage. Sometimes it works out but I'm not so sure I'm up for flowers.

And I agree, it is so frustrating getting returned invites! I got 3 back, all addresses provided by the groom btw, and I had to remail them. Ugh

  8. We are getting married September 2017. So just starting out pretty much! We've signed the contract and reserved the DJ. But that is pretty much all that we have done through Carnival.

Outside of Carnival's planning we have sent out Save the Dates to our guest list so they can start planning travel their vacation with us and are beginning to ask our bridal party to be a part of our big day. We've picked color/theme and invitations, and have started picking what we want to do for wedding favors.

I have decided not to go with Carnival's florist. I can't see spending a bunch of money on bouquets that will have to be left behind on board a few days after the wedding so I'm opting for silk/paper/sola wood bouquets and have started working with someone who will make the bouquets.

I feel like I'm doing things backwards quite a bit, but I want to get things done in advance so that when everything is crazy a few months before the wedding I don't get overwhelmed. I can't imagine trying to make sure I've got all the guest information I need (booking/room numbers, ID information for guests not sailing, etc.) while trying to pick flowers/favors and enjoy any of it.

Do you mind if I ask about your budget for flowers? We are going to be on the same ship and I'm trying to decide if I should buy silk flowers or skip them all together.

How much are silk flowers saving you? I found that silk are also quite expensive.

  9. If you are on Facebook add me Lori Snelling and look at my wedding pictures. We brought the flowers for the wedding party and everything else was the basic package. My daughter did bring flowers to make my bouquet prettier but that was it.

I looked at your pictures before. [emoji5] They are lovely. But are we on Inspiration, is that the same ship you married on?

  10. We're getting married in September of 2017. I know 5 hours is a long drive, but I would try to make it work. I have been on the Inspiration I think 5 or 7 time, my fiance has been on 4 times (2 with me, 2 without). It was COMPLETELY different to see it in this perspective.

I booked the DJ so I assume my reception will be in the night club. What colors in that room? What did the ceremony options look like?

I'm going to try to talk my way into a touring weekend but we'll see.

  11. Thank you for your response! We did a "site inspection" last Friday. Basically up to 4 people can go on the ship when there is a wedding, you board with the wedding party so you get to experience that, and you take a tour of the ship. We got to see the different lounges and I must say, the night club actually wound up being our preferred reception area! I hadn't been since before the renovations and upgrades. It's A LOT nicer now.

Are you getting married on the Inspiration? If so I can send you some pictures from the tour next week or maybe try to find out how to post them here. If you live near the port you want to sail out of I definitely recommend doing the tour! It made us 100x more excited than we already were and it was so different seeing everything in person and set up for a wedding. You can do it once for free. You can do it a second time for $50, but you can only do it twice. We're going to do the tour once more, closer to the wedding, with our MOH and BM so they will be prepared for how the day will run and what to expect. Added bonus: we were done touring around 12 and didn't have to be off the ship until 3! So we got to hang out, have a drink at the bar (visitors can use their credit cards to purchase drinks, which was also nice to know so our guests can grab a drink when they first board as well).

I am going on the inspiration in April 2017. I'm about 5 hours away from port so I won't be able to tour but I would love to see pictures.

I kept thinking how easy this wedding was going to be to plan and now I keep thinking of more things I need to do.

Congrats on your big day! When are you sailing?

  12. Hey, I am getting married on the Imagination october 9th i will let you know how it goes. We have the DJ booked but was told we can do it in a different room but i cant recall the name of the room right now. I have all that written down somewhere haha. We have 122 guests so we hope it turns out okay. 17 days away.. wish us luck... if you live in the area i would suggest scheduling a tour of the ship and pick out where you want the ceremony and reception, take lots of pictures!

I would love some photos, if you don't mind, my email is: jennifer@yavnehdayschool.org

  13. Hello Brides! My fiancé and I are getting married on the Carnival Inspiration next year and I am super excited, but I would love to get a little more information!

Has anyone been married on the Inspiration or her sister ship the Imagination? Can you tell me where the ceremony was? We booked the DJ so my understanding is that the reception will be in the dance club. Not my first pick, but we definitely wanted a DJ.

Also, since you have to board with your hair and makeup done, were you able to keep yourself separated from your groom? I'm not sure I will be able to keep him from seeing me... another option is to give in and get all the way ready before boarding and do first look pictures. Any good spots in the area?

Any pictures or experiences from weddings on these ships would be greatly appreciated!!

I've spoken to a friend who did a cruise wedding and she said to keep from seeing her groom she planned on arriving a bit early and went straight to the VIP lounge. Her groom was told to come in 5 minutes after, once she was settled and he went aboard first while she waited. It was not an issue at all and the staff was very helpful, even peeked around the corner to see it was "all clear" for her to board.
