  1. Hey everyone,

Looking to book Majestic Princess in december, my TA offered cabin M704 which happens to be on deck 15 underneath the Lido deck. I was once told to avoid these cabins due to the possibility of noise on the upper deck, would this be an issue on the Majestic? We had a horrible experience on RCL's FOS last year due to excessive noise (on deck 2) and I wouldn't want to repeat it!

    Thanks

  2. Hello all,

I'm considering both the Ruby Princess on december 5th to New Caledonia/Vanuatu and the Majestic Princess to Melbourne/Tasmania on december 7th for my girlfriend's 30th. I'd like to know the pros and cons of both itineraries and ships. Both routings look absolutely beautiful and I'm torn between the two. We have never sailed with Princess and will be travelling with two kids age 4 and 5. I'm looking at a balcony cabin or maybe a mini suite.

    Thanks!

  3. It's all a matter of personal preference but as far as I'm concerned next time it will be a no. We've done 2 cruises with RCL and purchased the package both times. On Freedom last september a 42$ package set us back 915$ CAD for 7 days after tips and exchange rate.

We can drink quite heavily while on vacation but after a few beers and overly sweet cocktails we felt like we didn't get our money's worth. We also like to have a some wine for dinner but what's included in the package is sub par and didn't feel like paying extra for a decent glass of wine.

In the future we will bring our own 2 bottles and purchase any extra wine by the glass.

  4. A colleague will be on a 5 day sailing aboard Liberty in a few weeks, she was told by RCCL that she won't be able to buy the Deluxe alcohol package aboard after the first day of sailing, is this something new? I was on FOS in september and if I remember correctly we were allowed to purchase the package at any time during the cruise.

    Thanks

  5. We went to Giovanni's and had a table outside in central park, it was amazing. We tried babysitting (1 & 2 years old at the time) and that only worked for an hour or so, we had the kids with us in their strollers for the remainder of the meal, we will be going back for sure next time we're on an Oasis class ship

  6.

As you know by now we don’t want to make friends. We aren’t rude or mean to people. We will chit chat for a few minutes but for the most part we like to enjoy our trips just the two of us. We like recounting our day. Talking about our favorite parts. Talking about the night and tomorrow. This is why we always ask for a two top.

I feel your pain, I'm a bit more social with strangers than my gf but what you said describes us quite well. We got stuck with another couple at a table for 4 on Carnival last year, it was totally awkward, there were these eerie moments of silence and other times when we felt like we forced to try and find things to talk about.. uuugggghhh. I actually went in to the MDR every night and felt like leaving right away.

We will be sailing with both our kids in 2 weeks and they usually give us our own table, thank god

Thanks for writing such an awesome review, that beef tenderloin looks like it was cooked to perfection!

  7. I’ve always flown standby before a cruise except once where I went confirmed on AA because tickets were cheap. Never had a problem. We usually fly out 2 days before the cruise, one time we flew in day of.

Always have a backup plan, can you buy ZEDs with other airlines if needed? At my airline getting to Europe in the summer can be difficult, sometimes you have to be creative.

  8. We have never been charged. Mind you, we do Traditional Dining so it could be since we have the same waiters every night, that may have something to do with it. We always open the bottle in our cabin. Last year on Oasis after opening, we put the cork in too tight and it broke when we tried to pull it. One of the Head Waiters saw us struggling, stopped and corked it for us. I assumed I'd be charged, but wasn't. So, here's my suggestion. If you only want one glass for dinner, take a glass instead of bottle as suggested. But to be honest, if you bring on a bottle, and pay $15 corkage fee, it's still WAY cheaper than buying a bottle on board. So if you want a bottle of wine, open it yourself, drink it at your leisure, and if they hit you with the corkage fee, pay it gracefully. Don't complain about the waiters doing their job and enforcing the KNOWN rules of the cruise line.

You can be sure that I’m not going to complain if I get charged in the MDR. Rules are rules, we might not like them but that’s that. I was fully aware of it when I booked. Now lets hope we don’t get charged ;p

  9. We will be bringing our own wine aboard Freedom at the end of september, the corkage fee is apparently a hefty 25$ in the main dining room. Does the wait staff sometimes “forget” to charge the fee? We never got charged on Carnival back in the day but it was only 10$ extra so still worth taking a chance.

If they’re gonna be charging us 25$ I guess we’ll just drink it in the room

  10. Just booked Freedom of the seas for september 29th, it will be our first time cruising out of San Juan and I'm a little worried that the flights might fill up upon our return, has anyone had luck flying standby out of San Juan after a cruise? We won't be in any rush to leave the island but we'd like to leave the same day.

    Thanks

  11. Did my first 3 cruises with Carnival which were quite pleasant, tried Oasis of the Seas in december 2016, that was out first cruise with kids and we were amazed, there was so much to do and the crew took such good care of them.

We went back to Carnival for a 5 day cruise on the Victory which turned out to be a total disaster, food was awful, service was average at best. We are booked on Freedom of the Seas in september. We will be trying a Disney cruise as the kids get older but for now we are pretty much hooked on RCCL. Looking forward to sailing on other Oasis class ships.

  12. Hello,

We'll be cruising for the first time on Oasis next week, I want to surprise my girlfriend with a bottle of Moet for her birthday, I noticed that there are two

packages available, one with rose petals for 65-70$, the description states that a bottle of Moet is included but there is no quantity specified, the 2nd package sells for 90$, description says it's a bottle of Moet and Chandon but the pictures say otherwise. I wouldnt want to pay for another brand if the description says Im paying for Moet. The fact that the champagne and rose petals package is less expensive tells me something is fishy. Has anyone ordered these packages recently?

Another question, we will be cruising with our 1 and 2 year old daughters, will we be charged 13.50$ per child for tips?

    Thanks
