Showtime this evening was Darren Dowler. Despite my kids constantly telling me I’m old, I was far too young for his show as I didn’t know any of the songs or bands (well, maybe 2 or 3). He was a great singer and may have been a great vocal impressionist - since I didn’t know what the original singers sounded like I couldn’t tell! After the show, I listened to karaoke, grabbed DS from kids club and called it a night!

At 60, I’m often too “young” for the vocal entertainers they have on Princess. Most of the impressions are lost on me as well.

I would have agreed with you but then I sailed with Matt O! Prior to that, no one made n impression enough to make me choose a sailing because of them. I suspect no one will again!

I thought DuVall was very good, but in my opinion no one compares with Matt O. Never will.

Also, when I try to view what’s on using the new, improved medallion class app (and if I hear the term medallion class sailing one more time I swear I will throw myself off the ship) this is all I get. Every. Time.

When we where onboard a few weeks ago, I got this every time I tried to access Journeyview on the app for the whole cruise. It worked well on the screens by the elevators though. Still prefer the Patter, where you can see everything at a glance.

A few pics from sailaway. Just a small, personal whine (sorry)…I MUCH preferred the old sailaway parties where it was just the cruise staff leading the cheesy dances and all the guests dancing on the open deck. These newer “staged” ones are ok, but nowhere near as fun ms not as much atmosphere (just my opinion - can you tell I don’t deal well with change?)

Totally agree with you about the sail away parties. I really enjoyed the old ones that were actually dance parties. We were on the first two Discovery sailings b2b, and when they brought out Fortuna Luck to promote the bingo program, we left the “party”.

  5. Matt O was by far our favorite cruise director. What a great loss for Princess and their passengers.

On one of our last cruises before the pandemic hit, the cruise director we had (won’t mention their name) spent a lot of time trying to “sell” the passengers on the benefits of the Medallion program. During one very scripted and fake sounding presentation, I couldn’t help but think “I bet this is not what they signed up for”. This CD used to be a lot of fun, but they sure weren’t on that cruise. I’m wondering if this is the situation that drove Matt O to leave. If so, good for him.
