  1. My daughter will be traveling as a solo and so will I (long story) in different staterooms but have linked our accounts on the app (at least she is showing up on mine). My question is can I use OBC or another way to pay for things for both of us like excursions, spa, etc. ? Would I have to do it on board or can I send her money so she can add to her account? This is our first Princess cruise.

If onboard, would I be able to use some of my OBC to pay for her tips or drinks? I have the drink package but if she wants a drink (and I don't want to lose my package by buying one for her) will they allow me to purchase a drink for her?

And do you know if Princess would allow her to have a medallion for access to my room if I want her to come in as she pleases (to wait for me and such)?

  2. My friend and I are cruising out of Miami in a couple of weeks and wondered how easy or difficult it would be to get transportation from the cruise port back to the airport. Is rideshare or a taxi an option? I know there are shuttle services but sometimes you have to wait for a group of people to get there same with Carnival shuttles. What is the easiest and least expensive option? I have found a plethora of information about getting TO the port but coming from the port is not really discussed.

I would *think* if a taxi is dropping someone off they would be okay picking someone up at the same time but I know some localities do not allow it. I was also concerned about attempting a ride share with all the traffic coming in and out. Ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

  3. Book with carnival today through Friday using the SHOR10 discount code for 10% off. Then I would call to have them match the price. If they don't you can always cancel or keep the excursion for $103.49. You could always tell them that you will just cancel and re-book with the local company if they won't budge then it will be up to you to choose.

Sorry I couldn't help you with your specific question on a low price guarantee but thought I would offer this other suggestion.

  4. Looks like you got the right answer on which Port is the correct one! As for Marriott properties, there are several, but none are next to the cruise terminal. Nor do any of them offer a "Stay and Park" option, or a shuttle to the terminal. However, there are several that are well located for touristy stuff.

    - Renaissance: Cat 7. Located right in the center of the Inner Harbor. Everything is walking distance, including the Aquarium and great restaurants. The terminal is 5-10 minutes by Uber/taxi.

    - Marriott Inner Harbor: Cat 6. Not as close to the Inner Harbor as the name would suggest. But easily withing a 10 minute walk. Ten-15 minutes to terminal by taxi.

    - Marriott Waterfront: Cat 7. Located in the trendy Harbor East area. Lots of fun boutiques and some great dining. You can walk to the Inner Harbor or Little Italy from there too. The farthest from the cruise terminal -15-20 minutes.

    - There are several other Marriott properties in the immediate area of the Inner Harbor, but none lower than a Cat 5.

You are fabulous! Thank you so much! I was trying to decide which hotel to stay at and I think we would prefer the Renaissance.

  5. Hi everyone! I hate to ask these questions but I cannot seem to find the answer using google, Carnival's site, or even the search feature on here so I apologize if I missed where this information happens to be located.

We are flying into BWI and cruising out of Baltimore however when I do a search for cruise terminals out of Baltimore I get two very different locations. One is close to the city "Port of Baltimore" and the other is the "Cruise Maryland Terminal." I went over to Carnival to see if I could get clarification but their help site sends me to an error page.

We would like to be close to an area to be able to walk and see sights but I do not want to get a hotel too far away from the terminal. So, would someone help me out? Which location does the Pride leave out of? WHY they can't just put the cruise terminal's address into my itinerary is beyond me (or maybe I haven't figured out where it is located).

Any Marriott hotel recommendations close to that terminal? I have points that I want to use for the stay or I wouldn't care about which hotel we stayed in.

Any high points that are a 'must see' in the area without having to take a cab very far?

    Thank you for any assistance!

  6. This will be our first Alaskan cruise (hubby's first cruise) and wanted a bit of advice. Our ship, HAL's NA , will be stopping at Juneau in early May from 1pm - 10pm and wanted to utilize our time the best. As of right now our main priority is to see Mendenhall Glacier. The ship offers an excursion to the glacier with a 3.5 hour total trip time (2 hours at Mendenhall) at a cost of $45 pp. However I am reading that they also have an option of a blue bus or white bus that is $30 pp but you have more flexibility with how long you spend at the glacier. And one of the buses (I believe the white bus) also has an option of a tram ticket as well. But I have read some negative reviews about the blue/white buses and wondered if it was just a random fluke (which happens).

For background, we don't want to do the cheap public bus because we want to spend time doing things not just getting there and I have read it can take almost an hour just to get to the glacier then a 1.5 mile hike to the visitor's center (correct me if I am wrong). We are both physically active (runners) so walking is not an issue for us.

What option would you choose? Will two hours at Mendenhall be enough? Excusion, blue, or white bus? Tram or no tram? Other things to see/do in Juneau that are a 'must see' based on our time there. Also, this is our 25th anniversary so we want it to be special and if we have to pay a bit more we can but we also don't need to waste money. :D Thoughts?

  7. So as not to start a new thread... I have a question about shoes. I have only cruised once before and it was a very laid back 3 days on another line so I am not sure about HAL.

Are open toed shoes acceptable for a Gala night? I am not talking about flip-flops but just open toed heels or dressy sandals (lower heels)?

  8. I would really enjoy going on a 'theme' cruise. Ted Talks would be fun as well as some others (I love the suggestion of Hugh Jackman, et al). Not a fan of Oprah but I can see the draw for those who enjoy her.

And as much as I enjoy politics, I don't believe it is necessary to 'go there' because believe it or not there are plenty of people who have differing opinions that I am sure could quickly move this conversation in a non-cruise themed sort of way.

  9. Here is why I think she is playing you...

If she knows that the correction would be for her employer to *both* dock her pay AND fire her then it would be to her benefit to just pay the $1200 out of pocket and not inform her boss. Since she is going to lose the money anyway she might as well keep her job too.

I think she is being dishonest that she will be fired which *to me* says she needs to be reported. That is highly unethical to guilt a customer for an employee mistake. Yes, everyone makes mistakes but we are all expected to face our mistakes and not try to weasel out of it by making others feel responsible for the repercussions. If this is her first mistake (and would be fired) then she probably shouldn't be working for a place like that anyway and at some point will realize it. I highly doubt this is her first mistake, or second, if she would really be fired.

She is playing you. Some people are experts at mock sincerity.

  10. We are considering bringing "port" on board as our carry on wine but wondered if that would be a problem. Port is technically a wine but wondered if anyone had any trouble bringing port aboard?

Also, we are traveling to Alaska in May and wondered what sorts of classes are offered on board? I know the Test Kitchen won't be available yet but wondered what else might be an option. Are there fees for classes? Wine tastings or chocolate pairings?
