Have there been any new announcements on a sale next week besides John Healds Facebook page? Where can you purchase Carnival GC?
-
There are several restaurants downtown within walking distance of port.
Are you looking for breakfast or lunch?
Breakfast for embarkation day.
-
Thank you. I'll look into something closer to port then.

Does anyone know if Mosquito Grill is within walking distance to the Carnival port?
-
We try to have big breakfast the morning of that first day, since we routinely do the steakhouse that first evening. Of course, 2 DoD's on a somewhat empty stomach is never a good thing!
Do you have any breakfast recommendations for Galveston TX?

I leave for my cruise on Saturday. Will let you know when I get back
Thank you and I hope you have a fantastic time!

Has anyone had any troubles going from tender to the meetup spot with Acquarius tours? I have them booked this winter. All the reviews have been good and I like that the tours are much smaller than what is offered via the cruise line.
-
I'm taking the stingray tour with Acquarius and the description states the tour is only 3.5 hours long. Once they drop us back off at the port is there anything to see within walking distance? I would like to visit a beach or do some shopping.
What was your experience like with Acquarius tours?

Great review and very informative.
Do you think you could have had time to shop or eat in GC after this excursion?

It sounds like Carnival is trying to improve the app experience. Hopefully some of these suggestions get back to them. Room service and live deck plans would be amazing. The "you are here" on the deck plan would help so much. Along with a little indicator of you room location so you know your heading in the right direction.

My last five day cruise it was the second night.

Did anyone have delayed response from the app. Specifically the chat features?
-
Has anyone tried requesting veggie rolls at Bonsai Sushi? They don't list any vegetarian options on their menu but my husband really wants to go. I don't to just sit there and not eat.

I'm loving all these ideas for making an embarkation day tradition.
Last cruise I took the ship was delayed 3 hours docking due to weather so things were crazy. It did mean they tried to be quick with bag searches and everyone had access to their rooms on arrival.
Fingers crossed we can implement a boarding drink and BBQ lunch on the Breeze in January.

I live about 3 hours north of Galveston and it's currently cold and rainy. :/ Hoping it warms up as we head south!
The weather will be in the 80's by Sunday in Galveston.

We sail Thursday on the Valor from Galveston. I've never cruised in November. I've checked the weather in Cozumel, but any ideas on where I can find weather forecasts for our sea days? Hoping for warm and sunny! :D
When you get back please share! I'm looking at booking a cruise for next November from Galveston, TX. Happy travels and smooth seas.

Basically, I'll agree with you however,,, to answer a possibly WHY??/ Maybe Baptist grandma wants professional pics of little Grandson and/or Granddaughter all dressed up for elegant night. Cruise Photo gift is her way to ensure Mom and Dad don't drink that gift money.
This response has made me laugh so hard. :'):') touche klfrodo

The MDR and Lido are open for breakfast. I have never seen anyone in the pools that day. We just simply don't like to be rushed. We typically have a late afternoon flight, or we are flying out the next day. The only time we wanted to try to get off early was when we were driving home.
On our last cruise from NOLA, it seemed that everyone was trying to self-disembark and we literally waited for an hour to get an elevator to go down one floor to the Lido deck (DH uses a scooter, so we couldn't walk the stairs). After we had breakfast and waited an hour or so, there were absolutely no lines to get off the ship. It was smooth sailing (pun not intentional).
Thank you for your insight. We missed breakfast on our last cruise that final morning because we thought they didn't offer it. We will be sure to stay for our final meal. :D

This is a lively thread. I hope to try tea time on my next cruise. I missed it on the last one.

If you have special dietary requirements/requests I would recommend an assigned dinner time. On my last cruise we did anytime dinning and had a different server each night. I had to say I was vegetarian and ask about ingredients in most items on the menu every day. If you have an assigned time and the same waiter they are usually good about remembering your needs and know to point out what you can eat when you sit down.
The Indian vegetarian dishes are good but they repeat the dish every few days.
Thank you for the Guys Burger info. I'll get that on my next cruise.

Are the restaurants and pools open on disembarkation day? What are the benefits of staying on the ship till last call, besides not waiting in long lines?

I hope people that see this realize the first few pages are from 2015 and 2016 we are now in the ending months of 2017
That is true. I just updated this with the current prices and in the post listed the date I pulled it from Carnivals website. But I do see that I put 2018 not 2017 and I now it won't let me edit it.
Sorry everyone. The correct date for my previous post is from Carnival's website as off November 6th, 2017.

I would try Acquarius Sea Tours.
You make a reservation online but pay when you arrive. They are rated #1 on TripAdvisor and seem to be highly suggested here on CruiseCritic. They assign you a time they can guarantee to get you back for your ships departure. They also keep their tours small (30 people or less).

We have them booked for a 3 stop tour in January (Stingray City, Starfish Point and a snorkel spot). It includes transportation from our port and back. $50/person is a good price as Carnival is charging $100/person for a similar tour.
