Thanks for the helpful information.   So, how did it work?  Did they just give you five tickets and five laundry bags when you started the cruise?

5 Tickets along with our excursion tickets were in our cabin at beginning of cruise (the 3 pack deal tickets looked just a bit different from the regular ones).  Bag is in the closet and you get the bag back with your cleaned clothes.  Attendant will get you another bag if you want to do more at once.

  2. Just off Celebrity Beyond (12 day med cruise) - the 3 bags do NOT need to be put in at the same time.  We purchased 2 individual bags and the individual "back home" package of 3 bags (2 cabins with our adult daughters).  Pricing was a fair bit cheaper when purchased in advance. We received 5 tickets for laundry and used them sporadically throughout the cruise, shared between the 2 cabins.  In the past, we would get laundry within 24 hours - this time it was closer to 36 or 48 hours.

  3. Was just there last week on Beyond.  Starboard side was to the dock, port side to harbor.  We usually slept with the Veranda window open but there was significant "party boat" traffic playing music late into the night from our port-side cabin.  The Galataport was an impressive place - all underground with room for 70 excursion buses.

  4. Just home from Symphony and we had a Chill Island Cabana.  When I boarded, I went to shore excursions to select my cabana and was told they are assigned in advance.  Sure enough, when I went into my stateroom the cabana ticket as well as instructions, map and cabana assignment were all there.  Luckily I was front row, center - cabana #6.  Included cooler with ice/water as well as ceiling fan, usb/power outlet, 4 chaise lounges, 2 floats, couch, two side chairs and a coffee table that has lockable storage.  Cabana attendant gets your lunch/drinks and even came back with fruit, ice cream and extra waters.  Snorkel equipment is free, but you need to go to snorkel shack to get it.

  5. On the same topic, what if you have a 3 dinner package, book all your reservations and decide to go to a 4th or to Sabor or for sushi? I know Sabor & Izumi are a la carte - which will be charged against the 3 meal package and which will be paid separately? Do I tell the server?

Boarding Sunday and still have questions!

    Thanks!

  6. I booked specialty dining on Oasis and apparently they pick your first evening and you can only book once you board. My question is whether you have to go to a specialty restaurant to book your remaining nights or can you do it from your stateroom instead? Someone I know mentioned that it can be done through the TV - is this accurate?

Alternatively, is there a way to book dining before boarding? I've looked but can't seem to find out how after I purchased the 4 night package.

I'm a first time cruiser and I'm trying to have everything done before I board to avoid lines, etc. Thanks!!

  7. First time cruiser in a unique situation. Wife has never cruised and I last cruised in the 70s on the Italian Lines out of NYC. Although our normal vacations involve outdoor adventures (hiking, National Parks, scuba, etc.) we always said we should experience a cruise, especially since a close friend is a frequent cruiser and kept insisting we would have a wonderful time.

So, we booked Celebrity Reflection for a western Caribbean trip in February, figuring we could dive in Cozumel and Grand Cayman. However, after the 90 day cancellation date passed with Celebrity, my wife was awarded a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas from her employer for the same week! Rather than even attempt to cancel, and since we had planned the Celebrity cruise for my 50th, we decided to work with Celebrity to try a back-to-back adventure that would work around the existing cruise she had been awarded. We head out on Oasis of the Seas from Port Canaveral and the Sunday of our return we rent a car and head to Port Everglades to board Celebrity Silhouette. Since they are both on an eastern itinerary with overlapping ports which we have been to many, many times, we are planning on total relaxation on the ship with perhaps only a trip to the beach here and there.

My real question is whether anyone with experience on both ships (or lines) can guide us with some advice with what to expect from each ship and what things we should seek to do on one versus the other, and vice-versa. I have been lurking and have read a lot of the posts on here, but looking for some specific input as it pertains to back-to-back cruises as well as the differences between the ships.

I have already set up select dining, drink packages and internet on both cruises as well as a couple of “beach” excursions and “behind the scenes tours”. I have set up entertainment as well through RCI for the Oasis, while there is no opportunity to do so on Celebrity’s site.

Any input would be greatly appreciated as my wife and I are a bit apprehensive to be doing 2 weeks back-to-back as our first cruise “experience”. Thanks again!

P.S. I figured I’d post this on the Royal Caribbean Forum as well as the Celebrity Forum, if that is a violation of some forum protocol, forgive my ignorance.
