Walking 1.5 miles each way sounds fine, but from first hand experience I can tell you that it's not so fine on a wet, windy day.  Perhaps you can find another couple on your roll call who would be willing to share a cab with you?

I recommend that you price a rental car ..... gives you the ability to see and do so much more.  ie an easy ride out to the coast to see the Shrine of St Therese, Eagle Beach, and the ability to say you drove to the End of the Road.

We are planning to hire a car in  Juneau in August and would appreciate any recommendations for a hire car company.

  2. Hope I'm not too late for this reply but just browsing and saw the topic.  Eden is a small town but it does have a fantastic Museum called the Eden Killer Whale Museum which is well worth a visit.  There is a lovely swimming beach too but might be a good idea to get a taxi to take you around to some of the main attractions.  There is the Ben Boyd Tower out of town and lovely drives but most would need to be done by car.  The Sea Horse Inn has lovely meals and great views.  Hope this helps.

  3. We did a Baltic Cruise last June and did a 2 day tour with Alla Tours. I would recommend them as they were very professional and small group. We booked the 2 day tour direct with Alla on the internet and it was very easy to do. The 2 days were very full days but there is a lot to see and we certainly saw everything we wanted and our guide was so helpful and really knew the history. It was a fantastic 2 days and lunch was provided as a boxed lunch on one day and the 2nd day we had a lovely restaurant lunch and afterwards we were taken to a recommended Souvenir outlet which they guaranteed for genuine amber jewellery. I agree with others that the non-cruise tours are better value and no problem with getting back to the ship as their business depends on reliability.
