  1. Hi Scrapnana, thank you for your trip report - I am really enjoying traveling along with you! About the flying fish, in early 2020 we were on a cruise around Australia. We were told there were flying fish but I couldn't see any. Eventually I did - they were quite small and close to the ship. They were dark coloured and didn't show up very distinctly against the water. It wasn't until I focussed that I could see them. There were hundreds!! Good luck seeing all kinds of sea life!

  2. I would never skip Perth! It's a beautiful part of the country. we boarded the Voyager of the Seas and went from Sydney to Hobart to Auckland, Tauranga (Great place). then around north and south islands New Zealand, up to Hobart in Tasmania, Adelaide, and finishing in Perth. We rented a car and drove about 1000 kms north to Monkey Mia with a stop on the way in Geraldtown. We had an outback experience and in Denham where we stayed we found an apartment right across from the Indian ocean with a nice beach. Emus were walking down the street. In monkey Mia we did a catamaran ocean safari and saw incredible wildlife including a dugong, water snakes, sharks, mantra rays. It was spectacular! We flew from Perth to Alice springs and did a tour to uluhru. A train trip on the Ghan from Alice to Adelaide finished our trip. It was a magnificent cruise and after was great as well.

  3. We have stayed many times at the Premier Inn on Bath Rd. You should be able to take a Hoppa shuttle for about six pounds each. The hotel is very reasonably priced, clean, and has a Costa coffee shop in the building. They offer a package deal that gets you dinner and breakfast for about 22 pounds each person. The hotel is clean, has a nice big tub, double glazed windows so it's quiet. The tube into London is at the airport and takes about 45 minutes to central.

  4. I know that these "thingies" have a name but I don't remember it! I heard years ago that they were invented by the guys building the Panama Canal so that they could build some stable break waters.

When we were in South Africa they claimed that one of their people invented them and they called them neckbones! Whoever invented them, they are a great thing
