  1. Hi all!

So I've been in the market for new luggage, and wanted to upgrade to a new spinner set. I was all set in getting a 29' spinner (most of the cruises I go on are for a week), and then I started seeing a few feedback regarding that size. Some said not only is it very easy to go over the 50lbs weight limit (this is all airport restrictions, not cruising) , but also usually that size will go over the 62' total size of luggage. I was reading that most suitcase dimensions dont include the wheels, and if you were to get a ticket agent who was to measure, it could add up very easily each trip to the airport.

I was curious as to what has been people's experience with luggage size and oversize fees they have encountered. I ordered the next size down, the 25' and the 21" boarding suitcase. That way I only have to pay for one checked bag and the other one still fits into carry on size.

I am thinking at least this way it gives me peace of mind I wont worry about incurring any extra fees at the airport every time I go. I always tend to pack heavy, so I guess this will force me not to as well.

Thanks for your input, just hoping I didnt make the wrong choice.

  2. Hey all!

So quick question for those that have sailed and been in one of these cabins with the overhand. I booked a last minute EXCELLENT balcony guarantee cabin, and got assigned to 13101. I know, its the overhang which I dont mind to be honest considering I do like shade to read on the balcony, and enjoy breakfast out there without the hot Caribbean sun shining right on me during my time of trying to wake up. I'll save that for the pool & beach!

My question is, do you hear noise from the pool deck up above? I know this is going to be a subjective question. With the cabin recessed, I see that more of the lounge chairs may not be directly over us, but more pool and other areas. Any experience from being on this deck? Do I need to pack my ear plugs? ;-)

When I called MSC I was told the ship is sold out (not sure if thats really true) and I couldnt switch because nothing was available to switch to. I am super happy with what I did get though, can't beat a balcony cabin for $329 for the week! I have the attitude I will take the cabin at that price!

    Thanks in advance!

  3. one more Pete. 13101, please. Can you tell me square footage, couch situation, and bed/tub combo?

Thanks in advance so much! Not entirely thrilled with the overhand, but I ~do~ like shade on the balcony anyways.

  4. OOOPS! I meant 7152. :)

hey royalcruz! It's funny how some things work out. After reading all the rave reviews which I was expecting, I saw the cabin drop out of availability. Darn, I said there was my chance I was too slow. Rechecked again earlier today, and all of a sudden half the aft cabins besides the two corners (one of them yours) were available! The C&A rep said he never saw so many open up like that so close to sailing. He said you'll love the new aft experience!

So we are only two doors down from you! Thanks so much for everybody's responses as well. Looking forward to it!

  5. Hey all.

Avid cruiser, and doing a 4nt Vision of the Seas cruise end of this month. I've been a mostly balcony cruiser from the start, and its always been a side cabin. I've heard such great things from so many of you of the aft cabins, but when I have checked various cruises in the past, they were booked.

I just checked now, and a D1 aft balcony 7654 just opened up available. I'm already on the 7th deck side balcony. Should I do the switch?

Having a hard time finding vision D1 aft balcony photos, and specially since it just did revitalization. Is the cabin the same layout as the side cabins on Vision? What is the balcony furniture?

Thanks so much in advance. It may not even be available when I read some answers and go to move! Heh. Be well and enjoy! ;-)

  6. Welcome Metman! Actually, when I was on Majesty back in November, they were playing The Great Gatsby in the main Chorus Line Theater/Lounge a few nights during the 3 night cruise. I was impressed, it felt as close to watching a movie at an actual theater of any cruise ship I've been on because most wont use their main theater for it.

Regardless, you and your grandson will enjoy! Majesty is one of my favorites on the fleet for quite a few reasons.

  7. Quick question...

After my next 8 night cruise in April, I will be changing to Diamond Plus category. I was just looking as well to do a short 4 night cruise, which is only 9 days later after the cruise I got off of that made me Diamond +.

Technically, I know I am Diamond+ for that next cruise, but will it be enough time for RCCL C&A to register it so I get proper status before it. Will it be something that a quick phone call will take care of?

I consider myself very blessed if this is my only question in life I have for the day. ;)

  8. [quote name='Raenstoirm']We had a package, so we had a special card to put out, but it is roughly the same thing (we just got free morning alcohol included). No issues what-so-ever on the Grandeur las spring.

Hey Raendtoirm, what package was that? I am more than willing to pay for a special breakfast for room service?
  9. Hey all!

Some reason not finding the search feature as easy as I used to. Does anyone know the order of the 'themed' dinners for the 8 nights on Independence. (ie saffron, sage, oregano, etc..)

This helps me chose what nice for speciality restaurants. Plus, anyone recently that has gone saying lobster night is the last formal night dinner as well?

Thanks in advance. Keep Cruisin! ;)

  10. thanks clarea & live2b, I am hoping it was just that way for the short night cruise only.

Also, has anyone had success with just waking up and calling room service to order breakfast for the room instead of hanging the door hanger out the night before? I'm just curious because I think I've heard people do that with no problem. I always assume you had to leave it out there to even order.

  11. Hey all!

So being one that is Loyal to Royal, I have noticed over the years that the breakfast room service menu has dwindled down , I remember years ago them having omelettes and such on the menu, then down to choice of scrambled eggs only (at least still with a choice of sausage, ham, tomato, hashbrown). I noticed these changes and raised an eyebrow to myself but didnt think too much about it. I understand there at times needs to be changes.

However, very recently I went on Majesty for a 3 night one, and surprisingly looked at the menu, and saw it was ONLY continental now, rolls, yogurt, a banana basically. Highly dissapointed. Even the door hangers call it Continental breakfast now.

Question is, is this now continental breakfast for delivery fleetwide? I was hoping it was just maybe for the shorter weekend cruises they made these changes. Please let me know your findings, I'm scheduled for Indy in the spring .

::sigh:: it was only of the few things I have recently not been thrilled with RCCL about. I know, I know I can go up to WJ and bring the food down. At least in years past if I wrote in smoked salmon I didn't have a problem getting it. Now, its as if I asked them to open the safe deposit box in the purser's desk :p
