  1. We sailed on Adventure a few weeks ago as a family of 4, me, my husband, 7 year old daughter, 9 year old son. We did not make a seating request ahead of time. As soon as we arrived we went to check and they indeed had us at an 8 top with another family. I was told we would have to sit there the first night, but the next day we would receive a notice in our stateroom of our new table, if they were able to move us. We ate at Giovanni’s the first night, and the next day got the notice we were moved to a table for four. Not complaining, but it was a terrible location. Right when you walk in along the path everyone has to use to get in and out. We constantly has to scoot chairs around to let waiters and others pass through. So, I would maybe make a request ahead of time if you’d like to sit with just your family 😀

Hi there...we are seasoned cruisers on several lines

Carnival once put my family of 6 with a father and young son making it a table of 8 and everyone was uncomfortable. We tried to interact but they ignored us and that made us uncomfortable and therefore we weren't comfortable even as a family group. Difficult to laugh and reminisce when 2 at the table are clearly ignoring you plus it was a round table which made it worse

Carnival once put my family of 6 at a 6 top and it was a great family memory maker

Disney sat us at a 6 top

    Princess did the same

Ncl of course has anytime dining and sits you with just your party and we have been cruising ncl exclusively the past several years primarily for this reason as well as price and itin

We have found that eating with just our travel group is best so...

We are considering rccl because of great price and an awesome itin for next cruise and will cruise as a group of 4 definitely but perhaps 5 or even all 6 of us again! Yeah!!!

It's our 1st rccl cruise so how can we expect to be seated in the mdr?

Please say rccl will be savvy enough to just sit us alone. We love to chat together at dinner and it's really not great if there were others at the table. They would be uncomfortable I'm thinking and we wouldn't be able to interact like a family with others there

Love chatting with other pax of course just prefer dinner to be just us

    Thanks

  2. Thank you LadyLaker I am curious to see them too. Did you like GSC?

We really liked Great Stirrup Cay! Since we stayed in The Haven we were able to get the first tender boat to the island. We had our pick of places to sit. A little while later there were quite a few people complaining about not being able to find a spot. There were still chairs available, but they were farther away or without any shade. So I would recommend getting there early if possible! The water was beautiful, and the tacos were very good! :D

  3. This video was excellent and got my family excited for our Alaskan cruise!

Would you mind sharing what activities you did in each port? My kids decided they want to do all of the same things y'all did! lol

Thank you! I know my family spent a lot of time watching videos before our cruise, and it definitely got us excited as well!

Juneau- We took a Juneau Tours bus (didn't schedule ahead of time, signed up when we got off the ship in Juneau) to Mendenhall glacier, and rode the Mt. Roberts Tram.

Skagway- Rode the train- White Pass Railway, and did the Mushers Camp Sled Dog Discovery excursion. Both were booked through NCL. The Mushers Camp was my and my daughter's favorite excursion of the trip! Ate and drank at Skagway Brewing Co.

Ketchikan- Booked through NCL- Misty Fjords seaplane excursion (I think my husband and son liked this one best), and Great American Lumberjack Show.

Victoria- We didn't have anything scheduled ahead of time. Took a pedicab ride all around the city. Lots of vendors waiting at the port. We used the company that had a bike that could pull all four of us at once (can't remember the name)!

Let me know if you have any other questions! It was the most amazing vacation..your family will have a blast!

  4. SQUEEEE!

Thank you so much! Has helped with the planning already! When it says "all aboard" - is that when you should line up at the pier to get back on, or when your hiney better be on board?

Planning on winging it in two ports - and in one port a family member will be giving myself and my traveling companion a personal tour. I want to be sure that my "island time" relative doesn't make us miss the boat, but don't want to line up too early either!

They told us that "all aboard" was when we had to be back on the ship. We never cut it that close though, and were always back on board with plenty of time to spare. The line was always very minimal, and we could either get right on, or only had to wait in line a couple of minutes :D
