So unfair to exclude paying passengers from an area so that others can utilise it for private use. Absolutely rediculous.

They use this area for wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and I believe basically any other private function that is requested. It isn't just Princess that does it, basically every cruise I have done at some point a bar or lounge will be closed for a private function. In the whole time we were up there, there were not very many people at all wishing to use either the Hollywood Conservatory or the Hollywood Pool area (which was not blocked off).

  2. I got off the Majestic Princess yesterday. I had organised a CruiseCritic Meet & Greet on this voyage, in which we were designated the Hollywood Conservatory. Our group of about 30 people, had private access to the area for about an hour and a half, in which the rest of the passengers on board were restricted from coming into the area. If anyone else ever organises a M&G on the Majestic, I highly recommend that you request for the Hollywood Conservatory, however, I am unsure if it is only reserved for larger groups.

  4. G`day Bwanna and I are going on an 8 day cruise in 4 days and I have many questions that I am hoping veteran cruisers might help with.

    Da ship is The Pacific Jewel.destination Noumea and back {I hope}

1,how do you put cash onto your cruisey card and how do I get it back.,If I put in cash will I get cash back or put into an account.

2,regarding sea sickness not knowing whether we will get it or not,is it ok to take a pill each day just in case?

3,I opted to get a drink package but not sure what it gives you.Do they have coke or pepsi.

4,we have a wifi package that gives 250mb is that a day or all up,because it dosnt seem much at all.

5,tvs in room can you attach a media player to a usb port or are they impossible to reach would brfingintg dvds be better.

6,apparently the library on the Jewel is on a hospital trolley,is this true?

    Thanks guys

    Hi,

I have been on the Pacific Jewel twice this year, so I have a rough idea of the answers to your questions.

    1. When I went to load cash onto my card, I was advised that you must now use the P&O digital onboard atm/computer system yourself, where you can choose the amount that you wish to apply to your account.

    2. I would suggest using the sea sickness bands if you are unsure if you will be affected.

    3. They have both Pepsi and Coca Cola, in which they pour you a glass from a can if you have a drinks package. They have stopped using post-mix.

    4. I am unsure about the WiFi packages.

    5. The TV's from my experience don't usually have a built in DVD player and depending on your room, the back of the set may be difficult to access.

    6. I cannot comment on the library.

If you have any questions, please contact me :)

    Thanks,

  5. My wife and I are aboard the Royal Princess, Barcelona to Rome. We've been cruising Princess for 10 years and we've been collecting the commemorative Princess passport stickers for each cruise.

They usually had one sticker in your room upon check-in and you could get extras at the Captain's Circle Desk.

We were told that the stickers have been discontinued. Any given Captain's Circle Desk may have extras, but they won't be getting more.

This is such a small thing, but it's sad. We look at the passport book every time we plan a new cruise.

Maybe a lot of people didn't use the stickers so they were wasted. But I hope they bring them back on an as-requested basis, or even for sale in the store for a few bucks.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

That's disappointing, I am Elite with Princess and have many of the passport stickers and enjoy collecting them as they bring memories back from the cruises.

  6. Hi Everyone!

I have just started a Cruise blog that I will post informative and exciting information about the Cruises that I have been on and will travel on, ports that I have visited and different types of news relating to the cruise industry such as new ships and programs or tips and tricks for first time cruisers.

As I am only new to blogging, I do have one question that I would like to ask, how do you grow an audience? If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. If you also have any ideas of anything that I could change on my website to make it more appealing and efficient, please send me a friend request on Cruise Critic and I would love to have a conversation with you.

Since I am planning on producing a fun and informative community with my blog, that is safe for people of all ages, I would like to ask if anyone would like to become a volunteer author with me? Posts would not need to be daily or even weekly and I would love to have people contribute their perspective on information relating to different topics. If you would like to become an author on my website, please send me a friend request on Cruise Critic and we can discuss my blog more in depth.

The link to my blog is: https://cruiserguy135.wixsite.com/cruiseguy135blog

    Keep on cruising,

  7. Yes I've been on her 5 times since Feb 2015. After my first cruise they installed the Pantry before the next time I sailed so she must have had some sort of refit mid 2015.

I agree she is looking very tired with mismatched curtains and various colours of carpet in different cabins. As for the Atrium - the chairs there have different seat coverings to the backs and it looks like a demolition yard. Such a pity, they seem to be doing running repairs on her as they go.

The theatre was being renovated on my New Years trip with extra rows of seats clogging up the area. It looked like they had expanded the stage but had nowhere to put the seats they removed.

I wonder when she is due for a make over? She is scheduled to home port Melbourne again during the 2018-2019 season so looks like she will be around a little while. On July 8th it will be 27 years since her maiden voyage so she is no spring chicken.

I do like her with a feeling of spaciousness and logically laid out. :)

I definitely agree with you, since she was constructed for Princess Cruises, her layout and base design is very comfortable and spaceious. If only they gave her a big makeover like they did with the Pacific Dawn recently.

  8. I have contacted P&O Australia directly to enquire about the cocktail of the day and this is the exact response that I received "I'm afraid we're unable to confirm if there's still the daily cocktail special, as it's usually advised onboard. And, currently we don't have a promo that has that type of offer". I hope that this has helped somewhat, I will continue to try to find an answer for this but I personally don't think that they offer it anymore.

  9. Hi all, Just booking for 3 August 2017 and wondering who the current C.D. will be. Any help appreciated. Also seeking help in making contact with that C.D. ahead of time if anyone knows a way (social media?) since we like to offer to give dance lessons. Thanks very much!

    Hi,

I have been on the Pacific Jewel twice in the last two months, one of which I only got off a few days ago and I can confirm that the current cruise director is Sandy.

  10. Anyone??????

I have been on the Pacific Jewel twice in the past two months and I have not noticed a cocktail of the day in the daily cruise guide or advertised at any bars. I may be mistaken, but please inform the thread if you discover a definite answer.

I will contact P&O Australia later and ask for you as well, but I don't know if they would have that information until you get onboard.

  11. Hi, everyone!

Has anyone else noticed how tired the Pacific Jewel has started feeling in recent years? I have sailed on the Pacific Jewel five times in total since 2010 and have noticed that carpet has become very discolored and has a terrible odour; there are dings and marks along walls and posts; timber is lacking varnish; cutlery, mugs/cups and dinnerware is scratched and badly stained; and elevators are extremely unreliable in often being faulty.

The Pacific Dawn has recently experienced an extensive renovation and the Pacific Explorer is soon to join the fleet, so that leaves me wondering if perhaps the Pacific Jewel is going to be leaving P&O Australia sometime in the near future.

Despite these faults, I have thoroughly enjoyed my trips on the Pacific Jewel and always try to make the most of all my cruises.

I look forward to reading any replies of your opinion of the standard and feeling of the Pacific Jewel! :)

  12. There is no cheese trolley service available in the main dining room on Princess Cruises that I am aware of. I often indulge on having the cheese plate with or instead of a dessert at meal times or later at night in the buffet.
