Can anyone help with recommendations on where to get the pre covid test prior to the cruise guess has to be 48 hours prior due to length of cruise so I'm told by Carnival - Hoping to get one in Brisbane when I arrive

Suz&Sean pretty well nailed it. Get your RAT test before you leave. My insurance pays for 4 tests per month but that might be going away. On my iPhone, swiping up on the picture shows the date and time. People who are already on the ship have said that they haven’t even really been checking for the picture.

For NCL they also wanted a picture of the batch number.

One other question.  The self administered RAT test do we just do a test and take a picture? Does anyone need to witness it?

For safety’s sake, I would take the test and take a picture with your phone camera )it will capture the date and time. The original email said to take a picture with your passport. Carnival has different information between Carnival.com.au and the US version. And the programming on the websites has been pretty terrible.

I saw in your picture that you have a ukulele. Are you bringing it? My husband is bringing his little travel guitar so maybe there's a Cruise critic sing-along due! He likes to have it to practice. It weighs 5 lbs which is a lot when trying to pare down for Jetstar. But just having it calms his nerves. I wonder if Jetstar would let him have it as carry on. It's not too big but I don't know what their size rules are for odd shaped things.

Typically airlines will allow instruments that will fit in the bin although it will count as a carry on. We kind of cheated by calling them personal items since we had a carry on. But yes, we are bringing our ukuleles. We are joining Bribie Jammin on Wednesday afternoon. That’s our great fun - joining local ukulele groups when we travel.

I'm starting to get confused on what dates we're going to be at the ports.  Carnival shows us crossing the date line on Thursday April 20, then in Tahiti the next day on Friday April 21.  Isn't there a date change crossing the date line?

Plugging in our cruise dates into Shore Excursions:

    https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?source=Adwords&gclid=Cj0KCQiArsefBhCbARIsAP98hXTYYzpL39I3nDFTCeb-aXFyNUO1X37JcAIVBYUM63mpQ2olwrQ38roaAq8oEALw_wcB

They show us repeating April 20, which throws off scheduling private excursions.  They also have Noumea on the 15th instead of the 16th and Suva on the 17th instead of the 18th.  This really makes booking private excursions a hassle.  I've already booked Noumea and Suva with Viator, but now I'm concerned that I've booked the wrong dates.  Any ideas on this?

I would either check with shore excursion Group or download Shipmate, which uses the shore excursion group to book excursions. Plugging in the dates on the shore excursion group website seems to produce inaccurate results. It calls it a 20 day cruise arriving May 3.  Shipmate calls it a 22 day cruise.

logically, we are sleeping through most of the time change. To give a brief example, we will be getting an extra hour of sleep and resetting back on the ship as opposed to “traveling to the future”.

    (Making up dates and times)

    Ships time vs “real time”

20th 8:00 pm vs 21st midnight in Brisbane

in 4 hours we’ll call it the 20th again and keep sleeping away the difference.

This is obviously a simplified explanation, but I know we are arriving in Seattle on the fourth so shore excursion group has something messed up.

We live in midtown just north of the Nelson Atkins. We've only been here about 10 years from Indiana but we love it . They have built a streetcar that runs from the River market to Union station and they are now expanding it down to past the plaza so we will be a couple of blocks from the streetcar.

West Port area is a fun area. It’s exciting to hear that Kansas City is finding a way to connect these highlight areas of the city. Hopefully we will meet on board! We are pretty easy to find because my husband usually rides a little travelscoot.

We are getting some of our jet lag out in Hawaii before Brisbane so we shouldn't be too bad. We do love KC. Only been here about 10 years but it feels completely like home.

Where do you live in Kansas City? My wife used to live there in the north land about 30 years ago. We lived in mid Missouri most of the time and recently moved to St. Louis about a year and a half ago.

  7. When will a new app be available for the iPhone? I didn't realize they were changing things and I was on a bus trip with sometimes spotty Internet. But when I was able to login, I didn't have any forums available, but I saw elsewhere that the "old app" couldn't access the forums.

Now it won't even let me log in.

Also, how do you change the signature now? When I tried to put a cruise countdown clock at the top of my signature, it said my signature didn't fit into the guidelines. The only thing I could presume was that it was longer than six lines. So can you no longer put in your previous cruises? What is considered a line?

  8. I decided to respond to this because most of the answers are several years old. The travel scoot no longer uses a belt drive and now has a reverse switch, although I still prefer to use my feet in a small space such as an elevator. I have had it for a couple of years now and taken it on my last 5 cruises. It has really broadened my world. I typically have no trouble getting on and off the ships. Occasionally my wife will need to push on my back if it is a steep incline. On our last cruise on Fathom's P&O Adonia, the ridges and inclines made it necessary to carry the travel scoot up and down. If my wife was with me, she could do it. For those with some mobility but merely have difficulties with distance or length of time walking, I can't imagine anything better!
