  1. I think a good option is doing a jeep tour. We have been several times in Cozumel but we wanted something different. We booked through shore excursioneer https://www.shoreexcursioneer.com/cozumel/combo-catamaran-sail-snorkel-private-jeep.html and this is one of the best excursions ever! The meeting point was super easy to find and our guide was just amazing. We did first the catamaran portion, the snorkel was incredible, we were lucky to see a lot of fish and even a spotted eagle ray!! Then we went for our jeeps! We enjoyed a beautiful day and the tour was customized around how we wanted to spend the day. We see some places we haven't and learned a little bit more about the island.

  2. We normally book our day passes through shore excursioneer. We booked last time the Royalton, it's around 40 minutes away from cruise port. Food and drinks were really great as well as the beach, not that close but transportation was included. I heard the Hard Rock is open now in Montego Bay, and their beach and pool seems really nice, it seems to be 5 minutes away from the port, we would try that one next time.

  3. Please consider that in May, the weather in Progreso and it's surroundings can be very hot (80°F - 90°F). Maybe you can consider going to the cenotes . You can take a look at "El Chorchito" reserve. Some local friends took me there, but I know there are companies that take you to the site. There is a cenote that is kind of a kid's pool, not very deep. Why won't you look with shoreexcursioneer? I have used this company for many of my excursions in Cozumel, Belize, Costa Rica and Costa Maya, every time with good results.

  4. Maybe you can look at Papito's, they are in Punta Sur Park. It is around 25 min taxi drive from International Pier. Normally it is not crowded because is one of the spots that is far away from the pier. Service, food and drinks are excellent and also they have spots with shade for your grandma. Or why don't you call the Occidental? Walking to the beach is not hard, but it is a long distance, but maybe they are wheelchair accessible. The beach of the Occidental is very nice and also de food and drinks are good. Also you can try Alberto's Beach Bar, they are close to the entrance of "El Cedral", they are pay as you go, but I would say the food is excellent and also the drinks. They have a medium palapa and some small ones close to the beach.

  5. I was afraid the first time I used them, but now I always book my tours with them. We used them in Belize to do the cave tubing a year ago and we have a lot of fun. Our guide was just amazing and the food at the end of the tubing was delicious! I always have questions for everything and they have always answered everything.

  6. I don't know if it is too late or not. I always book my tours through shoreexcursioneer and I have seen many times in different ports they hay wheelchair accessible tours. Check their website, maybe you would find something of your interest.

  7. I guess it depends mostly if you like heat or not... I haven't been at Pancho's but to Cinco Soles.. it's around 0.7 miles away, if you walk on the sea side, you would avoid vendors, but there is no shade, if you go on the vendor's side and if they don't bother you, then it could be a 15 - 20 min nice walk. Or a taxi ride of 5 min at the most :p

  8. I would not do the Chichen Itza tour unless being in Progreso, the distance is shorter from there. Travel time to Tulum is 45+min ferry to Playa and then 1+hour to the ruins, the travel time always depends on how fast your group moves. I'm a Mayan ruin lover, so the travel was worth it. Tulum is not a big site, you would have enough time to explore the site and go to the little beach is in there. Some pics for you, have fun! :D:D

  9. We did a sightseeing tour in Puerto Limon last year. They took us to the Tortuguero Canal and Playa Bonita, we were not able to swim, the guide said the weather was not good enough but we walked around and enjoy the place and the views. We received some tropical fruits (I don't remember the name, but they were good) and back to the pier we were able to take go to a local supermarket, we bought a delicious coffee. Our guide was very informative and nice, we felt very safe and happy with this tour. We bought it through shoreexcursioneer, maybe it's still available.

  10. Progreso is not a good spot for snorkeling, the beach is a sandy beach. You can check with autoprogreso or shoreexcursioneer for Silcer Beach Club day pass, it might fit your needs. There is a natural reserve called "El Corchito", maybe a 20-25min ride from the port, a local friend took us there, it is beautiful! It has 3 cenotes that are amazing. I don't know if autoprogreso has any excursion, maybe you can contact them and they might arrange something for you... Hope this helps :)

  11. The nice thing about Cozumel is that you have many options to choose. Close to International you can go either to El Cid or Park Royal. El Cid has a small "man made" beach, food and drinks are good. Park Royal is also a good option if you want to stay close. If you really want a beach, there are many options.. maybe the Allegro or the Occidental? (they are very close to Nachi), or maybe Papito's Beach, Carlos n' Charlies? If you want to explore another part of the island, maybe go north and try Hotel B or El Cozumeleno? (you would have to take a taxi to get there). As they mentioned before you can take a look at Cozumel Water Sports or shoreexcursioneer, they have a lot of options. I liked the Occidental, nice pools, nice beach, the food is also good.

  12. When we cruise most of the times we use shoreexcursioneer, I have always found good prices and good tours. I haven't done this one, but you can find on their website the Altun Ha + Monkey Reserve. Maybe you'll find something that fit your needs.

  13. We loved it! The drive is around 20 min from Playa del Carmen to the location. Sometimes the water can be cold but the wet suit helps. Our guide was amazing, my parents were able to make the excursion, they are on their 80's and my dad doesn't know how to swim, the guide was amazing on helping him to go through the caves. I guess it depends on your physical condition? To get to the cave you have to walk a bit and as far as I remember it has some up and downs but nothing difficult. If you are a nature lover, then this one is for you! Enjoy!

  14. What are you looking for? If you are staying at the hotel zone, you can take a bus to downtown, all the drivers would get a few words in English and if you ask them to leave you in certain place, they would do it... You can take a bus, get down in "Chedrahui" and walk to get to Parque de las Palapas, you can walk around a bit and get the local vibe.. then you can walk back where you left the bus and ask anyone for the Mercado 28, you can purchase there souvenirs or just have lunch... another option is to take the bus to Playa del Carmen (ADO bus station) walk through the 5th ave. many good restaurants... if you have more budget, you can try any of the parks... XelHa, XPlor, Xcaret, Rio Secreto.... I enjoyed more Xplor and Rio Secreto, but hey, it's just me and I like adventure... must of the parks include transportation from Cancun to the park. More adventure? Rent a car and go to Puerto Morelos, you can download a map and go to several "cenotes" that are close to Puerto Morelos.

  15. If you arrive to the International pier, then you would have to take a taxi to downtown. You can start walking the malecon from Punta Langosta (as mentioned previously, walk on the ocean side to avoid vendors), when you arrive to the ferry to Playa, go to the park and walk around, you would find little stores and a church, if you return to the malecon, you would find a fountain then further to the north is the museum, it's small but nice, the entrance fee is around $3 or $4 (I know you said free, I guess is not that expensive??), further north is a local beach, rocky beach, so wear watershoes... then you would see the military airport, then you just can return and eat and some of the places and any taxi would take you back to the international pier. Have fun!

  16. We have done both and enjoyed both. If you are doing the royal swim at Chankanaab, you can spent the whole day there, as far as I remember, you would have access to the beach, pool & food. I think we paid some extra for the alcoholic drinks.. Mr. Sanchos is a nice place to spend the day, nice beach, pool, good drinks and watersports.

    Enjoy!!
