  1. OT: I always get a chuckle when I read post here that says "looks don't matter" and then that person will jump into a discussion about how they lurved a particular "icon" - Jackie O, Audrey Hepburn - when they don't know anything about them, other than they looked good! :D :D :D

not referring to you or anyone specifically, just a general observation. :)

Well Jane, it is like this, some people can love a style but have no sense of fashion. I am one of those.

I do enjoy watching PR. Tim makes that show.

  2. Jane, Curt would have better info, that is just what I have read on the move. Tivo does not work with our system. So sad, we loved it.

Honestly in my years I always thought New York was fashion. Los Angeles not so much. My personal fashion icon is Audrey Hepburn. She always looked good and dressed well.

  3. Color? This is NY, we've got three colors here...black, black and then black. LOL!

    kidding....just kidding!

    Jane

Black is something you can not go wrong with. Although some of the designers try hard to make it not work.:D

Will be interesting to see the differences when the show moves to CA, probably will not be able to catch it. Lifetime is set up badly for the west coast dish people. They also do not rerun like BRAVO. The channel is not even in HD.

  4. I liked a lot of the clothes from this challenge. I loved Leanne's two piece. She should have won. The problem I had with Kenley's was although adorable, pretty much would look best on a child.

Personally I could so go for Korto's pant suit with some dash of color.

  5.

But yes, you're right, high fashion has more impact in a big city than it does on a farm. But there's never a reason, imho, not to have style and pizazz, no matter what you're doing.

    Jane,

I had to think of a response. We do strawberries six months a year. The workers do not like sun exposure. All I ever see is two eye balls till the last paycheck. Then they come dressed to the nines in their way.

Nothing high end, no Prada stuff. Just I can dress nice, something I also do on cruise. I just compliment them and say see you next season. I am like the workers and also avoid the sun. So chair hogging is a none issue. Would love to see the PR people design clothes for my workers.

More for the year end party that they enjoy. Picking would be for the ladies full coverage. Although a designers take on that might be interesting:D.

  6. Jane,

You confirmed what I thought Blue Fly was. Even discounted high fashion does not fit our life style. I watch the show to see trends and styles I might use on a cruise. I work on a farm, there is no fashion there.

I could run through the field slapping everyone with a Prada bag, the response would be why are you hitting us with a purse.

So far it has been retro this year on the show. I lived it, throw on a copy of Saturday Night Fever and a Bee Gee's record and get over it. Did not do well with the style the first time do not think it might improve now.

  7. Personally I think Jeffery's fashions are limited and kind of dated. He was dressed in an AC/DC outift, I was like fashback to the 70's. Funnier yet his "arch" enemy Angela was recreating fashions from the same era. I know since I wore an outfit just like the group one she won. They need judges over the age of 40. Those styles did not catch on back then, why do they think they will work now.

I did tell Mr Ula for our next cruise on a fashion statement so he can be hip I will get out the glue gun and put sparkles on his pant fly's.

At least Jeffery did not replace his wigs with plastic plant pots. Might be cutting edge, we would just say Devo. The guy designs for Tommy Lee, not a spring chicken and our age group, but dresses how we dressed back then.

  8. I really enjoyed this last show throwing out the suspense of if Jeffery sewed all his stuff. It was nice to see these talented people on their own turf.

And if I could contact Laura I could tell her fact five boys in row is not special. Mr Ula is second oldest of five boys, child number six was a girl.

  9. I do have to say this episode actually made Jeffery look human. It was funny watching him run around with Uli's first thought on her dress. He is kind of like a naughty little boy, reminds me of my nephews. But I am just way to old for his designs so do not like them.

I really like that all four are moving forward. I think they have this year four very talented and diverse people. And I think the judges are having a struggle trying to decide.

  10. This show was interesting. And I think it brought home who the more talented designers are. I think Jeffery won over Kayne because he is a stronger designer.

But Jeffery is riding a line right now. Laura gets faulted for designing to old, Jeffery designs for Rave parties. The judges have to demand of Jeffery what they demanded of her. Design what is you but out of your comfort zone.

  11. babakookie,

I had heard the procedure is better since it can now be done with lasar. Although still takes multiple procedues to do and is still painful. There is a local doctor here that opens his practice for two hours on Saturday and does it for free. I hear people line up early for it.

  12. Kathy,

Actually people in Southern California are pretty average. Instead of LA mindset I probably should have used famous Hollywood mindset. The young movie star or rock and roll type person. The Brat/Rat pack set.

I do have to respect my mom on body piercing. My sisters oldest whom came to us at age seven got her lip pierced. We were doing brunch, and mom asked the question. You ever worry about getting your fork stuck in that and pulling your lip off?

  13. Jeffery does not get to me as much as others, he is from Los Angeles, so what he does and how he acts to me is just the stereotype for out here. He is not rebellious he is the norm. Just my opinion on him.

His tattoo no problem at least he does not have or has taken off the eyebrow rings, nose rings, lip rings and tongue rings.

I would like to see him go more outside the box. If he had gotten any overweight mother he would have dressed her in a sack like he did Angela's mom.

I do believe Angela and her mom did set him up, but I also understand the LA mindset. And I do think Angela probably was a butter would melt in her mouth back stabber. The lack of response when she left was telling. They were in tears when Robert left.

  14. This is just my opinion and I do live in So CA. Jeffery was a Tommy Lee wannabe. Seen that look too many times, one Tommy Lee is enough.

I thought Michael's was a little more hip, and something I could tolerate seeing the men in my family wear.

Uli always does a good job, as does Laura although they ought to have the designers go into maternity wear due to this unique event.

Kayne, such a likable guy. We would have a blast visiting the Liberace museum in Vegas together. Was there once years ago while the man was still alive, met his brother George. Lots of splash, I also years ago was at Graceland, Elvis was still alive then also. They did not dress that way when traveling.

And Angela, girl you always teetered there on the edge. You fell off this time.

Now a travel challenge I could get into is you people get two weeks, you need to design outfits that can fit both possible warm and cold climate, you need to chose the accessories and hygiene items, you need to plan for two formal nights, you can not bring an iron and you must all fit it in this one airline approved case that must weigh less than 50 pounds.

Could any of these designers do that?

  15. I have recently gotten into this show, a friend turned me on when they did the dog outfits. Some of those were nice, but I think it was Angela who did the outfit for the French children's teacher? The story in my head was this woman is going to Clown school.

But at least that outfit was better than the lady that lost, that outfit looked like early 70's Disney Uniform for the Monorail.

This weeks clothes I was not as impressed with, although I was OMG with the Cowl neck. Also the dress where I think I heard Stewardess, I was thinking Denny's waitress. I would keep that thing covered with a jacket also.

The show does give me ideas on cruise clothes. Since, and I make no excuses, I am a farmer. Only on a cruise can I wear nice things. I live to plan the clothes. Probably the only week or two a year I can dress feminine.

  17. This thread is pretty funny, and before cruising and a child back in the 60's and that means we shared every room with our parents. I wonder if I should ask them if they ever did it while my sister and I were in the room. I know they do things, my mom gave me a hysterical ***** story. But I like to think they were celibate while we were at home.
