Having booked through a UK travel agent rather than direct with RCI, I assume the chance if getting a phone call is practically zero?
Actually, is it even possible for RCI to upsell us, or do they have to go through travel agent?

Have read few different threads with people recommending multi-pocket door organisers for toiletries etc....
Just wondering, do you go for the ones with a coat hanger type hook at the top (is there a hook on inside of bathroom door?)..
.. or the over-door type (can the hooks on the top of this type fit over top of bathroom door when its closed?)
Thanks for all the advice

To be honest, I agree it is it unfair of RCI to introduce new charges on such a short time scale - especially after Final Payment for some upcoming cruises....
BUT...
I will admit that Ive never used room service. I assumed that the argument was that the cost was going from free to 7.95
When I examine the menu's, I see that the previous menu was very limited. I always assumed I could have ordered to have practically anything delivered to my room. When I look however, 99% of the limited menu that I would even think about ordering were not free - they were charged per item!
So while I appreciate that some people may have just ordered the free items, personally I would prefer to pay 7.95 for unlimited number of items that actually sound appealing.
This is just my personal view, and I do appreciate the view that something advertised as free should be free..... but just wanted to highlight this fir people (like myself) who have never looked at the old menu!

I see the new Room Service menu has been posted on here....
Out of interest, could someone post a copy of the old menu please?
Im on Indy in May and just looking to see if I prefer the free old one, or pay for the new one.

If yoy buy a package online before you go they guarantee that it will not be cheaper onboard.
See mycruisephotos.com for details.
If there is a better price or package deal onboard they will refund difference.

Wow! That is great.... Wonder does this happen often? I just assumed that they just upgrade one category..... so they would have moved you to ocean view, that ocean view to balcony, and the balcony room to junior suite. What level of C&A are you? Wonder does that have an influence on it?
Enjoy your cruise!

It does say on the Mycruisephotos website that the price onboard will be higher.
There is also a price promise - so that if for some reason the price is cheaper onboard they will refund the difference you have paid.
Have bought the $199 package as from what people have said on here its a great deal!

Always find that hotel rooms etc tend to be either too warm or a bit chilly.... Any opinions on whether an interior room on Independence would tend to be warm or cold at night? (Mediterranean cruise in May, will be 2 adults & 2 kids in room). Trying to sort what to pack!
Thanks

The digital only package is $199 and the digital & prints package is $279.
Am going to go for the $199 package. Just wanted that reassurance that it was a good price!
Thank you all for replying.

The photo packages for my upcoming 14 night cruise on Independence have just been made available online. I see the All-in digital only package is $199. I'm interested in buying this, but wondering if anyone knows is this a good price, or is it likely to fluctuate up or down prior to sailing? Whats the cheapest its been offered previous? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Can you remember what photo packages were offered on board? Im thinking about buying the All In Package but its not offered online for my cruise in May yet. Heard its usually cheaper to buy before the cruise.... just wondered how much it was onboard? Thanks

Are there DVD players built in to the TV's in the staterooms? Thought i had read that somewhere but cant find it now. Thinking more about lowly interior rooms rather than suites etc. Thanks

Didnt realise they gave away things like free cruises or free upgrades on board! How do you find out about them? Are they well publicised or do you have to be lucky to hear where/when they are?

Malaga is on the Costa del Sol, so I think you can find a beach there. Cadiz is very walkable and I'm sure I saw places to get ice cream... I believe there is a malecon along the shore in Civitavecchia and it might be a good place to run off some energy. It would be a long train ride into Rome unless you caught the express. And then plenty of walking. EM
Thanks for replying.
Yes - I think a lot of ports may just be playing on beach, eating ice-cream etc

In Barcelona, there's an Ariel Tram ride that the boys might enjoy. Views are terrific.

Hadnt heard of this - sounds ideal. Will check it out
Thanks

Your 4-year old will not remember much if anything. The 8-year old may recall some of what he does on the cruise if you take good photos and reinforce his memories. Given this, I would recommend that in general you find things to do that will interest you the parents. Make some compromises as needed to keep the kids amused and not whining. But don't go looking for DisneyLand experiences for them - think of this as a cruise for the adults. Because they will not remember anyway.

Thanks for replying.
You are right - we want to make sure that we make the most of this holiday and that we enjoy it. So yes, need to have time to do what we adults want. Just trying to get that balance right, whereby we do some things to interest the kids, because if they're happy it means we can enjoy our time better too!

Consider splitting up. Let one of the parents do something of particular interest while the other tends to the boys.
Yes - we had talked about being able to have our own time if there was sonething or somewhere we especially wanted to see.

We have booked a 14 night Med cruise with Royal Caribbean for May and are bringing our 2 boys with us (ages 8 & 4).
Now we are planning our port days, all of the organised trips appear to be adult orientated (as well as extremely expensive!). Our boys wouldn't be impressed just walking round a town/city no matter how scenic/architecturally interesting it was!!
Our last cruise was our honeymoon 10 years ago, so this cruise with children with us is obviously going to be very different! Just wondering what other families did to keep everyone happy on port days?
Our itinerary is:
Gibraltar
Barcelona
Ville franche
Civitavecchia
Valencia
Malaga
Cadiz
Gibraltar we plan to get cable car up to top of rock to see monkeys, walk down to caves, then walk back to top to get cable car down again. I know you can get taxi tour to include caves and other attractions on rock but think boys would enjoy the experience of the cable car?
Barcelona - thinking of walking up Les Ramblas, but no idea after that!
Civitavecchia - am thinking maybe too far/too much hassle to get train etc to Rome and back?
Other ports - absolutely no idea!
Any advice welcome!
Thanks

I notice on the Dog & Badger menu that even a Gin Fizz or Martini is $14 - that mean there's an extra charge even though you have drinks package?
Hope u have a great trip. We on Indy on 1st May from Southampton.... cant wait!
