  1. I don't have answers for the drop off info but upon your return you might consider a ship transfer that would take your luggage the last night of the cruise and you wouldn't have to deal with it again until you get dropped off at the airport. If easier, you could then go get the car while your husband waited with the luggage at the terminal.

  2. We used Delta Cruises to book and they called Princess to add the transfer. Delta could not see it as an option in their own booking software. It was $118 for the 2 of us on May 18. I would call Costco back and ask them to call Princess to add your transfer. We have used Costco for other cruise lines before and they have always been happy to call, as is their job.

  3. We took the ferry to Haines ourselves and once you get off the boat there is NOTHING close. We walked a ways and hit a brewery then came across a taxi service who said he'd pick us up at a restaurant at a certain time. He never showed up and we had to quickly trek back to the ferry. The town itself was quite sparse. I'd make sure you have pre-arranged transportation to the sights you'd like to see ahead of time.

  4. We received iHealth when the US government sent them out. They have the option to register for online monitoring for around $20-25. The free Binax don't have that option. BUT our iHealth expire in June so you may need to check that - while double checking online as some tests recently had the expiration dates extended.

Unless they turn things around pretty soon, the Ms will likely be paying YOU to come to the games, as long as you're willing to shell out $25 for a dog and a beer.

Seriously, though, it's a lovely ballpark.

Gotta check out the new value menu - $3 dogs, nachos, popcorn and more and $5 beer

  6. In 2019 the Hertz shuttle was at the dock when we got off the ship. We did not pre-arrange and there were a couple of other passengers using them also since they are the only rental car company. But if I recall I did a quick call to confirm their procedures before we left home

  7. We are American citizens sailing out of Vancouver in May. We will be in Canada for 4 days before our cruise departs so we will need to test in Canada before we board the ship. Testing in Canada is relatively expensive so I'm wondering if HAL accepts the iHealth tests that are observed via a virtual meeting with a proctor. These tests are approved for re-entry by plane in to the U.S and they are also the brand we received free by mail from the government so they are legit.

The HAL website says "negative, medically-observed viral COVID-19 test" but I'm not certain this is really considered "medically observed." I do plan to call HAL but I am just wondering if anyone might have first hand experience.

    Thanks for any insight

We’re parking at the airport in the Value Long Term lot. We’re on a 14 night round trip so will book for two weeks for about $170. We’ll take the train into town from the Templeton Station at the parking lot, unless we get lazy and take a cab.

Thanks for that! Good deal for the 14 days, unfortunately doesn't seem worth the hassle for just 1 week. Enjoy your cruise!

We had considered the train so we were watching for updates but decided to drive to Vancouver instead. Amtrak is starting test runs between Seattle and Vancouver in anticipation of starting back up soon.

We are driving to Vancouver from Anacortes in May. Do you plan to park right at the port or have you found any other options? I tried online booking at the port but it said it wasn't available to book online. I've emailed with no reply. Will give it a few more days and try calling. Preliminary searches haven't really returned any other options.

  10. We only have the passport cards but 2 years ago the agent physically took them for all 4 of us. Can't be sure that they were scanned but pretty sure they were. I'd say it took a solid 5 minutes. On the way out of Skagway we were the only car, and the way back there was only 1 in front of us.

  11. A friend and I bought the thermal suite pass for our upcoming trip on the Jewel. I've never gotten the spa pass before, actually never been to a spa period. In researching what's normally worn in the spa it's obviously bathing suits for the most part but the majority of cruises aren't in cooler weather. Wondering if this is generally true for Alaska as well? Our main purpose for the pass is the relaxation of the heated loungers with that awesome view and maybe having access to the showers. Would it be weird to use the loungers in yoga pants and a t-shirt or something similar?

     Thank you!

That's interesting, I don't know how they would do that on the Jewel.

The theatre is on 6&7 which makes sense but as far as I know deck 5 is cabins only, I don't really understand this.

You normally don't book the theatre on the Jewel.

I also see it's listed at $0, that would suggest a specialist restaurant is not included, I'm lost.

Yes, I found the $0 perplexing as well. Thought maybe it was only announced once on board. Guess I'll find out in July.

  13. If you're comfortable on your own we rented a car from Avis and explored the Yukon on our own. Went to the dog sled place and had lunch there, stopped at Emerald Lake, and got to sit and watch a brown bear on the side of the road all by ourselves for about 10 minutes until another car showed up. After we just explored the town a bit. This year we will do the same but go all the way to Whitehorse since our stop is longer.

  14. We just got home last week and one of our favorite things was renting a car in Skagway and driving to Emerald Lake. The drive and scenery is amazing! Like nothing we have ever seen before. Carcross is an interesting little stop and we went to Caribou Crossing dog sleds. We didn't do the ride but our teens had fun playing with the dogs and then they served a decent BBQ lunch. We arrived before any of the tour buses got there and had the whole place to ourselves. Saw a huge brown bear on the side of the road on our way back. When we got back to Skagway the kids went back to the ship and we went to Skagway Brewing for drinks and snacks and then walked through the town.

In Ketchikan my husband did the Salmon excursion through the ship (NCL sun) - only 6 per boat. He said it was awesome and the captain he had was phenomenal.

Our stop in Juneau was only 5 hours. We just walked downtown and included a stop at Red Dog Brewing where I had my first Duck Fart (for breakfast LOL) and then to Tracy's for an awesome bucket of King Crab.

Whatever you decide will be awesome - have a blast!
