  1. Both are ABC Islands, exact same itinerary, same month and all.  We have to fly in no matter what.

Horizon in the Havana (balcony and and interior room)

    Out of Port Canaveral

    or

Celebration but no Havana (balcony and an interior room)

    Out of Miami

We have been on the Horizon and really liked it.  Would be nice to do the Havana, which we never have. Yet, it's difficult to turn down the newness of Celebration and we have teens that would love the water slides and other fun.  Havana on the Celebration adds $1k to the trip and doesn't look as nice as Horizon but I could be convinced.

  2. Right now we have 2 non haven rooms booked.  One will have our 17/20 year old and the other us.   We were told we can go to guest services and have our keys granted access to each others rooms.  If we were to upgrade one room to Haven, would we still be allowed to do that?   Also, since my husband and I each have to have a name on a room, will that cause any issue with Haven access, since  technically it's my son's name on the room with me?

I am not speaking of any amenities,  just room access.

We have missed St. Marteen 3 times in row. First was after hurricane hit, other 2 were due to storms creating large swells, making it dangerous to dock. Oh Well, maybe next time.

oh no, that is one of our ports!

It took us 3 cruises to get to Grand Turk. Even though it;s not a tender, high winds kept us from docking.

Do you recall what months?  Wondering if some are known to be windier then others.  We are there in less then 2 weeks!  (hopefully)

Just hop on an elevator.  Of course, it IS a lot of stairs from deck 2 if you choose to use them.  Ha, we swore at the beginning of the week we would use the stairs as much as possible.  By the end of the week we were....using the elevators.

Thanks!!  Wasn't sure how long waits were for elevators.  I've heard mixed reviews on the new ones.  We were on deck 9 last time and just loved being that close to the action. 🙂

  6. I have a 15 year old with autism that I was hoping we could put into circle c with his siblings.  Now I'm quite worried.   I had no idea it would be SUCH a big deal to others.    Circle C would be a much better fit for him.

I also agree that 18 in high school verses 18 and in college can have a big difference and that should be accounted for.

  7. Disembarkation-

Miami Port at 8:00am.  Self Assist.  Will a 1:06 flight work out of FLL, most likely?

    Embarkation-

I am flying in to Tampa to spend time with my parents before cruise.  I plan to rent a car and drive it down to Miami, returning the car there.  Any tips of which car company and how I can get my family and myself to Miami Port from there?

    THANK YOU.

  8. The only show we would do is a comedy show or maybe a hasbro one.  We don't gamble.  The vast majority of our time will be spent reading on deck, hanging with our kids and eating.

I got a family harbor ocean view.  I think my husband will like having easy access to snacks, ice cream, etc...We know we like the back of the boat location.  Also doing your time dining so that we don't have to adhere to a schedule.

Another reason I switched is we can see a movie, tour brewery (he'd love that), and just sounded like more to do.  We have 3 sea days which is a lot for a guy that feels like a trapped animal on a cruise, doesn't gamble or do shows.  He WILL buck it up and have fun, don't get me wrong, but I decided these things will make it a little easier for him to do that.

Wish I would have went with my gut instinct from the start on this, but the change is done and good or bad choice, there's no going back now.

You guys are amazing help and I loved all the opinions and insight!

Just so you know, we did that exact same itinerary on that exact same ship in April 2017.  I've been to all those ports many, many times (save GT which once gives you a complete pic).  Ask me anything you like.

I may take you up on that, thanks!

Have you ever been to any of these ports?  It's a really good itinerary.

No, and that's why we picked it and hubby has agreed.  We can't afford to get there otherwise.  The airfare alone cost us the price of the entire cruise.  I choose the Sunshine over Horizon because of departure port and  it being cheaper to fly to Orlando, but am going to review that again.  Along with the other suggestions.
