  1. My husband agrees with you completely about the camaraderie at a bar vs table...but now he'll have race you to stake out stools even earlier!!!

I can see us getting our bar stools sorted earlier and earlier and probably finding ourselves up there shortly after lunch time! After that we'll probably be in no fit state to make it to dinner!

I see that quite recently HAL ships have started offering 2 for1 cocktail hours in various bars throughout their ships. By all accounts it has been a great success (for the passengers anyway). Wouldn't it be a real treat if Cunard followed their Carnival cousins at HAL?

  2. Thanks for the info on the Commodore Club.

One question, is there a bar there where you can sit on stools round the bar and be served by the barman rather than a waiter? I like to sit at a bar on a ship and be able to talk to the barman and any other pax sitting round the bar.[/quote

Yes there is but not too many.

Thanks for that....oh dear so will have to get up there early!!

  3. I think these may be the cabins that you are referring to on sports decks behind the Crows Nest...their are 10 of them.

We are booked on the 28 day TA cruise on the 25th April 2009 in an SS cabin and really look forward to hearing reviews from the 1st passengers that will sail this year on the Eurodam.

Yes...well done that's them. We are on the same cruise but have decided against those particular cabins.

  4. They are advertised as Veranda Stateroom so they have to have some form of balcony, otherwise wouldn't they have to be listed as Oceanview?

Yes but look at the layout of these cabins in the deck plan and compare them to the other veranda cabins further below. On the below cabins the veranda is clearly shown but with the VT category little can be seen. Interesting!! Anyway I have now just booked a VF cabin in preference to the VT selection and they are the same price. My wife in particular was concerned at being so far forward and so high as we are taking the April transatlantic crossing.

  5. I'm sure that the premium your paying for is the view although I'm not so sure I would want have my cabin up so high !!

Yes you are right....it's a bit high in the air and would swing quite nicely in a less than favourable sea state. The layout also suggests a very small balcony so yes I agree it's going to be the VF for us.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

  6. I see on the Eurodam deck plan that on the Observation Deck at the top of the ship, there are some VT category Verandah cabins. They show virtually no balcony at all. They are priced the same as the VF verandah cabins on the veranda deck. I am in a quandary as to which category to book. Does anyone have a view on this matter?
