  1. Strangely specific question here - I am in the middle of pretty intense training for upcoming races. I can tell from the photos there are stationary bikes of the sort with big wide seats or recumbent styles of stationary bikes. Does anyone know if the gym has a spin or peleton type bikes (or any exercise which is set up more like a regular road bike would be). I am hoping to get a few hours in on a spin type bike and I can't tell if they are available or not.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

  2. Just back from a 9 day cruise out of Baltimore. The 10 drink card was offered for $79 on the 4th day of the cruise. I bought it and often the card didn't get marked. I only had 10 drinks, but I am not sure if they keep track aside from marking the card (card only got marked 7 times). With gratuity it was about $95 for the card. If you stick with the "drink of the day" - then the prices are similar. I usually got a Long Island Ice Tea and split it w/ a coke for my boyfriend and I. It was listed in the cruise guide that was left in our cabin at night.

You can also bring in your carry-on 2 bottles of wine on board per cabin to drink in your cabin (or dump in your water bottle). As long as you open it yourself and use it in your cabin (or water bottle) there is no additional charge.

  3. Just back from Grandeur. The gym is small and at the times that I manged to get myself there, every single treadmill and bike were typically in use. One treadmill was not working. They mostly face the starboard side of the boat and I found it disconcerting to try to run on the treadmill under the left-right movement of the boat. I ended up using the outside track (1/4 mile) for runs. I did take one yoga class - which ended up being almost $15 and was only 40 minutes, 10 minutes of which was savasanna. Not worth the cost at all and way too short. The only floor space is also used for the classes, and is really small. I needed to spend some time on the foam roller and there was no way to do it with classes going on. There was also no TVs for watching while you are on the machines, and wifi only if you pay. I don't love machine workouts anyhow, so the fitness center wasn't my cup of tea. If I had managed to time by workouts differently it probably would have been better. The cruise was also completely sold out - so use was at maximum levels most likely.

If you use strava or garmin or some other tracker for your workouts, the run will look crazy fast and map you to the middle of the ocean. I set a whole bunch of new PRs!

  4. Just back (today) - I wondered the same thing. As well as what others have said - all of those drinks are available all the time (not just at meals), at least on Grandeur of the Seas. There were drink stations near the Windjammer. I brought empty water bottles and we just topped up with ice and water as needed. I did buy the soda package for the kids, but honestly I think they didn't use it enough to justify the cost.

  5. Is other water not available? I did not purchase a drink package because I don't drink enough alcohol or soda or smoothies to justify the cost. Is it difficult to find water on board? I planned to just bring my water bottle and fill it as needed. Is buying bottled water the only option?
