  1. So we sail out with carnival a week from today (HOORAY!) and I've been watching the weather like crazy. Unfortunately, as of right now it's looking like there will be 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms. How does that effect departure times?

I know weather can change with a drop of hat, it's texas for crying out loud, but you never know.

    Thanks!

  2. I know I've seen other posts about this but how necessary are passports? We are going to Cozumel and Progreso but only getting off the boat in Cozumel. Please tell me we're not crazy for not having passports [emoji4]

  3. Thank you for the replies! Great advice.

Another question I had was: we are scheduled to get back in Galveston at 8am. How long does it usually take to get off the ship? We have a wedding (which we thought was going to be in the evening) at 2:30pm about 2.5 hours away the day we get back. So we would have to be on the road NLT 12pm. Is that possible?

  4. My husband and I are going on the Valor in march. This will be his first and my first one in over 10 years and had a few questions.

    1. Right now we are scheduled for Early Dining, but I am going back and forth trying to decide if we want to switch to Anytime Dining. Any advice on which is better?

    2. Is the Travel Insurance necessary?

    3. Opinions on Prepaid gratuity vs pay on board?

    4. Any other tips would be awesome!

    Thanks!! [emoji4][emoji4]

  5. Cheers package is $49.95 per person per day if booked ahead of time. It includes 15 drinks per day so long as EACH drink is under $50. It also includes specialty coffees, energy drinks, and milk shakes.

Basically, cocktails run $8-12 each (beer is obviously cheaper) so 5-6 of those a day and you will break even....or if you're like me 10-12 of those a day and it makes Cheers totally worth it haha.

One thing to remember, Cheers isnt available first day on the ship as Texas liquor laws are... irritating. You wont be charged for that day though.

Thanks! I think we are going to get the package. Might as well!! Thanks!

  6. WOW! thank you all so much. this has been really helpful. We are still on the fence about the Cheers package. I wasn't old enough to drink on the previous cruises so I'm not really familiar with the pricing and what not. Guess we still have some time to figure that out.

Another question: I get motion sickness and the previous cruises I wore a patch behind my ear. Do those still exist or is there a pill I can take? Also, where's the best place on the ship for the cabin. The room we are currently looking at is on deck 6, which I like cause I remember being towards the bottom and waiting FOREVER to get off the boat. Just curious :)

Thanks again for all of the advice!!

*Original post edit: I realized I put that my last cruise was in 2010, it was actually in July 2006 on Carnival Conquest.

  7. Howdy!

My husband is coming back from deployment and we are going on a cruise in March. This will be his 1st and my 4th (but it's been a while) the last cruise I took was in July 2010 so I have a few "newbie" questions that I hope y'all can help me with...

    1. Do we need passports? I don't remember ever having to use them but wanted to make sure.

    2. Generally, what is the price for drinks on the ship? What's the average spent? We are trying to budget for it. Is the prepaid $50 card worth it?

    3. What are some good but not too pricy excursions in Progresso? This will be the first time I've been there and from what I've seen on carnivals website it's mainly ruins/site-seeing.

    4. We are looking at staying in an interior room but have the option to choose a room with a picture view. How does that compare to just a regular room?

Those are all of the questions I have for now. I'm sure more will come up.

Any other tips will be greatly appreciated [emoji4]

    Thanks in advance!
