Hi Sarah. I have also thoroughly enjoyed reading about your cruise. I was interested to know that you are swaying now you are home. It’s a most peculiar sensation.
I wear sea bands on board to help with seasickness (along with tablets if needed) but I also wear them for several days when I get home and I find they help a lot with the swaying motion. The number of days I wear them depends on the length of the cruise. I also wear them ashore on port days. I hope you find that helpful.
Happy cruising.

Hi Caullkhead. No, it’s not just you finding it difficult going out. We have been out for a meal on Friday night on a number of occasions latterly last year. The first time we went out I was really scared and way out of my comfort zone. We went out last Friday, which was the first time this year, and I was fine. However, we always go to the same same pub where we have been regulars over the years. Last Sunday we went to a large supermarket to collect a parcel and it was awful. I couldn’t wait to get back to the car. It was really weird because it wasn’t busy. Although we are still having home deliveries, we do go to another supermarket for treats, and I’m absolutely fine there. Very strange. I think we have to take small steps in going out to build our confidence up again without forgetting to be careful.

Morning all. It’s a bright sunny morning here in N Yorks but very windy.
A big thanks to everyone who responded to my cry for help about the ignore button. I can now read posts without it affecting my bp!
As you can see, I’ve been a member for a while but only lurking. It has been great reading all your posts and, like everyone else, it has been a great help through difficult times. I love the humour. It’s great to have a good laugh and there have been many. Thanks for that.
l have felt that over the last two years I have got to know many of you but you don’t know me so I’ve decided to be more sociable. This posting business is new to me so I’m giving it a go.- 19

Many thanks Sharon. You’re a star!

Thank you, Sharon, for trying to keep this thread here. I do not post very often so I suppose I’m a lurker. I have followed this thread from the beginning. It is the first thing I look at in the morning and I have found that it helps to take my mind off what is going on in the world at the moment. At the same time I lurk on other threads that take my interest. If it was moved to the Pub (what’s that?) I would have very little interest in CC. Please don’t move it (talking as an experienced cruiser).

Disappointing for you Dermotsgirl, but I think you have made the correct decision. We have just returned from a long weekend at Warner’s Thoresby Hall also for a birthday celebration. We were in the minority as far as mask wearing and social distancing goes. It was because of this that we missed out on the entertainment - it was very crowded and we felt rather nervous about joining in. We spent much our time enjoying the surrounding countryside. However, it was an enjoyable break.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a good time and your husband has an happy birthday.

It is very sad that the Stonegate Bettys cafe is closing but it’s kitchen is very small and not conducive to social distancing for the staff. Due to the age of the building, the stairway and cafe are also not suitable for social distancing. The shop, along with all the other Betty’s shops and cafes, will open when lockdown restrictions start to ease. Hope this helps.

Got ours this early this morning. FCC's can only be used on new bookings. It clearly states this in the FAQs.

If I remember correctly, the GBS has been going for at least 18 years.

We had this on Oriana. It was a seven course tasting menu which was held on selected dates in the evening. The heat of the dishes could be adjusted to suit your palate and it was very enjoyable and filling!
We did not know that it was available on the ship until it was advertised on board. Menus were then available to look at nearer the time.
Hope this helps.

I have followed this thread with interest as we will be in Venice in October on Arcadia and again next year on Oceana.
Having done some research, I have discovered that there will be 6 ships in including Arcadia berthed. What is even more interesting is that Venice is the port of embarkation for the other 5 ships. Cruise passengers are accused of not spending whilst ashore unless they have booked an extended stay. It looks like Arcadia passengers, sorry guests, will be the only ones spending money. Yes, Venice has its problems but are they of their own making? Is Venice wanting to have its cake and eat it?

Having returned from the Oriana cruise before yours we also received the two requests. One is done by P&O and Feefo is a separate organisation and it is done on P&O's behalf. We completed both because we had plenty to report back on. It is interesting to read reviews from people who were on the same cruise - sometimes you wonder if you were on the same cruise!!
P&O's review is all about ticking boxes and is quite restricting whereas Feefo's gives you a chance to express your views more freely.

We have always used CPS in the past but on our last cruise we used parking4cruises because they had been recommended to us by a friend. They were very thorough during the check in process and the car was ready waiting for us after disembarking. We saved a lot of money on a four week cruise and will being using them again on future cruises. Hope this helps.

The back of one side of the the buffet is converted into the Beach House at night.
Dining is available out on deck or inside depending on the weather conditions and your choice.
Hope this helps.

We have always done it as a ship's tour. Sailing along the coast with some commentary, sometimes under sail and sometimes using the engine depending on weather conditions with drinks flowing - whats not to like?
-
We have done this tour a number of times and love it. We are doing it again in Feb. when we will be on Oriana. I am sure you will enjoy it.

The reason there are queues with CPS and they sometimes have to use holding areas could largely be due to the fact that ships are much larger now with more passengers arriving at the port. We have never had a problem and have always driven straight to the terminal. However, we never cruise on the large ships.

We were on Oriana during Sept/Oct . There was ballroom and sequence dancing every night until 11.15pm except on formal nights when it finished at midnight. Hope this helps. Enjoy.
-
We were on Oriana over Christmas. We were 2nd sitting and there was pre-dinner dancing most nights followed by dancing after dinner most nights in Harlequins. The disco started at about 11.30pm in Harlequins most nights. Hope this helps.

Oh how we have enjoyed watching the memes from Pauline’s phone. Thanks for posting the video Graham. We haven’t laughed so much for such a long time.
