Great info. Thank you!

Are we still allowed to bring a case of soda and/or bottle of wine?
-
Does anyone know of any discounts or coupons for the resort? We want to do a few days pre-cruise in January.
-
Yay!! This review is so fun. I think I love you guys! Maybe we'll cruise together soon!

Wow. Thanks Hoopster95. Those pictures are so helpful!
We will be in 7172 and are a little concerned about the lifeboats below. Ive done lots of searches but these pictures really sum it up well.

Wow Chrystal! He's already 3? And that suit!?!? Cuuuuutie

I agree with you robbycapnj.
We were so excited about this DD dining idea. It looked like something new and fun.
We cruise on Anthem in January and I have my fingers crossed that they will switch back before then. They likely won't but maybe...........

Thanks "Life is Good Cruising", that sounds perfect. $7 is my kind of price! I'm excited. Thanks for the helpful pics, too.

"Day 1 – We flew to Newark and checked into the Doubletree in Jersey City. Jersey City was a very nice central location for us. We have 2 days to explore before boarding the ship."
Thanks for this review! I was excited to read your details because we will be doing a very similar trip in a couple months and have similar sightseeing plans for the our precruise days. We will be staying at the Westin Jersey City which looks like is next to your hotel.
How did you get from the airport to Double Tree?and do you remember how much it cost and how long it took?
Also, what could you see from your hotel? Like, for instance, was there a nice view?
Thanks again for sharing!!

Yes, we were above the lifeboats. What type of pictures are you interested in?

Did the life boats interfere with your view from the balcony? Some on CC have said this is an issue in some of the deck 7 staterooms.
We have a deck 7 room close to yours in January so are a bit nervous.

We won one once. It was the best feeling ever. We were afraid there would be some catch but there wasnt. We just called and they were super helpful. We booked the basic free one and then later called back and upgraded the cabin because we wanted to see the free-ness first! Lol.
Congratulations! Enjoy.

Sweet!!! Congratulations!

The Westin is lovely, and has a great view of lower Manhattan. Yes, you can see it from the restaurant/lounge and the location is perfect for getting into NYC. PATH is just downstairs. Bayonne needs a hotel but most of the area surrounding Cape Liberty is ugly. It's an old military ocean terminal with condemned buildings that haven't been removed due to the cost of asbestos remediation. Once you get out to the water it's nice, the new terminal is great and the 9/11 Teardrop memorial is there.
I'm excited to see it all! We'll be in the area for 3 days pre-cruise.

Is anyone familiar with the One UN Hotel in Manhattan? Maybe it used to go by a different name? Someone asked me about it and I thought I would check here.
-
If you don't get a view, sure to explore the Westin thoroughly. I've heard that the restaurant on the top floor has great views and you can just go there for a drink. Any public venue on a high floor should have a great view. Check into whether Starwood rewards will get you free wifi.
Thanks! I will for sure.

(By contrast, the Embassy Suites or indeed any hotel at EWR will give you a view of ... the airport, as well as [probably] the New Jersey Turnpike and/or various service roads. I know which view I prefer! ;))
Lol!!!!! :D I concur!!!
Thanks for your help, too. :)
-
Oh, ok. I was hoping... Thanks!
-
We currently have the Westin Jersey City booked and it looks SUPER fantastic. We also still have the Embassy Suites at EWR booked (because I haven't cancelled yet... :o lol). I am ignorant about this general area but when cruising from Florida ports, I like to wake up and see the cruise ships come in. Would I be able to see the cruise ships come in from either of these 2 hotels?

I called RC. The man had to look up each individual cabin so I only asked him a few :o
Here's what he told me:
6170 50%
6172 75%
I wish I could have asked him every cabin. Maybe we can compile a list if other people call and ask for a few room numbers each. ;)
I think I pushed him to his limit he was getting testy on the last 2 lol
I wonder, since 6172 is 75% obstructed, if 7172 will be at least slightly obstructed. I thought it had a deeper balcony from the photos.

two loungers.. nice.. not like those plastic or metal chairs? i think i saw a pic somewhere they look kinda wicker is that true?
They are reclining mesh chairs and an ottoman. I think the wicker furniture is in some of the suites.
That's exciting!!! I love these chairs! And we can both put our feet up :)

That's terrific! The hotel was not nameless when I looked.
Please check back later in the year about the PATH status for that weekend. They are doing track work, but the PATH site indicates that they will not do it on holiday weekends, but Christmas and New Years are not yet listed. We should have feedback by then about the Labor Day Experience,
Ok. I will. Thanks again!
